Would you prefer to yo-yo between the top flight and the championship? now we are in the prem I want us to settle here, and who knows maybe in a couple of seasons we could challenge for a Europa League place, our stadium may get expanded.

I don't think anything we could realistically expect to achieve in the PL from here on in would be bettered by last season and beating United 5-3.

The last thing I'd want is our stadium to be expanded- but that's an entirely different argument altogether. We could get a Europa League spot by winning the Cup. You don't need to be in the PL to have that chance. Thinking we'll finish high enough up the league in order to do this is beyond us due to the gulf in finances and class of the sides.

If it was overhyped, then the PL wouldnt have got a new £5bn TV deal.

Demand + Market forces + competitive bidding process x Discovery Channel10  = £5b

So based upon your impeccable reasoning every word that came out of the 5m book deal awarded to Katie Price was worth every penny

Best league in the world and I want us to be here. If it was overhyped, then the PL wouldnt have got a new £5bn TV deal.

Yes it would, Sky needs the premier league just as much as the premier league needs Sky

If we stay up then the next few games will be a fantastic experience and people say they won,t renew either way. Why do people say such rubbish? Every game in the prem has 10x the tension of the championship because of the importance of winning. The championship is just a slog trying to get excited about beating poor but physical teams every week.

I was more excited for Burnley away last season than WBA at home this season.

Exactly. Sky needs the PL because it is the most exciting league in the world. More people watch this league then any other. So why would we not want to be in the PL? Makes little sense

And if we beat west brom away to move out of the bottom 3 or beat burnley away to do the same would you feel the same?

Would be an enjoyable league, if we were doing well and competing in the league.

Pretty shit getting beat every week, maybe if we started winning a few, we might enjoy this division

???!!! We do want to be in it. Not sure how this relates to your original contention that the £5b deal isn't overinflated

I dunno. Having this conversation with the lads last night. I've said from Day 1 the best thing about promotion was the celebrating the actual promotion season. I can't stand the PL brand in all honesty. Unless you're able to do a Southampton (who have yet to go as far as Leed's did in the 2000s- and we know how they've ended up) surviving anything more than one season in the PL does seem pointless IMO. You're not gaining anything from it are you? Ticket prices are generally higher, the atmosphere once the novelty had worn off down the KP has petered out to nothing better than most other seasons I've seen us play in the Championship. Beating United was the peak of this season and even if we stay up for another 5 seasons beyond this- it'll still be the peak/highlight.

I don't want us to go down but I can't see the point in wanting to be in the PL every season flirting with relegation and losing 70-80% of most games either. It's probably the reason why I'm not renewing whether we stay up or go down.

For one, what is it that you cant stand about the Premier League, that you can stand about the Championship and below? Why is the "Premier League Brand" a source of anguish to you?

Secondly, a few people have come out with the arguments you have come out with, and they are flawed and basically rubbish. Your reward for success is to move up to a higher level. So, is a club supposed to never go up or down? And how would that be an improvement on receiving the reward of promotion?

Why does life have to stop at Man Utd 5-3? What is this mentality all about for people?

Whether it is overinflated or not, it's the agreed fee. A transaction requires both the buyer and seller to agree. I'm not using the figure as an argument to what the value of PL is, but to show that it is the best league in the world. You pay for what the audience want

Anyway I just want to see us playing the best teams in the country every week. And when we get that surprise victory over United it's worth 20 times more than any victory in the championship

I'd love to stay in the PL atm but if the new 5bn deal means the fans get cheap tickets (20s plenty) then i'd be desperate to stay in it.

Right, I understand. You hadn't made that clear - cheers.

Whether or not the Premier League is overrated or not is up for debate, but its the highest level of domestic football we have, and therefore it has to be the one we aspire to be in. Or else, how can we criticise the players after a loss? Losing will send you back to the championship. Its double standards from the fans. Anyone that plays sports properly should be aspiring to play at the highest levels, and so should the fans.

Charlton were in the Premier League for a number of years before things fell apart. Do you think they prefer their existence now to what they had then? I doubt it.

Exactly this. What's the point of any team not aspiring to put themselves amongst the best in the world.

A lot of people have said they'd rather we be in the Championship. So would you take us finishing seventh every season for all time to make sure we never have to struggle in the PL again.

It's the ups and downs that make football great. Obviously fans only enjoy the upside, but when you have the downside it makes you appreciate the upside even more. We should always aim to be the best team in the country, which is unlikely to ever happen, but without ambition, we aren't even gonna get close

I love the Premiership. It's got everything. Great players, great teams, the coverage is fantastic.

For me, easily the best, most challenging league on the planet.

Just because we aren't doing well, doesn't make it anything other than superb viewing.

While I love away days at the likes of Barnsley and Scunthorpe, I want to see the club compete at the highest level. The greatest players and the better grounds come with that. I do think the PL is overrated and overhyped and it did ruin football (I'd like to see the PL get removed now) but there is no where I want to see Leicester City other than playing in the top flight. Due to the money and branding of the PL, we'll sadly never win it (unless we're eventually bankrolled like Chelsea and Manchester City) so we've got to take cup competitions seriously. Finishing top ten surely is an aim in itself but the football league is better in terms of competition for me.

Where else do we realistically go from now on then given that doing a Southampton is that unlikely (and they've achieved nothing yet)

I can't stand Sky I can't stand the bankrolling of clubs. I can't stand the way its ruined our national side. I can't stand the prices. The stupid kickoff times.

I just really actually hate it.

Would I heck. Not much would beat that day in Burnley last year.

But yet you want the team not to go up because you dont like the Premier League?

I like top flight football. Unfortunately the PL is that at the minute. Probably always will be.

But now we've 'competed'for a season we're not going to advance any further. I think disillusioned with the PL is what I am
