adamlcfcbevo85 Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Calm down, all. Good finish but it was on a plate. One finish does not a Premiership striker make. a top striker isn't just about putting it in the back of the net, the composure and being in the right place right time, he's miles better than deeney just needs to be given a chance, if he started every game he would be our top goal scorer
pleatout Posted 16 August 2014 Posted 16 August 2014 Wood has gone up in my estimation a million fold today. Not for the goal, well taken though it was but for what Pearson and Wood said about the move to Wolves. Basically he didnt want to go and wants to stay and fight for a place. Pearson also said he's young and has a lot to learn. Sooner have a kid that's a bit rough around the edges that wants to play for us than the finished article that's here for the money.

Also the passion of his celebration. I accused him of not caring in pre-season but he definitely seemed to care today
Hack Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Ulloas Goal in case its not been posted Whats the official pronounciation of his name anyway? On the BBC they were pronouncing it "ew-Jo-ah" EDIT: It has been posted Yes that is how you pronounce his name.
Hack Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Remember he would not have been on the bench if Vardy was healthy. He made the most of his chance to show everyone what he is capable of. He is a talented big young striker. As i have said for some time, he is our version of Connor Wickham.

st albans fox Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 If we have another striker then I have no problem with him going to another club but on a rolling loan basis please. We shouldn't need a couple of million quid that badly and a long term injury to one of the players in front of him would generate a recall at the end of the month.
Foxhateram Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Is he in the screen? It still looks offside maybe I'm missing something There first was clearly offside! I was sat at the front of h block and was in line with it. I shouted very loud and the ref eviled me haha.
ScouseFox Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 There first was clearly offside! I was sat at the front of h block and was in line with it. I shouted very loud and the ref eviled me haha. At the time I was amazed it was anything other than 5 yards offside but when you watch a tv replay you see Knocky is slow to get out from his front post duty from the corner therefore everyone is quite comfortably onside.
Thracian Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 That's more or less what Schlupp should have done with his chance. Wood is still young and inexperienced but he had the composure to do just what was necessary in what was a high-pressure situation. Wood impressed me immensely in his shortish cameo yesterday. He got himself involved, made life uncomfortable for opponents and with one chance scored one goal as if finishing was second nature to him. Don't mistake me. Schupp can learn to be ruthless but that's what's needed. You don't usually get countless chances in The Premiership. You get one or two. You won't score em all because defenders mkae brilliant blocks and goalkeepers near-miraculous saves. But you do have to hit the target. If Rooney had hit the target with his free-kick yesterday, United would doubtless have won and Van Gaal would be a comeback hero. But he didn't, he hit the woodwork, and United lost. We have to keep working on being deadly. And Schlupp needs overtime on the subject!

Absolutely agree with all that, I heard it as well. Because he's a big lad we forget his age sometimes and with staff like Philips helping he could improve beyond recognition. What I do like about him is that he's always happy to have a shot rather than pass the responsibility on as Nugent is sometimes guilty of doing.
Spudulike Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Thank fook that chance didn't fall to Jeffrey. Super Kev will sort him out
