ScouseFox Posted 8 January 2015 Share Posted 8 January 2015 Yeah, it's in great northern. I only ever go cinema there though. Tbf when I'm out on a Saturday night we usually some cheap place (like 5th ave), sometimes casino before. Northern quarter and all that is very very nice but I'm not sure how much your normal night out costs because it's obviously more expensive around that area. yeah i've been round that area a few times because i've been to a few gigs in the albert hall, so it's a quick walk down from the station and then booze around there for a few hours before seeing whoever we're seeing. it is expensive though, like you and i said it's not where you'd go for a full on booze up pre game for a sing song and a few cheap rounds, but i do think if anyone's going friday-sunday or something then you should take in a pint or two and maybe a bit of food round that way. a bit like the docks area in liverpool, a visit if you're in the money or want something different every now and then but if you make a habit of it you'll be out of cash in no time! BoyJones Posted 9 January 2015 Share Posted 9 January 2015 Some advice please. I will be arriving at Piccadilly about midday and wonder where's the best place for a pre match drink. Is it city centre or should I go straight to Old Trafford area. Trouble is on my last two visits (both 1-0, we won one, lost one), the pubs around the ground were really unwelcome and we were moved on. I always wear my colours. Hopefully things have moved on since then and the good folk of Manchester are a bit more sociable. Thanks in advance

Renart Posted 12 January 2015 Share Posted 12 January 2015 I am going corporate for this.... A friend has got me 3 tickets in the VIP section, with a free meal and drinks etc.. I am not sure how I feel - this is going to be a completely different match day experience to anything I have ever been to! Anyone ever done it? I will give you all a wave from the prawn sandwich area!

Foxes1 Posted 12 January 2015 Share Posted 12 January 2015 Tickets haven't arrived after I ordered them on NYD. For anyone who's ever had difficulty with the posting, how did you sort it out? I would suggest that when you order tickets on line you select the option to collect them from the ground. I have done this every time so far this season and called in the ticket office before a home game to pick them up.

I am not sure how I feel - this is going to be a completely different match day experience to anything I have ever been to! Anyone ever done it? I will give you all a wave from the prawn sandwich area! I did that when they played Palace in November. Are you in the Captain's Lounge? It's a great service, they take orders so you've got drinks on your table for half and full-time (as you'd probably expect from a free bar). Our table was full of non-United fans. You're not allowed to wear away colours, but I don't know how they'd take to an away fan cheering in that area, because Palace didn't score. I can't imagine the poshos will give you too much grief I'd never been to Old Trafford in my life before that. Did a tour of the ground in December and after the 31st I will have been there 3 times in 3 months!

GaelicFox Posted 19 January 2015 Share Posted 19 January 2015 Anyone in corporate at old Trafford is in for a treat it's the home of the prawn sandwich brigade and the lounges all serve cracking food and the drink selection is great and generally included in a premium corporate package, be warned NO away colours they are very strict on this as I found out last time we played there apart from that they are a bit more welcoming to away fans than I have found we are in corporate at the KP, the corporate packages bars at OT generally will close at 5.45-6, I have a contact who owns two boxes there and he still has some packages available in the lounge we are going in, just remember no away colours in any corporate lounge at OT
Craig Posted 19 January 2015 Share Posted 19 January 2015 Been in a box twice at OT when I was a kid. The first time was when we took a two goal lead and then threw it away with Beckham scoring deep into injury time. I had my shirt on. It was so good at 2-0. I got so much shit at 2-2. GaelicFox Posted 19 January 2015 Share Posted 19 January 2015 I remember that game like yesterday I had 100 on us at 11-1 , I thought 11-1 was an insult in a 2 horse race was literally spending it at 2-0 there was no cash out in them days , as for colours in a box is a little different than the corporate lounges there in a private box you could get away with colours I have when younger as well
