Burbo17J2 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Anyone else think he played really well? Caught Berahino off a number of times due to him and Wes stepping up perfectly in time. Was solid and looked dangerous from set pieces, could be like last season keeping Liam out of the team

Was solid and looked dangerous from set pieces, could be like last season keeping Liam out of the team Will probably get a retrospective 3 match ban, he's liable to receive a red everytime he plays However it's just the sort of physical nature & an extra level of 'knowhow' we've been missing, hopefully the sort of thing Upson can bring to the table too, if he ever plays for us!
dannythefox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Best player in the pitch Saturday needs to start this week.
MrSpaM Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Not sure why he hasn't been starting more games tbh, he's clearly a better CB than Moore

Was solid and looked dangerous from set pieces, could be like last season keeping Liam out of the team I agree actually Bar the filthy elbow he should of walked for of course. I don't particularly condone that sort of behavior on the pitch but one thing you have to give him is at least he'a sly fcker when it comes to committing ABH on the pitch and regularly avoids punishment.
The Doctor Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 You can definitely see his experience, and I think we've missed that so far this season - he's a very clever defender; bit of a brute and very physical, but he's very good at toeing the line and not actually turning it into a red card. I don't get the people who call him a walking red card, surely that he's not been sent off yet for us, and didn't really come to us with a reputation for getting sent off shows he's not that. If the FA don't come down on him for that slight rough and tumble with Berahino I'd definitely start him next week.

Fans on here moaned in the past that we're 'too soft' so make your mind up!

Fans on here moaned in the past that we're 'too soft' so make your mind up! What a ridiculous thing to say. It is possible to be a hard player without elbowing 5ft strikers straight in the face. I like to see a player who is hard but fair. Wasilewski often isn't and it's a major flaw in his game

Wasilewski is fair - he's a very clever player - the odd sly dig but he does a good job of roughing players up without ever crossing the line into violent conduct. He was easily MOTM on saturday
ADK Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Vardy is certainly no less dirty. He's also constantly diving.
Thracian Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Ummmmmm. He and Wes did combine to effect three important offsides but I was expecting a breach at any moment and other reasons for our increased containment of their mobile strike force was our preventing others getting the ball to them and WBA's total lack of commitment to getting any further goals once they were ahead. Defensively Was and Wes coped. Offensively there was never much link-up at all and little threat from those two when we had corners/free kicks which really surprised me. As for Was not getting sent off while playing for us it's only his cunning that's saved him. Saturday's offence looked calculated and indefensible to me. I just think he'll be a watched man now and his luck will run out and it's a risk not worth taking. Unless Pearson can sort it out that is and, with the time he's had, I'd have thought he'd have done that by now. Was is a fierce and sometimes effective defender but no, I didn't think we were safe in that area on Saturday. Not until they scored and had no intentions of doing anything else but frustrate us.
suffolk fox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I thought he was our best player on Saturday held the line really well catching them offside on numerous occasions. Unfortunately because of Berihino or whoever, bleating like a girl and it being highlighted on motd Gary you did us no favours there I think he will get a retrospective ban.
Smiffy Fox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I think his distribution is much better than Moore's. He looks calm and composed on the ball and always looks to play the ball forwards rather than sideways and backwards.

He was easily MOTM on saturday For me it was a blatant elbowing. If it had been in our penalty box on one of our players everyone would have rightly screamed for a penalty and a sending off.

Reminded me of Wes Brown.

I don't think nigel wants to sort it out because I don't think he sees a problem, it wouldn't surprise me if was is exactly what nigel thinks a defender should be in terms of roughness.

Bert Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Said before the Newcastle game it was time for him to have a run in the side. Hopefully he'll escape a ban and continue to play well. I love Moore and he's going to be a great defender, but you can't buy experience and that's what we need at the minute.

I'm not sure Moore's not paying for us failing to track runners earlier and our habit of inviting pressure on to us. There's also a seniority issue which was illustrated Saturday. If Moore had headed that cross into Cambiasso he'd have been criticised by some for heading it into the arriving melee instead of wide and away from goal. But because it was Wes Morgan there was no criticism whatsoever. Generally I think Moore has had an excellent season especially given the pressure we've been under. I've lost count of the vital blocks he's made and the time's he's been first to read and negate a developing threat. If Was's inclusion brings an improvement I'll be pleased but I'll also be surprised.

More than you'll think put it that way. What else did you expect Morgan to do with that ball then? Ridiculous to say that people would've slated Moore had he have done that. It was simply a freak goal. Dress things up however you want, but that's the most solid we've looked at the back for a good few games.

Volleyed it, or even bought it down and carried it out - he was under no pressure. I can only assume he didn't know there was no-one behind him, in which case I think you've got to question Kaspers communication - he should be letting him know he has time.
Dickov22 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 If your face is in your chest, see a qualified doctor. Stop being a WUM. Watch it on MOTD. It's across Berahino's jaw
