Jacnah Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 why would I want to go somewhere else I'm a Leicester fan? I'm certainly not misguided, stubborn in changing my opinion yes but I'm not misguided. I'm sorry if my opinion has offended you...actually no I'm not. Common sense and research. The common sense part is debatable and i draw that conclusion from the second half of your comment. However, maybe I am wrong and you are right...so..please...feel free to share the results of your research that clearly and demonstrably proves what you claim

Haydos Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 why would I want to go somewhere else I'm a Leicester fan? I'm certainly not misguided, stubborn in changing my opinion yes but I'm not misguided. I'm sorry if my opinion has offended you...actually no I'm not. It's not offended me, I just think it's stupid and like I said, entitled. You're a Leicester fan and you support the entity that is Leicester City FC. Nobody is forcing you to. If you don't like what's happening it doesn't automatically give you the right to private dealings of a company and it's employees. You surely realise that, no?
Haydos Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 No. The problem is not 'quality, affordable talent' but 'quality, affordable talent which is likely to be ready for Premiership football'. There are more of the likes of Morgan, Drinkwater, James, Vardy and Mahrez out there - they were all quality and affordable and it may well be the case that they are up to the challenge this year. But, equally, they might not have been ready at the time they were signed. As such, for this year at least, the policy has changed: Back in 2011 we brought in several players who would have been 'ready' to go straight into a number of top flight sides - Yakubu, Konchesky, arguably Schmeichel. So there will be players of the right pedigree out there this year too. Therefore we have to consider (a) and (b) as well. As regards (a), we know that Pearson is excellent at 'identifying' targets but it is not his job to do the 'acquiring'. And it may well be here, and the 'playing hardball' you refer to in (b) that we find the reason for our relative inactivity. In 2011 we lamentably failed to play 'hardball' and, in addition to some god awful dross, we also picked up some players in that 'ready for the PL' category that we're aiming for now. But in 2014 we have failed to seal signings of a similar standing. But not because the players are nigh impossible to find - as you argue - rather because they have gone somewhere else. It's perfectly reasonable for us to ask why. Good post. Point number 2 is obviously very possible, it doesn't fit with my rant though I just think we lack pulling power in several key areas: City. Not great compared to the likes of Manchester/Liverpool/London/etc Repuation. Newly promoted and a squad of relatively unknown players. Manager. Not a name a lot of foreign players (or domestic for that matter) will be familiar with (same situation with our players). Money. We aren't happy to chuck it at people by the sounds of things. I have no doubts with our recruitment so for me it's what I mentioned above.

roblcfc84 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 One down seven days to go - really hope we get some deals done soon.

We're not entitled, no, but I'm not sure about the analogy. How many companies do you cheer on from the sidelines? I don't like a lot of what Microsoft get up to, but seeing as I don't leap about when their sales figures take a turn for the better or go quiet and sulky for a few hours when their profits are hit by another government fine, there's little reason for me to care what their employees get up to. The nature of supporting a football, especially a local club, is surely that you feel they represent you in some way. Granted, I can't realistically expect the club to care what I think or how I feel, and no, I don't expect detailed explanations of behind-the-scenes deals I know nothing about -- but equating football fans to clients of other businesses is always a flimsy argument, simply because Leicester City are likely to stoke our emotions a huge amount more than other enterprises. Not that that's a good thing...!

