Any board game fans out there? I've started playing a lot of games over the last couple of years as a couple of mates have started to build up really good collections.

Some favourites:

  • Dead of Winter
  • 7 Wonders
  • Game of Thrones
  • Libertalia
  • Lords of Waterdeep
  • Carcassonne
  • Twilight Imperium
  • Settlers of Catan
  • The Resistance (Avalon)
  • Love Letter

Not a serial board game player but we always play a few different ones as a family over christmas and new year. Last year we played the 'Really Nasty' series of games. They were great fun, can't beat stitching up certain members of the family

I was thinking of starting a similar thread a while back. A group of us play board games regularly and I've highlighted three you mentioned that we like.

Love Letter is a great little game that sounds a bit poncy, but is a fun way to fill five minutes!

As for Carcassone I have nearly all the expansions and mini expansions, plus extra sets of meeples in different colours so that up to 8 players can play. With turns in Carcassonne being fairly quick playing as an 8 is fine so long as everyone pays attention. Playing with all the expansions can be a headache though - trying to remember all the rules for one! - but adding in the extra tiles but not playing the rules, with 8 makes for a mega game!

7 Wonders is a genius game for the way you can get 7 people playing simultaneously without much downtime between turns. I don't actually own that, it's my bro-in-laws, but I bought him the wonders mini expansion and we like to play that fairly often.

But if I have to talk about one or two games that we play the most... Ticket To Ride and Dominion. Between myself and my other bro-in-law (I have 6) we have all the games, maps and expansions.

How about co-op games Haydos? Actually, isn't Dead of Winter co-op? Recently bought Jamaica which I like and have you tried Formula De? Seem to remember seeing you post in the F1 thread.

Lastly, I'd recommend the YouTube channel and website belonging to The Dice Tower. Great for finding the lastest games.

Got a fair few.

Cosmic Encounter (my fav)

Ticket to Ride

Carcassone

Agricola

Ascending Empires

Space Fluxx

Tsuro

Just off the top of my head. Wish I could play them more often but I'm at uni now so it becomes a rarity. Hopefully around Christmas I can bust the bad boys out.

Buckaroo

For those not familiar there are 2 ways of playing.

1/ take girlfriend /wife from behind and call another women's name out and see how long you can hold on for.

2/ instead of calling a name out get your mates to hide in the cupboard and when the " secret code" is given they jump out shouting " Buckaroo"

As before hold on.

CharDee MacDennis. Great fun.

No puzzles no puzzles no puzzles no puzzles no puzzles no puzzles!

Cranium is pretty good if you're into making a complete arse out of yourself.

Risk can be enjoyable but long nevertheless.

Monopoly is a favourite but only very occasionally. Love a game of Articulate, too.

Why not Scrabble :( ?
