Nugent - Two in a row

Wow This is getting ridiculous now, what else can we blame on the guy

My cup of tea has gone cold whilst reading this thread on Nugent, so that's his fault as well.

You're seriously thinking that the below two points are true??:

1) Wasilewski only committed that reckless foul because of a mis controlled touch by Nugent

>Absolutely ridiculous to suggest this. Was does those stupid fouls all the time. It had nothing to do with Nugent. More so the skill of Bojan, and Wasilewski's hot head

2) Wasilewski CHOSE not to get closer to Bojan before the goal

> Again, absolutely ridiculous. Bojan scored a fantastic goal from a half chance. Was was never getting anywhere near him and I don't blame him for the goal. Sometimes, you just have to concede that a goal is a good goal. Not look for a scapegoat.

For the record, I don't think Nugent is good enough but to blame him for other player's errors is crazy.

1. He does indeed commit stupid fouls all the time, he comitted this particular stupid foul - the only stupid foul he was booked for - trying to win a ball Nugent had needlessly lost.

2. Watch the goal, he stands off and stands off and stands off. Now if I'm being entirely honest I'd personally point the finger at Matt Elliott's MOTM Konchesky for failing to disposes Walters in the build up

1) Nothing to do with Nugent's touch. Bojan beat a couple of players before he even got to Wasilewski

2) I thought Wes was more at fault for allowing Walters (who was impressive) to get to the ball first.

Erm.... Well I heard he doesnt recycle so global warming is all his fault!

This forum has plummeted into the realms of idiocy, there's always been a difference of opinions, and the usual meltdown after losses, but this season it's an apocolypse every time we concede a goal.....

I don't get everyone's problem with Nugent. Apart from Cambiasso, he has the best footballing brain in our team. He is class, sure he misses a few good chances, but you wouldn't see Vardy get in to those positions would you?

lol Nugent's footballing intelligence is dreadful, takes far too long to do simple things.

Just me that thinks he's playing well then?

Blaming Nugent for other players getting booked is quite cynical from fans. Nugent didn't tell James to go for that tackle, did he?

He didn't give James a choice. If James had pulled out then imagine the uproar he'd recieve if Villa went on to score.

His lack of awareness and football-brain severely hampers this team.

James didn't have to go over the ball either.

What does Nugent contribute to the team?  Against Stoke he had one decent effort on goal, one breakaway when he fell over after being caught up from behind, and didn't keep possession well.  Unlike Rooney, for example, he doesn't drop back into midfield when needed to win the ball back.

Why are people slagging Nugent for? Yes he has missed some sitters recently, but he remains the only player that looks like scoring. None of the strikers made an impact against Stoke so they all deserve equal criticism imo. Can people not see how Nugent links up play. Dropping deeper in the hole, he usually finds the right pass and starts attacks. His late runs into the box look a real threat at times. Everytime we lose, it seems that Nugent is the sole reason, yet on our three game unbeaten run, no one seemed to say anything about him despite him playing well. Scapegoating.

Kramaric may come in and take his position, and it is evident that he is a better player than Nuge. But we have bigger problems in other positions, especially defensively, which I am shocked as to why its being overlooked.

Are you suggesting that, because the England captain can do something that he can't, he's shit?

Have you really just written David Nugent doesn't drop back into midfield to win the ball??? This place never ceases to amaze.

How many times did he win the ball against Stoke?  This season he has one goal from open play, one assist, he doesn't win tackles and his link play hasn't been that amazing.  So why is he starting?

I am not talking about Rooney's goal scoring or forward play, just his tracking back being far more effective than Nugent's.

Yesterday we struggled because our centre midfield was decimated by injury and suspension. Injuries picked up during matches we can do very little about, suspensions we can. James was suspended for a foul comitted trying to prevent a Villa counter attack after Nugent lost the ball under no pressure. We conceded a goal to Stoke because Was couldn't get too close to Bojan after collecting a booking in the first half following another terrible touch by Nugent.

I am not blaming any one player for our defeat BUT I do believe life was made considerably more difficult for the whole side because of two needless mistakes in two consecutive matches.

If at all, the marking leading up to Stoke's goal was terrible. You don't stand away from you immediate counterpart and virtually let him walk past by you.

As stupid as Wasilewski's yellow card was, nothing indicates he would've been booked a second time just before Bojan scored if he had positioned himself better.

You failed to answer the question, and then came out with some more waffle. More than likely realised how stupid your initial post was.
