MC Prussian Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 I thought you were bright. I used to anyway. Can't you see that defending is a team game. It's also a function of not allowing the opposition the time and opportunity to create chances. Look at the bloody stats! Look at the times the opposition got into positions to make crosses. If Cambiasso is as 'classy' as you say, and he's a primarily defensive minded midfielder, why on earth are we bottom of the division and leaking goals for fun. Why is our midfield clearly not stopping this from happening, unless it's ALL the fault of a dodgy defence? Is that what you think? Or are you suggesting Cambiasso is exceptional, and it's he fault of all the other players. I simply don't buy it. Because the majority of the opposing attacks up to this point have been coming down our flanks and neither Schlupp nor Mahrez are the most talented at defending in our own half? Plus, De Laet has been found out a few times over the course of the past few games and Konchesky isn't the fastest anymore. Cambiasso does what a (defensive) midfielder in the centre does best - he covers the centre. And I think he does a bloody brilliant job at it. It's not just us "leaking goals for fun" - half the league is.

I don't understand how this rant has come up in this thread (probably because I'm not intelligent). You asked whether he was running out of puff after an hour and I said yes (fvck at that point I actually thought I was being conciliatory - I must be stupider than I thought), you've then gone off on a completely unrelated diatribe about Cambiasso again. Yes, it's a team game. We're all suffering and frankly now is not the time for your petty point scoring about a player who you didn't want who I and others have pointed out is playing well individually. That was not a personal affront to you, maybe people just like to look for some positives. I like going to Leicester to see good football and good players performing their craft. We're not getting much of the former so it's nice to have some of the latter. But then again what do I know, I've got fewer A levels than ScouseFox and he is thick as two short planks.
The Doctor Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 Cambiasso was quality - great finish and put Vardy through time and time again. As for the defensive side of it, it's one hell of a stretch to blame him for de laet not tracking fer, schmeichel not dominating his box and the wingers not tracking back.

No, that's fine.. If you are content with watching 'classy players' who are a part of a team who lose nearly every week and see this as some sort of bonus then fair play to you. I'd rather watch good players making a real fist of staying in a division it took ten years to get back into. Personally.
Corky Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 Schmeichel- 5 (Real mixed bag. Should've done better for a couple of goals yet made two really good saves in the second half) De Laet- 4 (Probably not up to it at this level but needs more support from the winger in front) Morgan- 5 (Own goal but dealt well with Austin in the first half) Was- 5 (Difficult day) Konchesky- 5 (Strugged to cope with their right flank, distribution was varied and at times ok) Mahrez- 5 (Played a neat ball for Vardy to miss and was in and out throughout) Cambiasso- 6 (Lovely player to watch, like his quick thinking at set-pieces rather than the predictable rot we usually hurl into the box) James- 4 (Sort your corners out, they used to be great. Got stuck in but passing was wayward) Schlupp- 5 (Super goal but the rest was Schlupp in a nutshell- good running, no running, running into players and mixed crossing) Ulloa- 5 (Put himself about but no real chances. Flattened Green to keep up his tradition of clattering an opponent each match) Vardy- 5 (Ran really well and gave us an outlet but had to score his main opportunity) Subs- Nugent- 3 (Current scapegoat and his view amongst the support will not change) Albrighton- 5 (Did well against what he had- no tall players to aim at. Put in a shift defensively) King- N/A (Someone said he was anonymous which is harsh because he had little time to make an impact. Should've been on 20 minutes earlier)

Esteban is probably the only one actually making a fist of it - he's the one making things happen, putting Vardy through several times only for Jamie to fluff his lines. It's quite clear you're still unhappy we signed him rather than clattermole and so want to scapegoat him rather than admitting the flaws today were in defending the wings and controlling our area
E-PASS Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 We could perhaps try to get Cech on loan for the remainder of the season during the January window? He isn't being used by Chelsea and they would be pleased if we used him to take some points off the big boys..if we got Steve Clarke in with his Chelsea connections I'm sure this would be possible. We also need a tall central defender with bags of experience. The experienced Cambiasso has got the midfield ticking over very nicely so maybe Rio Ferdinand could come in for the bit of composure at the back.

