broughtonblue Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Ok, I'm opening myself up for ridicule and normal foxestalk shite, but....... Mrs BB has booked a hol for 4 weeks time, as I'm about 4 to 5 stone overweight, any ideas how I can lose it in the time mentioned? (Besides amputation!) Still got my speedos from the 80's but with the beer belly overhang I doubt you will be able to see them! Also with the flab if you can see them it might look like an elastic band All answers, serious (if any!) or ridicule accepted. So from beach whale to Adonis in 4 weeks pls
Guest kristianity77 Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Not a chance! You could easily ship a stone though in that time with plenty of exercise and cutting back on the calories. A calorie deficit is really all there is too it.
Samilktray Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Develop an addiction to cigarettes and cocaine.
broughtonblue Posted 17 August 2014 Author Posted 17 August 2014 Develop an addiction to cigarettes and cocaine.Seems far more attractive proposition than Birmingham fox reply!
broughtonblue Posted 17 August 2014 Author Posted 17 August 2014 Liposuction?mmm, as I'm watching the inbetweeners at the minute, and Jay is boasting as normal, I think I might suggest (what might be his version) this to the mrs!!!
FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Eat healthy and jump around more. The foundation stone of my PT business. And, as you're a good poster, a bonus, secret tip........ Wear clothes that fit properly and stand up straight with good posture, 1/2 a stone lost instantly!
MooseBreath Posted 17 August 2014 Posted 17 August 2014 Total water only fast for one in every two 24hr periods. Plus resistance exercise (don't do cardio it will just make you hungry) three times per week. Healthy no sustainable no easy no effective yes. Thanks.
ADK Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Even if you did lose 5 stone you'd probably end up with a saggy belly.
NewburyFox Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Loads of exercise (in my opinion running works best for weight loss) and a clean healthy diet. You've got no hope of losing the amount you want in 4 weeks but you could lose a stone or two which will set you on your way to keep losing weight after your holiday. Don't underestimate the benefits of the right diet. You can work as hard as you want but if you eat badly then you won't see the results you want. Good luck.
Captain... Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Stop drinking.Hard to do but there are so many calories in alcohol and it allows you to cut your calorie intake without being hungry, just sober. On top of this cook all your own food, then you are aware of how much sugar salt and fat go into it, ready meals and shop bought sandwiches are full of crap but if you really have to buy sandwiches buy healthy ones. Eating less food will make you hungry and prone to binging. You are better off eating the same amount of food but eating healthier food.Use the money you save on not drinking to hire a personal trainer for the month, despite what someone said above running is probably the worst exercise to do to lose weight you need a targeted weight loss exercise plan and having a PT will hopefully provide the motivation to stick to it.Do all of this and more and you will probably shift a stone maybe even 2 if you go extreme, but you will just put it all back on on your holiday. So it probably isn't worth trying a crash diet for your holiday, you would be better off making long term health changes with an aim of losing 4 stone by next years holiday.
yorkie1999 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Chop one of your legs off!! works every time, and avoid anything with aspartame in it
Captain... Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Chop one of your legs off!! works every time, and avoid anything with aspartame in it Why? Avoiding aspartame not the leg chopping off.
Jimothy Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Chop one of your legs off!! works every time, and avoid anything with aspartame in it Only works twice actually.
yorkie1999 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Why? Avoiding aspartame not the leg chopping off. Something to do with it contains chemicals that increase fat storage by interfering with the insulin (which controls how your body burns sugar) in your body. Maybe that's why a lot of over weight people have diabetic problems.
Vacamion Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 You could try hanging around cruise ships. Norovirus or any other vomiting bug will lose you a lot of weight very quickly. You won't feel too good on it, though...
Merging Cultures Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If you can't get on a cruise ship, by some laxatives.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 If you do get a PT then ffs do some research first - many, many bad ones out there. You can't hire me unfortunately, the book is full.
indierich06 Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 Something to do with it contains chemicals that increase fat storage by interfering with the insulin (which controls how your body burns sugar) in your body. Maybe that's why a lot of over weight people have diabetic problems. It can cause a spike in your blood sugar as it tricks your body into thinking it's having sugar when it's actually not - this will make you hungry, so it can be counter-productive to drink/eat products with Aspartame or other artificial sweeteners if you're trying to lose weight. TBH though, this will only happen if you drink a significant amount of stuff like Diet Coke though, and drinking Diet Coke is much better for weight loss than drinking full sugar Coke, for obvious reasons. I would suggest sticking to water if someone is serious about losing weight, but stuff like Diet Coke aren't bad options really. As others have said - the key to losing weight is simply eating well (seriously cut down on the carbs, eat more veg, salad and protein - cook everything yourself) and get yourself more active. I found that bodyweight training is the best for burning fat quickly and the best thing is you can do this more or less anywhere, no need for a fancy gym membership. All you need is your own body and a cheap set of weights. If you do have a gym membership, combine the bodyweight training with some high-intensity interval training (this will give you the 'afterburn' effect after you've finished training) and the weight will melt off - provided you're eating right and cutting back on the booze. You're not going to lose 5 stone in a month, absolutely no chance - and you wouldn't want to either, you'll end up with a lot of loose skin and losing that amount of weight in that time would be dangerous to your health IMO. You can definitely lose between 1 and 1.5 stone if you really focus on it, if you do bodyweight exercises (planks, squats, push-ups etc) then you will definitely see a change in your appearance too. It might not seem like much, and you'll still have a long way to go, but you'll definitely feel better about yourself. There's a pretty good US website called NerdFitness where they have exercise plans for 'average joes', it caters for gamers and 'nerds' who want to lose weight, but it's a pretty basic and non-threatening intro to some decent workouts, as I find a lot of websites like Men's Fitness etc seem to throw you in at the deep end with very little explanation of what you should be doing. This is their beginner bodyweight workout: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ My advice is to take a photo of yourself before you start and then maybe take photos of yourself twice a week until you go, so you can compare the difference from start to finish. When you see you're making progress it'll really spur you on.
Samilktray Posted 18 August 2014 Posted 18 August 2014 I was trying to lose weight for my holiday next month, when I realised it wasn't happening as quickly as I would of liked I just told the missus we'll turn the light off instead.

So from beach whale to Adonis in 4 weeks pls I managed to lose nearly 2 and a half stone in 4 weeks before but it takes a lot of dedication What I did: Cut out all carbs. No bread, crisps, chips, anything like that. Half your meal sizes Cycle 15 miles per day Limit your snacks to fruit, fresh or dried - A typical meal for me would have been 2 oven-baked fish cakes, half a tin of mushy peas, 1 corn on the cob (no butter) You'll feel really hungry for 4 or 5 days then you suddenly get used to it. When I did this I lost my first stone in about 5 days, the second stone took about 2 weeks to shift. Hope this helps
