Im going Alton Towers on saturday and was wondering if anyone had been on the smiler?

Cant wait to go on it looks awesome.

what are your favourite theme parks/rides?

I've been on it. Very good ride tbf but it's had all sorts of problems since it opened.

Ohh and prepare to queue for 2 hours like I did.

The Smiler recently closed down because wheels flew off and hit people in the face. It's your call....

im not scared lol

Gotta be good to beat Stealth at Thorpe Park. Love that ride

That was back around October time, unless it's happened again, because that was the day I was there. I was gutted it had shut down AGAIN, but after hearing what had happened, I counted myself lucky.

I've heard its good though. If, of course, it's actually running.

Alton Towers is better than Thorpe Park I reckon. It's just bigger and more of a fun day out. If you get there for when it opens go straight for the smiler. It will be less queuing then as it is the best ride there

See i thought that aswel but my mate seems to think it best to go for the smiler right at the end of the day. I would sooner be there for when it opens and get the smiler done n out the way.If your quick enough you could be there with no queue

When we went Alton Towers a few weeks ago we headed straight for the Nemesis/Air area. We got straight on about 3 rides and had done around 5 in an hour and a half. Everyone will be heading to the Smiler first (assuming someone hasn't been killed by it).

So my advice is get the other ones out of the way while no one's there, and keep and eye on the Smiler throughout the day. You may need to wait til the end of the day. Of course, if you really want to go on it you've got to be prepared to queue a bit.

I seem to remember that by 4 - half 4 the queue had gone down to about 40 minutes, but by then everyone was knackered (we got lost in the gardens and had to walk up about 10 hills lol ) so we went home.

I do love a bit of Alton on a sunny day, it's still a top day out with family or friends and there are vouchers everywhere so it's pretty cheap (compared to going to the football for example!). I actually really enjoyed 13, even though it's really short. Oblivion is the all time classic though, there's no rush like it.

I'm desperate to get back to Disney/Universal in Orlando, there's just no beating that

Last time I went Alton Towers I was 13 so that was 9 years ago! Never been a massive fan of rollercoasters, though I loved Orlando's Disney and Universal parks when I went there the other year.

Yea that was my mates argument. Rather than get through quick on one ride u might aswel get on all the other coasters quickly and queue a bit on the best one last.

I went Orlando 13 years ago. Aerosmith was awesome, The Hulk and duelling dragons we're decent but i loved The Kraken. That first drop was class

We tried to do both. We had a fast walk to smiler as soon as we got in and it was a fifteen minute wait. We passed it through out of the day and it was always 2 hours+. We then thought we'd do it again just before we went and it was still about an hour and a half. Get it out of the way so you can go on every other ride without a long wait IMO

Only ever been to Alton Towers and I just think why go somewhere else when this is as good as I want.

Nemesis is the best ride there IMO, nor been since they introduced the Smiler though.

Was one of the last to go on Corkscrew too, we last went on the last day of that season.

The Smiler was really good, arguably the best ride there. Prefer Alton Towers to Thorpe Park (or any other British theme park) but I went to Magic Mountain not long ago and it dominates anything over here to be fair.

Its the f..king tension and nervousness I feel as you're queuing and I bottle it about 70% of the time. Stick to the squirrel ride for me. That's where the real thrills are.

Haven't been Alton Towers just yet but, plan on going in the future. I love going to Drayton Manor, and Shockwave is brilliant. But, my favourite theme park would have to be Disney Land Orlando went there a couple of years ago when I was eleven or twelve. The rides there were brilliant and hope to go there again in the future.

Roller Coasters in Orlando were amazing. I also loved the Jurassic Park ride with the 80 foot drop. I told my mum it was a nice boat ride lol She absolutely shit herself

Went to Alton Towers during Halloween a few years ago and it was great fun.

My favourite Theme Park would have to be Port Aventura in Spain though, they have some incredible rides!

Oh yes brilliant theme park Port Aventura.

Disney land in Florida is on a different level, it's a different kind of holiday where you go just to go on rides. I loved it

Even when you don't go on the big rides the others are still good fun
