Oh right, now you put it like that I can see why we're actively avoiding the Europa League this year, wouldn't want to stuff up our chances of the top 4 next year. What's the point in challenging for the title if you don't win it. (just using your logic)

Not only are Leicester City playing, but this is a Cup game - a trophy - something we could try and win. As we have done in the past. It's even more embarrassing losing to a lower league opposition. We got to the quaters last year, and fair play, we lost to Manchester City. The run didn't seem to hinder our progress in the league, compared to the previous year after losing to Huddersfield. Last season we had a squad capable of success in the cup, without hindering our league form.

Therefore the most important part of tonight is not getting any injuries to first team and back-up players. Of course there is, it's called form. You can attempt to say a teams form doesn't carry across competitions if you want but it blatantly does.

I remember Wycombe in the FA Cup quarter final when Peter Taylor was manager and Lawrie Sanchez was theirs. He got sent off if I remember correctly, on second thoughts no, I don't want to remember it. After that game we were sh#t for about eight years. You can't seriously be suggesting that one cup game had a direct impact on the following eight years?

If we didn't suffer several injuries, then players like Hammond and King would probably have played tonight. No disrespect to the young lads, I'm pleased they got a run out, but Elliott mentioned about the midfield being overrun.

Exactly. This isn't the fvckin' development squad in action. Tonight's team has five players (Konch, Moore, Knocky, Wood and Mahrez) who could hope to start on Sunday, along with another four (Morgan, King, Schlupp and Nugent) on the bench. We should be pissing all over Shrewsbury, and we should be doing everything we can to win. I'll be bitterly disappointed if we lose this.

Hammond and king are better than Cain and the other young lad, but at this moment in time the kids are the next best option. I wish we had started our best 11 tonight, and lost king, morgan and Hammond for sunday. Some guys on here would of loved seeing the likes of cain against arsenal
ADK Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I think using Wigan and Brum as examples of teams going down and winning cups is ok, but both were going to struggle in the prem in those seasons anyway. I think most Wigan fans will be satisfied they got an FA cup out of their time at the top.

Are you stupid, just because you've found a couple of freak exceptions to the rule doesn't prove the rule wrong. Man u have had a miserable start, their losing tonight we haven't won yet we're losing tonight. Shrewsbury haven't lost yet, their winning tonight. Obviously it doesn't ALWAYS work like that but you can see trends of form carrying across competitions all the time, it's called form.

You set targets at the start of the season and prioritize them. League position is far above cup run.

What's the point in even playing the game if you think you might pick up injuries. Your last sentence I do not get, either. Just because they play doesn't mean they are going to get injured. Yes there's the risk, but there's a risk when they go to training.
