LCFC FOX Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Haven't been Alton Towers just yet but, plan on going in the future. I love going to Drayton Manor, and Shockwave is brilliant. But, my favourite theme park would have to be Disney Land Orlando went there a couple of years ago when I was eleven or twelve. The rides there were brilliant and hope to go there again in the future. Drayton Manor is dreadful to be honest compared to Alton Towers. There's only two big rides at Drayton Manor and to be honest they're nothing special and not that good
Ian W LCFC Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Love Alton Towers. It beats Drayton Manor, in pretty much every area. Much bigger place, bigger and better rides. It's only the queue times that can get annoying. The Smiler is great, went on it in the dark at the Halloween night last year. Top stuff.
Stadt Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Parc Asterix is where it's at. In all seriousness it's even worse than Drayton Manor, imagine turning up at a dreadful theme park on an already dreadful year 10 Paris trip which includes journeys into numerous French supermarkets, a 2 hour coach trip to see the Eiffel Tower in the distance and a solitary museum trip surrounded by two 18 hour coach trips.
lestajigs Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 Salou, portaVentura brillo there, that shambhala ride is absolutely amazing, was there this time last year
Wrighty22 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Went Alton Towers yesterday and considering it was lovely weather it wasn't very busy at all. Got on each ride 2/3 times. Another good park is Heide Park in Germany, anyone been there?
Vlad the Fox Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Apart from the odd moment of insanity I've never really progressed from the tea cups and ladybirds.
Fox92 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Apart from the odd moment of insanity I've never really progressed from the tea cups and ladybirds. Same ... I used to love the Haunted House at Alton Towers but last time I went, granted that was 9 years ago, they had ruined it.
emmo1987 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Has anyone been to American adventure since it shut? Its freaky as hell. Just remains of some rides are left. Crazy
Bert Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 There's no better ride in the world than the Oblivion. Been to all the theme parks in Florida and they're absolute top draw. Sheikra at Busch Gardens and the Incredible Hulk at Universal are two brilliant rides, fantastic adrenaline rushes especially from Sheikra!
Guest seanfox778 Posted 14 June 2014 Posted 14 June 2014 Haven't been Alton Towers in years, went to Thorpe Park last year and I thought Stealth was insane even though it was over in seconds. I'd never felt anything like it,

Therefore Parc Asterix is brilliant and you're wrong

DennisNedry Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Drayton Manor is meh. Alton Towers and Thorpe Park are good. Some of the theme parks in Florida though.. I mean wow... I was young at the time and only just tall enough to go on the biggest of the big rollercoasters, and I went on them all knowing it would be my only chance. They are something else.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Since they got rid of the Virtual Queuing, Alton Towers is just a chore for me. Last time I went was when they opened the 13 (I think it's called that), queued for nearly 3 hours and it was rubbish. Used to love Oblivion but since they stopped doing the suspended bit at the summit it's lost its white-knuckleness. Air is always good though Never been Thorpe Park. Drayton Manor was very lacking last time I went. Used to love the Big Rocket and Log Flumes at American Adventure And the last time I went to Wicksteed Park, a car short circuited in the car park and caught fire. By the time the fire brigade showed up, it was so burnt out you couldn't tell what model of car it was, just a charred black chassis. Also the car next to it caught fire in the process, it was like Grand Theft Auto. Wandering around the park for the next hour you kept hearing over the tannoy "could the owner of the car registration xxxxxxx please report to the reception immediately". Had me in stitches, poor bastards
kingcarr21 Posted 16 June 2014 Author Posted 16 June 2014 In this country, I rate stealth better then oblivion Yes the stealth ride is awesome Went on the smiler. Queued up for 2 hours 20 mins. Worth every minute. Best Roller Coaster in this country by far

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 They still do the suspended bit on oblivion. The Smiler has reinvented alton towers, by far the Uks best ride Ahh, been 3 or 4 years since I last went. When I went, it went slowly up to the cliff, and then straight over with no pause - went on it twice and it happened both times without the old "Don't… look… down" - I thought they had cut that part
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Alton Towers is just a pale imitator of American Adventure, give me the Missile over the Smiler any day of the ruddy week.

Soar Fox Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Is it just me or have some of you got more scared of roller coasters as you've got older. Not as in frightened of the big drops or how fast they go but more if the harness fails and you fall out. When I was younger I never gave it a second thought but as I've got older when I'm queuing up for a ride I sometimes think if something goes wrong I could be dead.
Ozwin Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Pretty much the same here! I remember thinking 'what if I have a heart attack on the bloody thing, I'm going to be thrown around like a ragdoll for 90 seconds!'

I've never shied away from any roller coaster before, but the last time I went on the Runaway Train at Alton Towers I kept thinking "Shit these beams are low, I'm definitely going to smack my head on the next lap"
