If England and Wales joined together as one nation. Would you be against it ??? I'd certainly wouldn't have a problem playing as England and Wales or Great Britain minus the scots and the Northern irish. Be great for us to have two world class players and Wales would have a chance of actually being at a world cup. I really think this could work. Scotland leave Britain hopefully and then we could play under the union jack and actually do something at a tournament.

No. You wouldn't. Will any other Welsh players have the opportunity to play for the new hybrid team? No, they'll get ignored at the expense of 'better' English players. We should focus on trying to develop some world class players of our own, rather than trying to steal those of other countries.

The irony of English fans moaning and joking about our players "choosing" Wales is that all the ones that are English born or eligible for England are shit anyway and know they'll never get picked for England. Our best players are always actually Welsh. Mind you, in 1998 your best player was Welsh as well.
Nick Posted 2 July 2014 Posted 2 July 2014 It makes sense that if we were to consider invading a country based on footballing ability we should surely pick a country with more than two world class players - no disrespect to Wales. Germany, France, Spain has been done before and it didn't work out brilliantly but Costa Rica and Algeria surely are viable targets? Edit: This may also help the FA secure a future for English football with already existing developed young talent and coaching structures - surely it can't all be just about oil?

Maybe we could use the umbrella of the Commonwealth and re-install some old laws with a difference? Instead of prima-noctae we could have a PreMarradonna where we abduct the best footballing prodigies at U19 level and label them English? I acknowledge that we do this already but maybe we just haven't cast the net wide enough.

Exactly, cheeses me off they always get an ashes test at Cardiff while one of the more traditional English test grounds miss out. A 5 game ashes series should be played at Lords, The Oval, Trent Bridge, Headingley and Old Trafford or Edgbaston, should not go near Cardiff as generally the Welsh are not interestedi in supporting England.

We could play as Great Britain like they do at the Olympics. How many of you are cheering on the Brit Andy Murray ?? It would be beneficial to everyone. Players like Ramsey and Bale deserve to play at world cups.