Cech wouldn't come here, and rio has been a complete donkey for qpr this season - ignore his reputation, he'd be a step down from what we've got.

Go back through the post match ratings. Making a fist of it, in my mind, means playing your heart out until the last minute. Im not scapegoating. At a time where many posters try to crucify the likes of Nugent and now Kasper, it would seem, I don't buy all this about how great Cambiasso is. He's ok. Nothing more IMO. Again, if he's our best player and our best player fades away after 60/70 mins, we are in trouble. Which we are, of course.
SamW Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 Schmeichel - 5 (Could have come off his line for the second and third goals, no chance with the first. Made some good saves.)De Laet - 4 (Run ragged down the wing, looks short on confidence) Morgan - 7 (Unlucky with the OG, otherwise solid)Wasilewski - 6 (Looked a little uneasy but made some important blocks) Konchesky - 6 (Looked solid both at the back and going forward) Mahrez - 6 (Good going forward, should have scored) Cambiasso - 7 (Good finish for his goal and a very solid game) James - 5 (Looked a little off the pace)Schlupp - 6 (Some good counter attacking down the wing, took his goal well) Vardy - 7 (Worked hard for the team and should have scored, unlucky to hit the bar in the second half) Ulloa - 6 (Good going forward but looking a little short on confidence when shooting) SUBS:Nugent - 5 (Some good runs but lacked a final ball) Albrighton - 4 (Pretty anonymous, lucky not to be sent off)King - N/A
Dan Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 This is easily the hardest one yet because there were ups and downs to everyone today. Schmeichel - 4... I've not watched the highlights but you don't get people slagging him off for nothing. From where I was, I thought he'd made a brilliant save for the second and was just beaten by the rebound. De Laet - 4... Not good enough for this level. Morgan - 6... I felt sorry for him actually. He was brilliant in parts today but still came out as part of a defence that conceded three, one of which he scored himself. Hard to grade him. Wasilewski - 4... Hoof hoof hoof, and nowhere near as solid. Poor show. Konchesky - 4... Too limited as a player to be any good at this level anymore. Mahrez - 5... Fairly quiet but not too bad. Cambiasso - 6... Probably the pick of our team. Very nice goal and not a bad contribution elsewhere. James - 5... Iffy. Again, hard to really judge. Did some things well and others not. I'd like to see him back with Drinkwater again at some point. Schlupp - 6... He lacks a brain and he'd be laughed out of foreign leagues for his level of technical ability. However, he was very involved today and I liked that. I don't think he's cut out for this level, but he at least tried to impose himself. Good goal too. Vardy - 4... He's beginning to look a little out of his depth. One brilliant game at this level but the rest he's been too easily dealt with. You know what you get from him - sadly nowadays, 'poor finishing' will come under that. His effort just after they equalised was 2012/13-esque. Ulloa - 5... Not a lot from him, but as usual, no service other than having the ball lumped up to him all game. I truly do detest what we become when we have a big forward. It happened with Wood and it's happening again with Ulloa We fall for the trap of thinking it makes us effective at playing long ball and flick ons and we're by and large pretty shit at doing that. Nugent - 2. He's becoming a bit of a joke I'm afraid. He looks unfit and clueless. Out of his depth and time to go. Albrighton - 5. Bright spark. Tried to make things happen. Provided the service Ulloa required, yet came on when Ulloa went off. Truly baffling. I've been calling for him for weeks and didn't expect to see him. King - N/A Pearson - 4. Line-up I couldn't argue with. Subs I could. Our forwards are actually quite pitiful for this level. Past Vardy and Ulloa we have literally nothing and even those two haven't scored in over two months. Albrighton coming on in a double change where Ulloa went off is truly baffling management. He's walking a tight rope I'm afraid. Ref - 2. Absolutely indefensible and one of the most biased referees I have ever had the misfortune of having to witness. Utter disgrace. QPR - 5. I thought they played some very good stuff first half but are as soft centered as we are, well, nearly. I seriously wonder if the three promoted sides will all go. Pearson - Stays. That'll be the case for a while. He's made mistakes and at least deserves January to try to rectify them. He's got to stop with some of these subs though. It doesn't help having a pretty shit bench, but he's making some really dodgy errors lately. The big error he's made is recruitment and I'll admit I was totally wrong on that one - largely down to his track record, but his track record is what makes me want to see him given the time to bring in some quality and use it to keep us up as I think he'll be capable of doing so. The alternatives are bleak.
