Been after a game called Friday for months. Can only seem to find it in the US and there's some German versions on BGG.

Long shot but anyone know any more obscure sites/places that might stock it within the UK/Europe.

Some of the members  of the club I go to may  know of places. On Sat 8th August (I know first game V Sunderland) there is an all day event  at Abbey Park in the building opposite the aviary. I would like to go and I could take my radio for the game but there is also the pre match meet up. It is on noon till 8 or so at night so could turn up any time.

The club has recently had  a revamp. There was some inhouse squabbling. BF GF fall out  so they would  not attend if the other was going. There  is now rules and a committee. They are thinking  of changing the fees from a weekly payment to a yearly subscription. It will be a choice but as the year will be slightly more there will be a couple of extras.  Normally it is £1 on the door with the first visit free. They have a Facebook Page  Section 31. They may haves and sites listed there.

This sounds interesting. I love board games but it's quite hard finding people and time to organise one. Risk has always been my favourite. Easy to understand and gets the whole table going bonkers at each other.

You have more. Information or like a Facebook page for this event?

I'll check up on it.

This is the facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/groups/SectionThirtyOne/?fref=ts

Says it is public group so you should be able to see it. The event day is a charity thing. There are two tournaments being run One is Dominion There is a site called boardgaming geek if that helps. It has reviews of most games old and new.

Has  anyone heard of Blood Bowl League? It is a board game based on American football using cards dice and figures. The aim is to  cause as much damage to your opponent  as possible even if it means killing the whole team.

Saw it posted on the Section 31 FB page and joined their group out of curiosity. They meet at The Ukranian Church every Thursday at 8pm. May take a look after the TRJFP session as its only about a ten minute walk. Not sure How I am gwetting home though.

The game has been around for a few years.  Your figures have different abilities strength and killing power. They said it is possible to have your whole team killed off.

I would imagine it costs a bit for sets thoug but they said there is always someone with spare sets for friendliees as the games are played as leagues.

Time for bed.

I love Blood Bowl, it's over 20 years old now. Quite expensive to get the parts as discontinued. There is also a PC/XBox/PS etc. version

Someone  on the FB page has made dice sets an on Ebay for £20 but offering them to members for 12.50

I will go and  watch them next week. I do not have to play league games and can borrow sets for one off matches then think about getting my own if I do ok and understand it. I'll check Ebay but imagine them to be costly. Although some may sell unwanted sets at the group.

Bought myself Le Havre as an early Christmas present.

I think I'm a little bit addicted to owning games. I don't play them nearly as much as the price of games justifies but ah well, got to have a hobby eh?

Played Aliens the other night. My two characters died. Had to leave one behind. Basically you have to get the crew to safety. Ripley carries a child at the second stage and each turn aliens appear and are able to move more squares. Good fun.

The Section 31 board gaming club now do subscriptions and registered as a community group. They have a good selection of games and will lend them out to members. All welcome.

Ah here it is! I KNEW there was a board game thread. If a newer one exists, I would love to be directed there.

I went to see a 'show' in Copenhagen in January where four comedians were playing 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons casually in front of a small audience.

Most of the content was satirical, but the DM and one of the players were obviously experienced players. There was even a supernerd cartoonist who was assisting with figurines, NPC roles and doing drawings and hashtags as the game went along. It lasted for about 2-3 hours and I thought it looked like a lot of fun.

I thought it looked piss easy and as a friend had asked (read: pressured) me a couple of weeks before to be a DM, I said OK.

I have never played D&D although I have plenty of experience with video games based on D&D rules, so the combat/stat system is not alien to me, but the roleplaying is!

On Wednesday I'll be playing with the aforementioned friend, one inexperienced friend and two highly experienced friends and run my first adventure (Against the Cult of the Reptile God).

It's fair to say I've been bitten by the bug since going to that show and have watched countless of Matt Colville videos and even got my wife hooked on Critical Role, which is really entertaining and engaging once you can overlook the fact that it's "just a game".

Anyone on here experienced with D&D and currently still playing/DM'ing?

Makes me want to get my Risk out from the attic...

Does Cards Against Humanity count as a board game (if you overlook the fact that there is no board. Or dice. Or pieces...)

Good one to play with new in-laws

I love cards against humanity, you can play it online with friends, its super fun if you are all on skype or discord together (and having a few beers.)

You also get the choice of which packs to play with etc. and there are tons.

All about the x-wing miniatures for me.

I have about 50 ships and a preference for flying Imperial ships (Tie-fighters, Tie Advanced (Vader's ship), Tie Interceptors, Tie Bombers... there's more but I won't bore you further lol ).
