Final week Panic buys

Recommended Posts

Here they come people... Not really sure what's happened this season. But the panic buys are coming....

Cambiasso has completely Pissed us about and I hope he goes to a club in the prem and fails now. No respect for players like him. You either want to sign or you bloody dont.

Held to ransom on teams asking more than players are worth Ulloa dragged on, however I think he is worth the 8m paid, Deeney is getting rediculous going in with bigger bids everytime its rejected...

It's no secret we Need:
Striker
CB (Atleast 1 maybe 2)
A Full back that can play both sides

A winger

A central midfielder (Atleast 1 maybe another on short term loan whilst we bring the injured back?)

Not looking good to be honest. We've played well but we are thin on the ground...

I really hope our trust in Nigel pays its way!

In Nigel we trust :pearson:

So my question is this: What exactly has not gone to plan for us this transfer summer?

Usually Nigel is very good in the market and we get our business done relatively quickly. This season we seem to have been held to ransom by our targets

EDIT: Having said that

Ian Stringer @StringerSport

Nigel Pearson has told us this morning that the Cambiasso to #LCFC deal has progressed & he’s now more ‘hopeful’

Given the complaint on the days leading up to and including deadline day are usually (regardless of how we're doing and who we've already signed) 'need to fvcking sign someone' and 'knew we wouldnt sign anyone else. ****s sake' etc etc, is anyone else as excited at me at seeing us bringing in some last minute, over priced, risky signings??

If you seriously think we will sign that many players then you will end up disappointed I promise you. I think we will get two. Three maximum.

agreed. We can only register 25 players and we have 21 not including Smith and Hopper so I think 2 max 3 will be right.

I'm glad they are putting so much effort onto Cambiasso.

Who cares that we only have one rightback, not enough depth and GTF will make more appearances at multiple positions.

Can we just make one thing very clear?

Signing players in the last week of the window is NOT the same as panic buying. We all know that NP is very astute in his transfer dealings, and I'd be shocked if we sign anyone that we haven't been courting for at least a few weeks beforehand.

Generally 25% of all summer transfer deals are done in the last week of the window and in 2013 20% of all summer deals were done on deadline day itself.

We may bring in up to 4 players either loan or permanent over the next week, if it is that number, I guess most will class it as hitting the panic button!

Nigel has said atleast 2, So hopefully that means 3, But got knows,

Fanni would have been perfect, can play anywhere along the back.

Maybe we have got it all wrong and it's Pearson who's mugging him off.

Thats the beauty of it, It's very exciting! but also nerve wracking... mainly because we are in a position that if we cannot bring anyone in and have a couple of long term injuries... come january we will be struggling badly I expect.. Imagine Moore or morgan getting injured now... Konchesky? (Schlupp at left back in the prem) Imagine danny or james knock their injuries again?

We do seriously need to buy somebody, not just because the window is closing.. but because if we don't we are in trouble.. Even nigel has said its a necessity we bring in atleast 2, and when does nigel ever let info like that out?

They know we are desperate so may be upping the anti - though I imagine we'll be standing firm on our offer and withdrawing it if they continue to stall and play let's pretend I'm the representative and the voice of EC.

Great another transfers not going our way thread, just what we needed.

Great another post by babylon that has adds absolutely nothing to a thread..

Did you not read the question? I wanted to discuss what people think actually went wrong with signings we have tried for.. for the purpose of your ignorance I have edited the post and put it in bold.

It's good to see, he can add a lot, I just hope hes not using us as a stepping stone to a better deal with another club.

I care!

That is very clear... Nigel has openly admitted we have failed in quite a few of our targets, which happens every season, However we are now VERY VERY light in alot of areas.

Nige has now done something he doesnt ever do, and openly state that we NEED players to sign before the window.

I don't think this is planned. It's not from the David Moyes school of panic buying but I expect we will end up signing players we were not that interested in to fill the gaps if we don't get cambiasso or anyone else.

Normally when Nigel says a number you have to multiply it to get the number he really means, for example, in pre season Nigel said he was looking to add one or two players and added four. So if he says there will be at least two that means it's probably closer to four.

Posted

Everyone seems to think we need several players. To be honest I think it's possible we could survive without any new signings, that's not to say I wouldn't like any more to come in but I don't think we need a bunch of new players.

Would be nice mate!

I wouldn't go as far as panic buying but it does seem like we're going to be after our 2nd & 3rd choices, and with time running out there's a possibility we're going to be overpaying even more than usual.

It does make me less confident that the players we bring in in the next few days will do the job.

If we have a fully fit squad we COULD survive, But I wouldn't want to chance it to be honest, Fortunately we do have some cover..

Was or Moore can play RB if de laet is injured,

If konch is injured schlupp can play there,

However those players can play there but it doesnt mean they are any bloody good at it, just average.. I think we need cover tbh

Thing is, NP really isn't to blame for the transfer issues we've had.

He signed Ulloa, Upson and Albrighton, all of which are, in my opinion, decent signings. He then looked at the positions we still need covering and has tried to make more decent signings for said positions - Cambiasso, Fanni, Deeney, etc.

For one reason or another, these deals haven't yet been possible to completed. That's not NP's fault. You'll have some people criticising him for not having immediate back up options (that haven't been leaked by his mate, "balloon head"), but they'll be the same people who moan about panic buying.

We're in a delicate situation as a newly-promoted club, and we need to make the right signings. It's a shame when they don't come off, but it's better than signing someone who won't benefit the team. That said, I have faith in Nige to bring in a couple of players in the next week who'll prove invaluable to us this year.

If you wanted that just look in the Cambiasso thread. All this question attracts is a gaggle of idiots that don't understand how football transfers work, spouting off their shit conjecture.

Seriously, what's the point in the thread?

The options are...

a) Pearson's shit at identifying and aquiring targets

b) We've played hardball too much

c) There's not actually that much quality, affordable talent out there that want to move and play for Leicester.

I've given you a clue which one it is.

I think it's already been said, but the likihood that we were going to end up making last minute deals was inevitable. We are not the draw we'd like to hope we are. We've not Premiership rep yet, we are odds to be a relegation candidate, and if you are signing even a two year deal, a relegation isn't really what you want to join a club for.

We've got a squad of hard workers, not brand names, drawing any names with pedigree or potential pedigree is going to be a serious challenge given the competition in the market and our own financial management. A balance of risk that we can least afford to fook up should we collapse and return to the CCC. The signings of the majority of the clubs Championship winning team to longer contracts has been our greatest transfer win this summer, and shouldn't be overlooked.

We are cutting our cloth accordingly. Yes it's fooking boring, and doesn't match the miracle I performed with QPR on FM'14, but it's the reality pill that people will have to learn to swallow.

We won't be capable of bringing in another serious level of player until we've actually stayed up.

A couple of last minute deals is what I expect before the transfer deadline, with Pearson saving some of his budget for possible reinforcement come January. It's probably going to disappoint many, but thems the breaks.

Perfect example of how fickle some of our fans are with the edit of the thread....

That's everyone AND Pearson then. The reason he is still in the hunt for players is because he knows we don't have the strength in depth and he knows we need more quality in the side. If we tried to get through the season with what we have at the present, then no matter how well we play it will be straight back down . Pearson and the owners know that.