teblin Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Nope, the best ones cover the affacks coming from wide areas too. See Neil Lennon. He played in a 3 of 5-3-2.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Kasper 3- Amount of crosses that came in the 6 yard box that he either flapped at or just stood on his line for was ridiculous. The second goal was floated into an area which any goalkeeper worth their corn would catch or punch away at the very worst. Decent shot stopper but can't cloud the fact that he can't dominate his area. De Laet 4- People have unfairly scapegoated De Laet this season, but today he was very poor. Allowed Fer to tear him a new one both inside and out and lacked composure on the ball. Pace got him out of trouble a couple of times to compensate for poor positioning. In his defence absolutely no cover provided by Mahrez in front of him. Morgan 5- Thought he defended pretty well, Austin didn't get much change out of him and put in some good blocks. Had to dock a point for the ludicrous own goal though, the most unnecessary slide I have ever seen. Wasyl 4- We have looked more solid with him in up to today, but he was particularly poor today. Made some rash challenges and didn't meet the ball in the air as well as he usually does. Made no attempt to play out from the back. Only highlight was his over head kick. Konch 4- Another who has received stick unfairly, with very few goals coming from his side all season. Didn't play well today though, Vargas caused him trouble and gave the ball away a lot. Played a few nice balls down the channel to Vardy. Mahrez 5- Our most creative player, and had the beating of their full back until he went off injured. After that became largely ineffective. I understand what Pearson says about having to accommodate him though, as a fair few times De Laet was isolated 2 on 1 with Mahrez ambling back without any great enthusiasm. Cambiasso (MOTM) 7- Took his goal very well and distributed the ball nicely looking to get Vardy in behind regurlarly. Could have possibly scored a second with the header in the second half and really tired after about the 60th minute. Reading of the game great but not the physical and dynamic midfielder we need in there at the minute. James 5- Looked after the ball okay, didn't do anything fantastically but was pretty steady. Minus a point for the frankly dreadful set piece delivery. Wasted at least 5 corners and a few free kicks in dangerous situations, which was summed up when he managed to find a one man wall. Schlupp 6- Was very direct, and caused their defence plenty of trouble with his pace and took his goal very well. End product worse than Dyer's though, the amount of times he gets into great areas and makes the wrong decision is unbelievable. Provided decent cover for Konch, meaning very few attacks came down our left as usual. Vardy 5- If he had taken any of the 2 absolutely great chances he was given, it would be a 9. Caused the defence trouble all afternoon with his persistant running of the channels and linked up the play nicely. But at the end of the day a centre forward has to take his chances and he missed 2 very good ones. Unlucky with the header that hit the bar. Ulloa 5- Held the ball up pretty well and won a few headers. Linked quite well with Vardy but didn't look like scoring yet again despite having a few decent opportunities to have a go at goal. Seems to be over thinking when in goal scoring positions. Albrighton 5- Looked okay, but some decent deliveries in and did a bit of defensive work which wasn't seen from Mahrez. Would like to see more of him in the coming weeks. Nuge 3- Been scapegoated, but just isn't good enough. Looks completely devoid of confidence and can't remember the last time he had a positive impact on a goame other than scoring that penalty against United. King N/A - Not sure why he was brought on. Nothing to add Kasper 3- Amount of crosses that came in the 6 yard box that he either flapped at or just stood on his line for was ridiculous. Bettsj2 Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Kasper 4 - Still the best keeper in the Championship RDL 3 - Weak Wes 4 - Why slide? Is he