WhatsHisName Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 It's been many many years since I saw one of those razors. When I was a kid my dad used to have them, and I think that as in the early 80s. I hadn't even thought about fror many years until I saw this posting, and I think I'll do a web search on these things
Raj Posted 3 June 2014 Author Posted 3 June 2014 there are loads of websites who specialise in them and its quite a market the more i Google it...abit like classic cars....but the look of them just scare the shit out of me..not for the ones who just want a 5min shave!!!
WhatsHisName Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I remember how after shaving you would splash on the aftershave and it would sting And looking on the net double edged razors are not cheap.

Raj Posted 3 June 2014 Author Posted 3 June 2014 Are you a Sikh?!? Because if you are, I ain't going near you with one of them in your hand.. I've heard what Sikhs can do with two sided blades! I aint Sikh, abit of hindu and abit of Punjabi!!! Ive just made the first purchase towards the DE experiment... http://www.mankind.co.uk/proraso-shaving-cream-jar-eucalyptus-menthol/10832966.html Now to see if i got the balls to buy the razor!!!
Brenfox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I've recently started shaving this way. I've always had problems with both electric & cartridge shavers but it's the best thing I've ever done. So cheap & it doesn't pull or cut my face to ribbons.
Raj Posted 3 June 2014 Author Posted 3 June 2014 Raj, did you write Shaving shack? No. Got one of these which is actually a really good buy and prolongs the life of a blade--
sphericalfox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 No. Got one of these which is actually a really good buy and prolongs the life of a blade-- Here's one for those who like DIY and don't like to spend money
Merging Cultures Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 What about a straight razor? Your thread has got me contemplating getting one.
Raj Posted 4 June 2014 Author Posted 4 June 2014 What about a straight razor? Your thread has got me contemplating getting one. Fook me....thats a different level completely!!!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 One leather strap, and one "cut throat" razor. That's what I started with. Bloody good shave!
Buce Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 What about a straight razor? Your thread has got me contemplating getting one. I'm fairly certain they are illegal in the UK.
Webbo Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I'm fairly certain they are illegal in the UK. They sell them on Amazon. I had a shave with one when I was on holiday in turkey one year, not as close a shave as you'd think. It was good though when he tapped my ears/nose with a flaming knitting needle to singe off all the dad hair.

I had one done in Malia...it was all good until the c@nt finished it off with some lotion which nearly ripped me a new arsehole!!

The People's Hero Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 I do this at weekends and if there is time (ie kids are being good) weekday mornings.
foxoffderby Posted 6 June 2014 Posted 6 June 2014 When I go the barbers I have a cut throat shave as we'll as a haircut. You can't beat it
Raj Posted 6 June 2014 Author Posted 6 June 2014 I do this at weekends and if there is time (ie kids are being good) weekday mornings.Know what you mean...with 2kids around its hard work getting anything done. But it SHOULD be a sanctuary for us blokes for 15 mins of peace!!!
The People's Hero Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Bit of advice, when starting out, don't rush it!It sounds ridiculous, but there are actually some really good instructions videos on youtube. Get yourself a decent brush - real badger hair is best, although it doesn't smell great to start with. Here endeth my preaching.
Rincewind Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 I need a proper shave.I have a beard growth but want to be clean shaven for my sister's wedding. I normally cut if I do it myself so I will get it done the same time as a haircut the day before I go.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 31 July 2014 Posted 31 July 2014 Bought this earlier (£9.99 including a pack of 10 double edged blades (20 then)). Just absolutely butchered my face - it's going to take some practice!
