So much potential.

Now its rare for me to say anything positive as many on here know, but i was thinking earlier that we have so much potential to become something special. Moore, James, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Lawrence. Powell (hopefully we can get him permanent) all great young talents who will only get better. Experianced pro's like Kasper and Morgan who have took to the prem like a duck to water. If we can stay up this season and keep all our players and manager then we're really going places and we could well replicate the O'Neil years and then some. Could well be some exciting times ahead.

One thing to bear in mind - Southampton!

Chambers, Lallana (not nec. young but relatively new to top level football and a late bloomer), Rodriguez (had he not been injured would have gone), Shaw, Schneiderlin all pretty young players who have gone or were subject to bids. Let's just hope our owners are prepared to be strong if we do begin to do well and attract interest.

Not to put a downer on things but if we do do really well it is likely these players will be subject to massive bids from bigger clubs. Then there is very little we can do. I hope we can keep them together for as long as possible and just wish money didn't talk as much in football as it does these days. However, you are right. There are very exciting times for us with this team!

Southampton lost their owner then their manager then their players. The MON team split up after he went, we keep Nige we keep the players.

As for potential the OP is forgetting about Schlupp, RDL, Knocky and Wood all still full of potential.

Been saying this since we signed James, RDL, Knocky to complement DD and Marshall.

We had this situation only two years ago. Our team had tonnes of potential back then too with all the young players we had. Given how well they were performing in the Championship I did think they'd grow into something very good if given time and the proper management.

Pearson's recruitment in 2012 was what really set us on the road to promotion and could push us up even further.

Jurgen Klopp is basically the Pearson of the Champions League and he's hemorrhaging players.

I've thought Pearson was the English Klopp before :D

Youngsters and pressing - it works

Can we please win one game in the PL before we brazenly discuss who we want to draw in our first Champions League qualifier?

Any set of mugs can pull off a decent performance and result against a big side, the domestic Cups have shown that countless times.

By this time last year Southampton had won at Anfield and got a point at Old Trafford.

A) We haven't played at Anfield or Old Trafford

B) This time last year Southampton weren't a newly promoted side.

C) In their first season in the top flight they didn't pick up any points until game 5 at this stage they were bottom on 0 having played Man City (a), Wigan (h), Man Utd (a)

D) Lighten up, enjoy this season and stop looking for negatives, we've worked so hard to get here let's enjoy it and have some fun.

Agreed with most of what you said but can we see Powell and Lawrence play first. Oh and can we just stop up first before waxing too lyrical ?

My only concern with this is if we go down.....

We could lose ALOT of players which would be disaster!

I think we'll be ok but we MUST survive this season

We have tied most to long term contracts, with parachute payments we won't need to sell, unless we have release clauses in the contracts then we stand a good chance of keeping the squad together, and if anyone wants any of them they will have to pay through the nose. The only issue will be if anyone starts playing Billy Big Bollocks and demanding a move.

But logic dictates that if we go down then the squad is not good enough anyway ?
