Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Firstly I'd like to place on record that with the current squad of players we have - I do firmly believe we will survive next season. However i'm slightly concerned with the lack of transfer activity so far. I know you'll say well the World Cup is on and current season has only just finished but not too long till pre-season starts. The caliber of players we have signed so far in my opinin won't improve our team - they'll simply compensate for what we lost i.e Albrighton for Dyer, Upson for St Ledger, Hamer will be a sub. The players linked i.e Campbell I'm sorry but they're not better than what we have. When you get promoted you need to improve it's as simple as that. I see this evening that Rio Ferdinand will sign for QPR tomorrow - that's the sort of signing I would of loved down here to help the youngsters not bloody Upson. Opinions lads - do you agree with me or do you have an alternative view. Thanks
LCFC FOX Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 The players haven't even came back from holiday yet, How can they move clubs? Plenty of time
Stadt Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 No I don't agree with you, the transfer window isn't even open yet you moron.
Tielemans63 Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Its June mate, can't sign anyone other than free agents anyways. Chill out.
J.Lisemore Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 I'm actually warming to the signing of Matty Upson. Bit of a shock signing at the time, but over time it seems very sensible.
Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 No I don't agree with you, the transfer window isn't even open yet you moron. Can still agree deals in principle you moron Okay maybe i'm being paranoid then - but the players linked are not really that impressive - like I said we will survive but I would have liked to have seen some higher profile players linked with us.
Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 and just for the records there are many free agents out there who'd walk in out current team - for starters Rio Ferdinand
Stadt Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 and just for the records there are many free agents out there who'd walk in out current team - for starters Rio FerdinandDon't you mean hobble? Trust Pearson - you are being paranoid because there's plenty of time to sign players that will fit in with the squad and play an important role; signing players willy-nilly would be counterintuitive to what Pearson is trying to achieve.
Guest MattP Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 and just for the records there are many free agents out there who'd walk in out current team - for starters Rio Ferdinand Ferdinand was torn to bits whenever he played last year. Well past it.
Corky Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 You really think we could afford Rio Ferdinand's wages?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 You really think we could afford Rio Ferdinand's wages? Yep! Is he worth it though? Nope! Pearson never has and never will sign players like that. And it's bloody good that he doesn't!
ealingfox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 and just for the records there are many free agents out there who'd walk in out current team - for starters Rio Ferdinand Did you think Bosingwa, Julio Cesar, Park Ji-Sung, Junior Hoilett, Granero and Andy Johnson were all top signings? Would they all walk into our team? £20.5m spent on Chris Samba and Loic Remy? Good shouts were they?

Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 Well Ferdinand was just an example but he is the same age as Upson and yes I do think we could afford his wages especially if QPR have. Why didn't we try for Lescott as well
ealingfox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 You could have chosen anyone... Did he keep them up? Still a monumental waste of money.
Tielemans63 Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 and just for the records there are many free agents out there who'd walk in out current team - for starters Rio Ferdinand Walking is about his level these days.
Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 I'm not saying I want a whole new team your missing the point lads - I am very happy with the current squad however i would like 2 marquee signings that's all
Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 I'm sorry but Rio would have been a starter here - he's better than Morgan, Upson and Moore and wasyl that's a fact - it pains me too say it but that's the truth - same as Milner or Barry would even though Drinkwater and James are class
Corky Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Well Ferdinand was just an example but he is the same age as Upson and yes I do think we could afford his wages especially if QPR have. Why didn't we try for Lescott as well They pay Joey Barton £80k a week, I doubt Ferdinand will be on less than him, how can we afford £80k a week for one player? QPR are on a different level to us in terms of wages paid.
AKCJ Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Did he keep them up? Still a monumental waste of money. What does it matter if he didn't keep them up? He cost them around 10m and they're about to recoup that at the very minimum. He turned a profit.
Jonstar69 Posted 23 June 2014 Author Posted 23 June 2014 Beckford and Mills didn't impress me when we first signed them - I'm talking a Ferdinand, Barry, Milner - a big name that would show we mean business

Because that's why they signed him... Did he play for free then? Very naive to think they'll make a profit on him overall.
