HELP is at hand for General PC queries, not Foxestalk ones

Recommended Posts

Thanks LWICD. I can copy the URL /tag text to the draft post but the picture isn't showing. Can you help an imbecile out of his misery ?
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u110/3ftgiant/tennessee060.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

You don't want the HTML tags... you need something called an IMG tag. They're found in square brackets [ ]. If one doesn't exist already, you can make them yourself - you simply type them out as I'll demonstrate below.

You see in your last post with all the< and > brackets, there's a little section that says '<img src="...' - well, in there is the URL to the image you have hosted, namely:

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u110/3ftgiant/tennessee060.jpg

What you want to do is slap that URL inside a couple of IMG tags, like these:

[IMG][/IMG]

If you just copy the URL and paste it inside the IMG tags, like so:

[IMG=http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u110/3ftgiant/tennessee060.jpg]

Your picture should be displayed once you post:

tennessee060.jpg

An alternative is: click the 'Insert Image' button rte-image-button.png and simply paste the URL of the image once prompted for it in a little pop-up box.

I hope this helps.

By the way... if you intended to use that shark as your signature, just don't - it's way too big. Way too big. ;)

Edit: Actually, I notice you used photobucket (smart move) - photobucket usually provides you with the IMG tags already, just below your picture. If you see the line for IMG tags in your photobucket account, just below the picture you wish to post... well you can just copy that line of code and paste it straight into your post, without having to click the 'Add Image' button or typing out the IMG tags.

My computer crashed recently and i lost everything. I'm not so bothered but now the thing wont let me connect to the internet via usb cable. I connect now using the ethernet port but I can no longer get my playstation online.

Any ideas how I can get my usb connection back?

I've already tried reinstalling but that doesnt work.

I'm still with the old ntl modem, the silver box. I emailed Virgin Media but they basically told me to go fook myself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for at least offering to help.

The problem isnt with my playstation its just i used to connect my computer to the modem via usb. Then i connected my ps2 to the modem via ethernet.

Since i cant get the usb to work i have to use the ethernet to connect my computer to the modem.

There is only one port for the ethernet so I'm screwed. Hope this makes sense, it does in my mind lol.

Not sure whether anybody knows anything but it's worth a punt:

Recently I've just bought a new laptop, so now the operating system is Vista.

I've currently got a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player and the current software won't work on Vista <_<

I'm pretty sure it's a new driver I need to download but I can't find anything on the Creative website that makes sense to me.

Basically I was just wondering if anybdy has had the same problem and whether they were able to sort it out?

Any help would be gratefully received ;)

Just a quick one. I bought a memory card today and now can't get it to fit. I am sure I am putting it in the right hole so it may be the wrong type. I was asked which it was and I wasn't sure and the bloke says I bet its this one when I told him how old it was andwhat model. My PC is about 5/6 years old and I got it from PCworld (Time) but its been upgraded a couple of times.

The memory card I bought seems to have more indents than the one that is in already. Going away Monday so cant take the card back for at least a week. As it was on the market not sure if he'll remember me or will exchange it. Cost me a tenner.

I'm useless at these things. Even lost a screw as I was taking the back of the tower off. Dropped on the carpet.

Thanks in advance for advice and help.

I have a query that someone will be able to answer.

I now use Firefox instead pf IE.

But

When, for example, i am on msn, and someone sends me a link to a website, or when i receive e-mails on msn, it still opens in Internet Explorer.

Which is really winding me up now.

I assume its something to do with it being the default browser but i dunno!

Help me please!!

In FireFox...

Tools > Options

Under the 'Main' (or 'General') tab, there's a section at the bottom - System Defaults - here, there's a checkbox that says "Always check to see if FireFox is the default..." and next to that is a button that says "Check now". If you hit "Check Now" it should determine whether Firefox is the default or not... and if not, one assumes it will provide you with the option of making it the default browser.

That should correct your inconvenient IE launching issues.

Firefox tracking cookies.

th_Spybot.jpg

Everyday I run spybot and everyday these buggers appear and everyday I delete them and everyday they are back.

I've got the Free version of AVG, PC Tools Firewall, Spywareblaster, A-Squared and Ad Aware, so what is it that I haven't got that can stop them.

Also would this be the cause of my PC running so slow that I have to sit and wait for the text to catch up with me like now?

I've got a a Intel DuoCore, 1.6GHz, 2038MB, 32Bit Laptop and it's like using it in the dark ages.

Shit I can't even post images from photobucket and when I try to up load this page I get connecting to foxestalk alternating with connecting to paypal - WTF is going on??????

Wait yes I can post images but not in the normal way :frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty:

I had a simular problem. My duel core laptop was slow and kept freezing. I used system restore first but that didn't do it, i ran all usual programs (SAD and Ad aware etc) and nothing turned up. So ive now started it again ( restored from partition on hard disk) back to when it shipped to me. Fine now, but had to back up everything. However, with mine there was an option for non destructive restore but i had all ready backed everything up.

CPU fan problem

Hi Guys,

If you don't want to read description of the problem and tell me where to buy the goddamned thing go further down

Got a problem, and a fvcking annoying one at that.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, but occasionally, completely out of the blue my CPU fan will start making a noise as if there is something caught (like a wire) in it. However, no such luck. If i shut down my computer and leave it for a while and then start up again it will be fine.

Now, what I was getting at.

I thought it would be easiest to replace the fan completely, but with this I need help.

Installing it I can do, I just need to get one.

Where is best (preferably over the internet), how much and what do I want.

Here is computer info as provided by TuneUp Utilities 2007