just used to diving on the floor all the time? Was 3 - Worst game since he's been back Konch 4 - Just bang average Mahrez 6 - Great decision to take him off just as he starts to look very dangerous. Cambiasso 7 - Looked something like the player we hoped for. James 4 - Against a midfield as shit as Barton and Henry, expected much more. Schlupp 6 - Did ok. Great finish. Ulloa 5 - Held it up well. Great decision to take him off just as the crossing machine came on. Vardy 4 - He's gone back to being shit. Should have picked his spot (like his finish against Utd) instead of twatting it when one on one. Subs:- Albrighton 6 - In the time he was on, looked industrious and capable. Put a couple of great balls in for Ullo.....oh no hang on. Nugent 2 - To think he said he deserved a 3 year deal. Would have preferred him to go and Dyer to have stayed. King n/a - Brilliant tactical move to kill some time bringing King on. Pearson 1 - It was almost as if the team said, 'You know what? Lets have a go at these' and slowly but surely, Pearson dismantled that idea with bizarre subs and the reverting to the long ball. QPR 5 - They are nearly as bad as us.
DennisNedry Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Kasper - 4 - Few decent saves but rooted to his line all day long cost us dearly. De Laet - 4 - Weak defensively as usual but didn't bring his attacking game today either. Wes - 5 - Good game but pointless O.G knocks off a point or two. Waz - 5 Konch - 5 Mahrez - 5 - Offered some threat and looked lively first 20 minutes, faded badly and woeful cover for De Laet. James - 4 - One of his worst displays. Cambiasso - 6 - Fantastic first 30 minutes but his legs had gone second half and was crying out to be subbed earlier. Schlupp - 7 MOTM - Caused QPR problems with his pace all game, great goal and solid. Vardy - 5 - He's gone back to 2012/13 form. You could give him 100 chances and he wouldn't socre. Ulloa - 4 - Was he playing? Pearson - 5 - Correct team and set up imo, could easily have won it with better defending which Nige can do nothing about. -2 points for shit subs. Ref - 2 - Massively biased towards QPR. Cun.t. Linesman nearest us was shit also. QPR - 4 - Bag of shit. Lump balls in to the box is all they have. Fortunately for them we can't defend for shit so it worked for them. QPR fans - 3 - Silent apart from at 3-2. They had one fan (mexican bloke), apart from that they did nothing.
katieakita Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Cambiasso had a quiet 2nd half? did look tired, but nearly scored with a header, put a chance on a plate for Vardy and laid the ball back for Albrighton that broke for the equaliser and was pretty much involved in all the other chances we wasted think Nugent coming on was the mistake, just doesn't look up to the task
1993fox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 The fact that RDL is being rated lower than James is solid proof of how he is the best scapegoat in this team. RDL wasn't brilliant, but James was by far our worst player on the pitch contested closely by Nugent. This favouritism needs to stop. It's pathetic.

ADK Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 I didn't think anyone was shit, gave them all 5's 6's and 7's. I include Pearson there who played the right formation and sent them out fired up then pumped them up a bit after half time, it's just our team reacted like a tyre with a slow puncture, gradually going flat as both halves wore on. I think this is down to nerves and low confidence. Rob Green is underrated by our fans, thought he was very good for them.
GorlestonFox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Some of these ratings.. 2s and 3s. Seriously get a grip. I'm giving up on this.
Dickov22 Posted 1 December 2014 Posted 1 December 2014 Nugent has been our worst performer every week for 8 weeks now pretty much.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 1 December 2014 Posted 1 December 2014 Some of these ratings.. 2s and 3s. Seriously get a grip. I'm giving up on this. Tell me how a back line who have conceded 3 goals and looked like conceding many more every time a cross was delivered deserve a mark above a 4?
