Good scoring day, decent conditions.

Rickie Fowler looked in very good knick, until he dropped a couple in the latter holes.

Rory played a great round.

Harder winds tomorrow expected I think though.

I'm worried the weather is going to have a huge effect on the two sides of the draw. The early starters on thursday are going to have the favourable conditions both days which is wiping out a huge portion of the field.

Got to decide if it's worth traipsing all the way to liverpool from London at 6am tomorrow for this, I really want to go but if the weathers muck then I will be livid.

Could anybody point me in the direction of the groupings today please. Got an accumulator for 3 balls but can't remember the groups

Need

Edit: Found them. Just can't find that Bradley Neil on flashscore

Great movement from Moore, D.Johnson & Oosthuizen.

Really liking how Rickie Fowler is playing though, another solid round today, hoping he doesn't drop shots in the last two holes.

Reckon Rors needs a par round tomorrow to go into Sunday leading.

Had bookmarked £10 on Fowler 18/1 e/w when I heard the weather would take a turn for the worst as he handles it better than most.

Gutted my phone died before I could placed it earlier :(

Rory has played delightful stuff, those set up's on 16 & 18 for those Eagle putts were brilliant.

Fowler was awesome as well until the last few holes, while Dubuisson has come on strong the last two days, and looks in good knick.

Rory needs to shoot one of those horrible rounds again, or hit a few double bogeys, for this to change, but I think he has it in the bag already.

The problem is as you have seen today Hoylake finishes with 2 out of the last 3 as par 5's, that if McIlroy gets it right, are reachable with irons. Yes he's unlikely to repeat his two eagles today but for a player of his length they are par 4's, so even if he is level with Fowler/Garcia with 3 to play (which I can't see happening for one moment) you would expect him to dismantle the par 5's again and probably end up winning by a couple.

Anything other than McIlroy winning by at least 3 would be a bit of a shock, simply because his nearest challenger is 6 behind and because of his length to destroy par 5's.

I always felt The Open might be a major that McIlroy couldn't win because of his high ball flight, the winds and his putting but it has played right into his hands all week. Very little wind meaning his high ball flight doesn't matter, had a little bit of rain to soften the greens to make it almost like 'target golf' and he hits the ball so far it is outrageous. Fair play to the lad, he's taken advantage of it.

Did you go to the golf today Ric? and hopefully if anyone was there, the reshuffled tee times and the U draw didnt cause too many problems. Puts you in an awkward position as a fan as its hard when to know where you want to be at what times, something you do see on the european and PGA tours in adverse weather, but still awkward.

The early thursday and late friday half of the draw have had a big break with the conditions over this championship. I was there on Friday, and morning conditions were tricky and it looked like the wind was getting up midway through the morning, but it seemed to die down in the afternoon and good scores were plenty.

When Rory wins, he tends to win big, so i dont see tomorrow as any exception, particularly in favourable conditions where id still expect him to shoot -2 as a "par" score, particularly with the gettable par 5's on the course so his lead shouldnt be overcome. I dont see him blowing up, hes handled adversity nicely in this tournament and is holing out well too.

The course has been superb. The condition of the course has been staggering, and the layout itself is fantastic. If you go back in the thread, i mentionned that Royal Liverpool wasnt one of my favourite Open rota courses. It isnt, but the course has been a challenge and set up brilliantly. Im a big fan of the stretch of holes from 12 to 18 on the course, particularly 12, 13 and 14. The 13th is just a stunning par 3 as a layout, and a visual by the dee estuary. But overall, i think the course has been a fair challenge, and an exciting one too. Narrow landing areas for drives, wider areas for laying back with irons, and the driver brings the bunkering into play. Not hard to see why the players rate Royal Liverpool as a top open venue.

Yes I went mate. The train was a nightmare on the way up and took nearly 4 hours rather than 2. I got there just in time for the Fowler/Garcia/Moore group which was fantastic to follow. Fowler played some incredible golf through 12 holes and he had Rory briefly, who was visibly trying to see where Rickie was at the end of each hole which I found surprising.

He hit some loose tee shots in the last 5 holes though and it's cost him The Open. Nothing will stop McIlroy now, someone would need to shoot 62 and they still might not win.

Great day, the organizers called it right. The weather was not bad at all bar one bit of rain. However about 20 mins after Rory had finished it was torrential for nearly an hour!

Loving this, Rory surely has it in the bag, but what a round Garcia is putting together.

Like to point out Dubuisson as well, lovely player to watch.
