Fox Ulike Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Never rated him whilst he was here. Pearson don’t make many mistakes but I think that his faith in Michael Keane was one of them. I think Keane must have played in almost all of that horrendous 17 game winless run we had in 2012/13 – whilst Liam Moore sat unused on the bench. Pearson out.
leicesterisme Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 He's not very good. He must still have nightmares after what Vardy did to him last season.
Itsthejoeker Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 He was appalling when we beat Derby last year!
conLAD logan Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I'm of the opinion that keane for the most part out played morgan in our terrible run in
gibbin82 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Disappointing to see all the negative comments about Michael Keane, while he was here I rated him highly and I know that a lot of others did, so much so that at the time there was a lot of praise for him but I cant remember much or any criticism. However just the same as with Jack Hobbs and Matty Fryatt the club has moved on and outgrown them, it doesn't mean they are crap players but just no longer the standard we require to continue moving in the direction we are aspiring to.

He's crap because they watched him get torn to pieces for 90 minutes at the King Power last season.
Dickov22 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 One bad performance for Derby against us has convinced the football oracles on here that he is useless. Wes Morgan was terrible away at Brighton last season, but he's actually proving this season to be one the best centre halves in the premiership! One bad game does not make a bad player.

I for one thought he was poor in the run in when got to the play offs. Not just one game. Having said that he wasn't the only one.

This is correct the stat boys in the back room did a report and it was proven he was the weak link in the team during that awful run. I read an article about it over the summer. The back room guys said without being too harsh on Keane they needed an experienced CB alongside Morgan. Hence big Was was bought in.
Bamba's Babes Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Thought he was good when he was here but now I really dislike him. Shown lack of respect to the club since he left.

Just done my own stats on him: He played 22 league games for us that season. W 7 D 6 L 9. Not good. so in 2012/13 season: With Keane: pl 22, W 7, D 6 L 9: Win ratio 31% Without Keane: Pl 24 W 12 D 5 L 7: Win ratio 50% Pretty damning statistics.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 He was appalling when MK dons demolished man utd
Guest Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Probably because Moore plays first team football every week. If only it was that simple Pearson's son could become the greatest footballer of all time. Keane is bang ordinary. Many better options if only they were willing to be CB no.4/5
Mad Dog Posted 3 September 2014 Author Posted 3 September 2014 Well, something of note, is that it seems I totally forgot about the existance of Upson. I suppose if (when) he comes back we'll have the cover we need. I think some are missing the point here; he *is* better than our youth options, as a backup to Was I don't think we'd have done terribly to have him. Maybe he didn't want to come to be fourth (fifth when Upson is back) choice is something else. Someone also said he had been disrespectful to us since leaving; what has he done exactly? Play for Derby?

While I do think Keane is pretty average, what those stats don't take into account is the fact that the team around Keane capitulated, and we'd quickly turned into a long ball team with absolutely zero confidence. Keane by no means helped arrest our slide, but it's also pretty harsh to say he was a key cause of it.

I think this is true, not to mention Keane's positioning for DEEEENEEEYYYY He actually got a game for United the other week which surprises me as he's not at all ready - but then again it just shows how far Liam Moore has come, and a United academy hasn't.
Fox92 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 If only it was that simple Pearson's son could become the greatest footballer of all time. Keane is bang ordinary. Many better options if only they were willing to be CB no.4/5 I'm not saying it's that simple, but you need to play to develop. So the comparison was a bit unbalanced considering Moore plays competitive first team football every week. I think this is true, not to mention Keane's positioning for DEEEENEEEYYYY The ball shouldn't have even got that far. King should have put Anya in Row Z.
JJS84 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 He's not good enough at prem level, and i think you'd put a solid argument together that he's not really good enough at top champo level either. The management team had good time to watch the likes of keane and miguel and there are reasons why they haven't come back since. add to this the fact that Liam Moore's progression over the last 12 - 18 months has been rapid. Keane hasn't really progressed at all, vardy bullied him last season. i still cant work out how he gets picked ahead of liam for the U21's, must be a man utd thing i guess.
Kitchandro Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Probably because Moore plays first team football every week. Moore came in for the start of last season and looked a player transformed, which can happen. It may yet happen for Keane but he was first choice with us and for Derby and didn't look that great. I didn't rate him for us and he wouldn't be anywhere near the team now.
Kitchandro Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Sooner have Miquel Didn't realise he had gone to Norwich, I thought he looked decent last season.

I think he's suggesting he was too far forward isn't he? That's how I remember it, several of our defenders were out of position and it's harsh to blame someone for not fouling a player instead of defenders for not closing the back door. I actually thought Keane's positioning was terrible, some people are saying it's all in hindsight but it's not, at the time I remember thinking how poor he was positionally and in the air, he cost us several goals. He was particularly awful in that Watford second leg, he and Schlupp were all over the place.
Dickov22 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Didn't realise he had gone to Norwich, I thought he looked decent last season. At Stoke he was absolutely terrible

I think the players (and fans) were so shocked by what had just happened that they all switched off. All of them. King, Kasper, Keane, just the whole lot. Totally unfair to blame King or Keane or anyone else for that matter. Freak goal
