Grewks Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 There is no doubt that last season they were our best central midfield partnership. But that was when we were dominating games. Neither have the engine of king, or the defensive ability of Hammond. Will we go 3 in midfield?
weller54 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 King and Hammond deserve a run in the team now!!!!?
Callabinho Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Matty James has everything. Agreed, both he and Drinkwater have a wonderful understanding, both are young and have huge futures ahead of themselves. We will play even better once they are back.
HitchinFox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 After King and Hammond have been this good against two of the top teams, I can't wait for Drinky and James being set loose on the likes of Palace, Stoke, Burnley and Albion.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nobody was thinking Vardy and Drinkwater would play at the start of last season like no one thought King and Hammond would play this. As long as those two keep playing like they are Matty and Danny won't get a look in.
J.Lisemore Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Obviously Drinkwater and James are the first-choice pairing but its a massive plus that Hammond and King have shown they're capable of stepping in. I didn't think either had it in them but fair play, doing very well at the moment.
Clever Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I wouldn't like Pearson's job of having to decide when all four are fit. Hammond has looked great breaking up play. While King has looked great taking up those positions between players to receive the Ball. Maybe we don't need Cambiaso after all.
dpjfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 King and Hammond have filled in well and dont forget both have prem experience IMO we will eventually play Drinky/James/and a.n other in a 3 man midfield
st albans fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 James is a better player than Hammond - period. If Hammond is performing as well as he is at this level then James will be even more impressive. However, Nigel is known for his loyalty to the player in possession. If may well be that Hammond will not be fit for next week so fingers crossed that Matty is able to return. against arsenal, I wouldn't be surprised if we played dd and MJ with king ahead, leaving nuge out or moving him wide. also, vardy may be a better option than ulloa, stretching their back 4 with his pace.
johnny the fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 we are very lucky.. class all over our midfield..
STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Excited to see how these two do adapt. If they follow King and Hammond's lead then we are going to have a very strong midfield. Great to think that we can rely on King and Hammond to come in and do a job if needed too Really impressed so far how our players have made the step up and looked reasonably comfortable at this higher level.
Richard Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We're lucky to have 4 midfielders who have shown they're more than capable at this level. I have a feeling that the way we've been playing means our midfielders will tire and pick up more injuries than last season. The tempo with which King and Hammond have been playing at and chasing every ball it's no surprise Hammond got cramp after an hour. King's emergence this season reminds me of how James took his place off him last season
Guest bss9401 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Fair play to King and Hammond but it is Drinky and James who I want to see starting. Actually I can't wait to see how they perfom at this level as they are in the spine of who we are as a team.

I can't wait for the two CM who are performing best to be playing these games. You earn your chance in the starting line up, and that's exactly what hammond and king have done. And neither of them deserve to be dropped if both are fit when either James and Drinkwater if they carry on playing as well as they have first two games. Don't understand why so many of our fans have favourites and don't want to play players on merit.
M0901 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Hammond has been brilliant, does his job and does it well, as proven. Dropping him would kill his confidence, he's earned his place, so as long as he carries on doing so he shouldn't be dropped simply because of James' form last year. Same goes for King in all fairness, and he deserves a stab at the league for his loyalty alone.
sdb Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 I think Hammond will excel in the tougher games where we're more likely to be on the back foot for large chunks of the game. Yesterday being the perfect example of his positional sense and calming, experienced impact. Drinkwater and James will have a bigger influence in games where we're forcing the agenda a bit more. Harsh on King and Hammond who've been 2 of our best 4/5 players so far but I think they'll stay second choice when all 4 are fit.
shade Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 bottom line, drinkwater and james wouldn't have performed any better, king and Hammond have to stay in until performances drop or a change is needed, otherwise you're just picking a team on reputation.
SomalianFox15 Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 Hammond and King have earnt their place in the starting 11 therefore they deserve to start against Arsenal.

KentyLCFC Posted 24 August 2014 Posted 24 August 2014 James and drinkwater will definatly cut it in the prem and I cant for one wait till they play together for the first time at this level. Also I got james on the back of my shirt so he best fooking play!!
