davieG Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 ...... from 2018 if the stadium becomes home to new NFL Franchise Sky breaking news
Dan Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 I preferred it when games were all over the country. Looks like it could be inadvertently falling in the fans' favour. I'm not a big fan of Wembley at all.
Soar Fox Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Hopefully. Like Dan said much preferred it when the games were played all over the country. I think you'd also get a better atmosphere aswell
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Just take FA Cup semis back to neutral grounds again.
Dan Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Hopefully. Like Dan said much preferred it when the games were played all over the country. I think you'd also get a better atmosphere aswell I went to watch England at Old Trafford and it was absolutely piercing, some of the noise. I went to watch England at Wembley and it was literally no louder than Leicester. They were both friendlies in May too. I don't at all agree with why it's coming about but in an ironic way this could actually work in favour of England. Doesn't sit right that they're going to sell out though.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 When arranging friendlies I wonder if the opposition would insist on playing at Wembley?
Dan Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Another thing's occurred, if they're going to be playing games all over the country then surely that's another argument in favour of expanding our ground - we'd make ourselves a contender to host games if we played in a 40,000 ground in the middle of the country. Just a thought. Not saying it should necessarily happen.
Guest MattP Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Just take FA Cup semis back to neutral grounds again. This. The games at Villa Park, Elland Road, Hillsborough etc were superb.
Grandad. Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 I loved England games around the country, I was lucky enough to go England v Finland at Anfield in 2001 when we beat them 2-1, was absolutely amazing atmosphere. Would really love to see FA Cup Semi-Finals back at Old Trafford and Villa Park, makes the Final more special and the atmospheres of FA Cup Semi-Finals would be electric again. Liverpool Everton at Wembley in 2012 was fantastic atmosphere but that is all I can recollect.

Just a thought. Not saying it should necessarily happen. If this happened, it would be an extremely short-sighted decision. We need to establish ourselves as a Premier League side first for at least the next 5-6 years before we even think about expanding our ground. Lessons should be learnt from Filbo.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 This. The games at Villa Park, Elland Road, Hillsborough etc were superb. Indeed they were. I also think it takes something away from the Cup Final if everyone gets to play there twice. I'm not sure why we can't move around the country when we play friendlies against mediocre opposition or whipping boys in qualification, every other major country in Europe does after all. 40,000 in Wembley will always be a poor atmosphere, whereas 40,000 at Anfield, Villa Park or any other ground would be excellent.

All down to money! They need to make their money back for the bloody thing!

It's just a horrendous footballing experience, I went to see England play a qualifier I'll never forget how terrible it was. Fans around me on their phones all game, waiting to take a photo whenever a player came close enough, bloke near me just looking at his memorabilia during the match, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Yuk.

davieG Posted 9 October 2014 Author Posted 9 October 2014 Why would they do that? Better chance of beating England than at Old Trafford/Anfield etc.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Why would they do that? Because they want to play at the home of football?
Ashley Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 I go to England games often and I don't know what to make of the decision to be honest. In a way I am for the country tour and in a way I am not. England have Spain and France next year at Wembley within three days what a double header that will be. Will they be able to attract the same teams in the coming years playing away from Wembley?
Leicesterpool Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Excellent news, the atmosphere's were a lot better when they took it around the country.

Attract? France and Spain aren't playing us because of Wembley.
sylofox Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 I really don't see what it matters. Unless clubs make a profit from it then it should be a no go. OT being the biggest ground will get more games than any followed by the emerates as grounds stand atm. The prem is already loaded for the rich clubs but you just know they will make a profit else they will not do it. So so wrong if they can make a profit from it. But you know they will the emerates contract will not at the min include international dates but it will soon at more sterling.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 Would be excellent news I think. Since around time we played at wembley full time people have lost significant interest in England. Get better atmosphere and more people chances to go
Matt Posted 9 October 2014 Posted 9 October 2014 I think i've made my feelings on this know in the Premier League explore taking on regular-round match abroad thread The bulk of the post applies to this discussion the last paragraphs apply to both/taking a PL game abroad. England games could be took around the country if Wembley becomes new "home" of the NFL franchise. Now I'm gonna sound very contradictory here and I've been holding of posting in this thread in fear of getting 'jumped on' for what I have to say but I can't hold off any longer. (Not that it really bothers me).Whilst I think it would be good for England to go around the country allowing fans outside London a better chance of seeing games (not that I'm bothered by England personally), Wembley is the national stadium.America can **** off from making any "home" here whether it be a couple of games a season or not.American idiots have put this idea in the powers that be's heads, now it's not Americas fault for the powers that be to use the ideas and I'm not saying that but I think it's fair to say if America had never bought the NFL on tour we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Yuk. It's awful isn't it? I've not been since Wales at home a few years ago. The FA buggered up that ground beyond all salvation. I'd be so happy if we binned it off (and would start atending games again too)
