Nugent - Two in a row

Recommended Posts

Nugent's interesting approach to controling the ball has seen two players booked in as many matches. Against Villa James saw red attempting to rescue a very promising situation ruined by Nugents terrible touch and yesterday say Was yellow carded for, once again, attempting to recitify a mistake of Nugent's making.

I'm sure if you analysed all our players over the course of the season you'd be able to pick up on little things like this...

There is no doubt he isn't playing well. But I you can't blame him for Was and James diving in. Blame him for his bad touches and passing, but not for other players tackling.

I imagine that's what top coaches and managers are paid to do.

Do you have to keep starting new threads to continue old gripes?

Would they have needed to dive in/tackle if Nugent, under no pressure, hadn't given the ball away needlessly?

We play better with Nugent©.

Allegedly

Is all you post about Nugent nowadays? Every post I read of yours seem to just keep taking shots at him?

Obviously and he doesn't make it hard does he.

Blaming Nugent for other players getting booked is quite cynical from fans. Nugent didn't tell James to go for that tackle, did he?

Your shots are worse than his.

I'm not a professional footballer, mind you I question if he should be called one, certainly at this level anyway.

Yesterday we struggled because our centre midfield was decimated by injury and suspension. Injuries picked up during matches we can do very little about, suspensions we can. James was suspended for a foul comitted trying to prevent a Villa counter attack after Nugent lost the ball under no pressure. We conceded a goal to Stoke because Was couldn't get too close to Bojan after collecting a booking in the first half following another terrible touch by Nugent.

I am not blaming any one player for our defeat BUT I do believe life was made considerably more difficult for the whole side because of two needless mistakes in two consecutive matches.

You can get close to a player even though he was on a booking. This is just getting stupid now. And this isn't really in defence of Nugent before anyone else says - it's just a ridiculous conception to blame any player for another player getting booked. And continuing your logic even though it's a bit baffling, surely Was was a victim of his own downfall by effectively being on his last chance after clattering Begovic having already been booked?

Was is a disaster waiting to happen with his fouls.

His amazing skill is not getting sent off for his terrible fouls.

Was should have been sent off for attacking the Stoke keeper.

I don't think Wasilewski needs any encouragement to making ridiculous challenges. He does them most games. His card yesterday for the foul on Bojan was totally reckless and his own fault.

He was indeed, just as he was at Villa away when he couldn't cynically foul to disrupt the Villa counter which led to Hutton's goal. However Was only commited the foul, just as James only committed the foul, because Nugent surrendered possesion needlessly.

Many players can get 'close to a player' but it depends on the player you wish to mark tightly and the defender you are asking to do so. A Was without a booking would have been marking far tighter and would 99/100 commited the foul.

You're seriously thinking that the below two points are true??:

1) Wasilewski only committed that reckless foul because of a mis controlled touch by Nugent

>Absolutely ridiculous to suggest this. Was does those stupid fouls all the time. It had nothing to do with Nugent. More so the skill of Bojan, and Wasilewski's hot head

2) Wasilewski CHOSE not to get closer to Bojan before the goal

> Again, absolutely ridiculous. Bojan scored a fantastic goal from a half chance. Was was never getting anywhere near him and I don't blame him for the goal. Sometimes, you just have to concede that a goal is a good goal. Not look for a scapegoat.

For the record, I don't think Nugent is good enough but to blame him for other player's errors is crazy.

What you fail to realise yesterday is that it was the 2nd time Was had been reckless and rightly deserved his yellow for lunging in, he could have stayed on his feet he chose not too.

This forum actually has become boring. Too many play football manager and think they know everything and try and scapegoat players. Behave.

I don't get everyone's problem with Nugent. Apart from Cambiasso, he has the best footballing brain in our team. He is class, sure he misses a few good chances, but you wouldn't see Vardy get in to those positions would you?