I think money might be the biggest factor here, but if we survive by one point at the end of the season we'll all be saying how spot on our supposed wage structure was. So long as we get the players in who enable us to get there!
Tielemans63 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 If the lack of signings is partially down to a hardball approach from chief negotiator Robinson (as has been rumoured) then that might prove to have been a flawed approach as, this close to the end of the transfer window, we've only weakened our own position - imho we'll end up having to pay last minute prices anyway or not strengthening at all. I'm loathe to criticize the club as they don't get much wrong but it does seem this transfer window has been handled quite poorly. It seems they've been caught out by the extra challenges you face when negotiating as a top flight club. If it is partly Robinson's responsibility then I respect that he's looking out for his employers but a good negotiator gets the best deal for the own party but still gets the deal done.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Everyone seems to think we need several players. To be honest I think it's possible we could survive without any new signings, that's not to say I wouldn't like any more to come in but I don't think we need a bunch of new players. But you did say you did not think we need a bunch of new players ?
Harry - LCFC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 But you did say you did not think we need a bunch of new players ? A bunch as in five rather than a couple as in two.
mozartfox Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Bearing in mind Mr Walsh uncovered two gems in Knocky and Mahrez at bargain fees, is it not time we stop messing around trying to sign players from the Championship (as the fees being quoted are totally unrealistic) and return to scouring the European Leagues to try and find some young hungry prospects? Neither Anthony or Riyad have Premiership experience, but they seem comfortable as this level? Probably too late nowfor this window. Talk of Scott Parker - no thanks past it and too expensive.

You are correct in some ways but as a Leicester fan I do somehow feel entitled. I travel hundreds of miles every year, spend well over a grand on supporting my beloved club every year and I have stuck by the club through thick and thin. I have been a season ticket holder since 1998/99 and have renewed my ticket every season since (even through the dark ages of Craig Levein and Ian Holloway). I suppose I feel Leicester represent me in some ways, and for that I feel fans do have a right to know what goes on behind closed doors from time to time. I just want to know that the players care about Leicester and are not just here because it's their job.

However, maybe I am wrong and you are right...so..please...feel free to share the results of your research that clearly and demonstrably proves what you claim I can only analyse what I'm given. Maybe the media have made Cambiasso look like the bad guy when he may not be, but surely if he really wanted to be here he would be here already regardless of what his agent wants him to do. It doesn't make much sense to me why this has dragged on for so long. We haven't had to negotiate a fee with the club as the player is a free agent. I must have read every article speculating about Cambiasso and it has been thrown about in a few of them that he could be using us as a stepping stone, I'm not down with that.

Bamba's Babes Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I think Nigel and the club have been caught out in this transfer window. Saying we have been planning for this for years... We've signed Ben Hamer, Matt Upson and Marc Albrighton. I suspect the only player we have properly scouted before signing was Ulloa. Deals that we 'haven't been able to do' are down to us not having the minerals. I am more than disappointed in our dealings this summer. How we haven't nabbed ourself an unknown is beyond me. Everyone wants to play in the EPL!

Everyone wants to play in the EPL! Our head scout has already confirmed that Albrighton has been monitored for years. I think you're underestimating (like I probably did) the work that goes into choosing a player. Mahrez was narrowed down froma group of 6 young similar players as well. Also, all of your post is just more bullshit assumptions. Us 'not having the minerals'....What? So we should start shelling out like Sven again? Mahrez was unknown, Knocky was unknown. What more to you want?

The Guvnor Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 My speculative punt on transfers. It has obviously been more difficult for the club to negotiate than expected. The comment allegedly from the owners having £150 mill to spend was presumably a misrepresentation from the press, never-less hasn't helped. Cambiasso is currently emotionally fooked due to his love affair with Inter and cant decide what he wants to do. He won't be coming here. Last week of deals and now becomes a sellers market so you have to pay more. Mcarthur bid has probably gone in, Whelan will hold out for at least 8 million can you blame him.

DublinsArmy Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 DublinsArmy here - what the gang need is a Ryo Miyachi character to shake things up - failing that - I am a strong beleiver that Danny Graham still has the legs to do it at this level. thoughts Foxes? #CMYF #GOODFOXESDIEYOUNG #BIG MAC
Rushden fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I disagree, Cambiasso is on his wayas no one else wants him, he will bring his defensive buddy with him and one other striker will arrive. I also thing that 2 others will come in on loan. If I am even half right, i'll be happy!! "In nige we trust",
