Guest ttfn Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 We have been beaten by teams who haven't gotten out of 2nd gear. DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING!!!!! You are the 100,000th person to use this nonsensical term this week.
Happy Fox Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Results wise no, but we have competed in nearly every game, and in some of them they could have easily swung in our favour. I dont what people expected us to do this season. I thought at best we could finish 12/13 and we arent too far from there. What planet are u on bro? 9 and 10 point ground to make up even at this stage seems very unlikely!
cjslcfc Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 In reality we are a million miles away from 12/13 place. We have been beaten by teams who haven't gotten out of 2nd gear. :xmasangry: Fvcking hell I'm going to lose the plot soon
The Doctor Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 In reality we are a million miles away from 12/13 place. We have been beaten by teams who haven't gotten out of 2nd gear. Once, by Swansea. Every other team has had to work hard for their win.
chicagofox Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Once, by Swansea. Every other team has had to work hard for their win. Liverpool, Man City, West Ham, West Brom, Newcastle - and that's just the ones I can remember of the top of my head - NONE of these teams had to work hard for their win against us.

chicagofox Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Man City and West Brom didn't have to work hard? Are you stupid or just a troll? I'm neither. Do you seriously think that West Brom had to work hard or in any way played well against us? Fair enough if you do. I'm not here to personally attack anyone. But I (and in answer to an earlier post, no I have not been to any games this season but have watched every league game) witnessed a side in West Brom who were very very average at best on that day and still came away with all three points. As for Man City, they comfortably beat us with ease. It may have only been by one goal but they strolled to victory. We are a soft touch. Get through the opening 20 mins when Vardy's pace looks like it could be a threat (which in reality it isn't at this level) and then ease to victory. That should be every oppositions M.O against us.

West brom was a very even game - they didn't stroll to victory, and Manchester City certainly had to work hard - they didn't stroll to victory: we put up a good fight and restricted them to very little, and had good chances ourselves. If you think they had it easy, then you've answered my question for me: you are stupid.

And actually, I agree with you that it was a very even game.

West Brom and Newcastle could have gone either way. Man city one moment of class in an otherwise even game. Liverpool they were the better side but our mistakes contributed to our loss rather than their superiority. West Ham I agree we were outclassed.

When you said it was an easy game for them, and they didn't have to get out of second gear, the implication is that victory was easy, and that they strolled to it.
Fox92 Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 Am I missing something here... Teams don't have to work hard to beat us. Look at West Ham, we've gifted them the first, they've scored a great goal for the second and in between they've caused us problems at corners. We didn't threaten them at all and our only threat, as in most games recently, has been Vardy's pace which is ineffective when he plays alone. Manchester City were in second gear. Sky Sports said it, even Birch said it on the radio. And you forget that their goal came from an error (not tracking a proven goalscorer). Teams aren't working hard to beat us; we're gifting them to many chances. We aren't hard to beat, we aren't hard to break down.
shailen Posted 24 December 2014 Author Posted 24 December 2014 What planet are u on bro? 9 and 10 point ground to make up even at this stage seems very unlikely! We are not even half way through the season yet. Those teams will drop points, so we can still catch them up

We are playing well in general and competing in almost every game. This argument about teams not being in top gear annoys me because we could argue the same thing, and you can only play what's been put out there. It's mistakes which are costing us at the moment in nearly every goal we concede.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 December 2014 Posted 24 December 2014 The Premier League is like Wacky Races. You've got a bunch of teams of all shapes and sizes all aiming towards one goal. Yes, we all know that Peter Perfect has got the best car (Chelsea) and that Penelope Pitstop has the most money behind her (Man City). Meanwhile the likes of the Ant Hill Mob (Arsenal), the Slag Brothers (Stoke) and the lads from the Arkansas Chuggabug (Newcastle) all find ways to compete to varying degrees of success despite their completely different appearances and methods. Unfortunately, we are Dick Dastardly. We successfully tamper with the gearboxes of every competitor that we play to the extent that they can't get out of second gear, but sadly with the inevitable Dick Dastardly ending of mainly sabotaging ourselves.

shailen Posted 27 December 2014 Author Posted 27 December 2014 so so so frustrating that we picked no points up when we dominated the game. The worst thing about this season so far is that no one has really run riot over us performance wise, so we are doing the right things. I dont even know what we need in Jan, and if it will make any difference to what we have already, or we spend big. Spurs were ruthless in their conversion of chances, although both goals were down to mistakes yet again
shailen Posted 29 December 2014 Author Posted 29 December 2014 its fairly ironic that today I felt we weren't as good as most games in our torrid run and we get the win. Was the Mahrez goal the only shot we had in the game? I still maintain we should have more points based on our performances but it is nice to grind a win out. Lets hope we can go on a run and catch those teams above us.
MC Prussian Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 I don't know whether I could take more of the same type of win on a more constant basis. My nerve system would need a complete overhaul by the end of May. But hey, three points in the bag. Can't complain about that.

"They made it hard for us and it was frustrating for large periods" Teams are having to work hard against us, but we do inevitably contribute to our own downfall. But to suggest teams down get out of second gear is to suggest it's a stroll in the park and easy for them, I'm sorry but that just hasn't been the case in most of the games.
Foxhateram Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Getting fed up with two terms being over used. 1) The word gotten, this is an americanised piece of literature that sounds bloody awful, cut it out! 2) The phrase 'they didn't get out of second gear', for goodness sake, why would a team ever sit back and relax on a one nil lead, not to mention against a side who are desperate for points and fighting for survival. Don't be ridiculous. Give the players credit where it is due, in recent weeks we have given teams a run for their money. We gave west ham a battle but lost out, man city a run, spurs we dominated (how did we not win?) and obviously a scrappy win at Hull. We are starting to look much better on the ball, we even put together some good passages of play against man city and spurs. With that should come confidence, and hopefully wins. Nigel Pearsons blue and white army!
shailen Posted 29 December 2014 Author Posted 29 December 2014 It's a joke to even say that teams were beating us without even trying or playing at their best. Even if this the case, it's a credit to our performances that we have made them play this way. Despite what the points tell you or the position in the league we are not the worst team in the league. Rather we haven't had the luck and/or made mistakes that have contributed to our own downfall. I'd like to see us play more intelligently from now on and hopefully with the luck on our side we will start to pick up more points
shailen Posted 10 January 2015 Author Posted 10 January 2015 finally we are starting to get points for our performances. Do not deserve to be bottom of the table with most of our performances. Competed in every game, bar Swansea for me. Can't believe that three games ago, some people had condemned us saying that we were already relegated.
Haydos Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 What planet are u on bro? 9 and 10 point ground to make up even at this stage seems very unlikely! Now down to 5 within 3 weeks, long way to go son, have a bit of faith!
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 That was hardly vintage from us was it lets be fair, decent performance and worthy of the points but I've seen us play better and not win. Villa, thankfully were one of the worst teams I've seen us play against this season.
