Stringer: "i'm still not convinced"

John Persys 'he will be in charge for the Arsenal match' suggests to me he has been asked to take this to be paid up.

Suggests to me that's the next match - particularly given the club statement says he remains the first team manager and talks about him and his players looking to the future and keeping us in the premier league.

Who's having a bad day. I am very chilled and relaxed and really do not care one way or the other about any journalist. You and all the other childish folk on here seem to have an uncontrollable urge to be childish. What intelligent person cares about this Stringer chap anyway. Who is he, does he matter....................... Get over him. This is a football forum.

Stringer is not a journalist, though.

And if you didn't care, why responding in the first place?

Fetch yourself some coffee and some fresh air and combat that bad hairday of yours.

I find most of this absolutely bizarre. All these young? posters getting angry with a journalist when we have a manager who just does not know what he is doing.

Our team is bottom. Let's just forget previous seasons and all this rubbish about Pearson deserves this and deserves that, he 'deserves' sweet 'fanny adams', nowt, zilch. One thing he will deserve if he doesn't already is the sack.

What is all this absolute childish tosh about a frigging journalist? What are you guys on? Have some cocoa and go back to bed.

Children nowadays should be kept at home with no access to any media or comminication technology until they can demonstrate they have adequate common sense.

Get a life and move on, who cares about whatever his name is, the journalist chap?

Whatever he says changes nothing OK? What we do need is change. Either Pearson to become a better manager or someone who is a better manager.

'Simple As'!

All this no smoke without fire is pure bullshit. Most ridiculous phrase ever.

basically means every rumor is true because it has been started....

Depends on the context.

If you were the chelsea press officer and a journo phones you and asked you to confirm if Jose had been sacked - you would just deny it as crap cos you would know it would be BS.

Clearly, our press people didn't have that same confidence.

What do you mean 'stringer is not a journo'?

Of course he is

He's a football commentator. It's like calling Gary Neville a journo because he calls a few games, asks a few questions and writes the odd column.

Stringer clings onto to his job because his commentary half decent. That's it. His journalism/interview skills are piss poor and he's a prize twat so other being a semi accomplished commentator he's got naff all going for him.

Really???

For me he summarises the whole time and never actually commentates .... he fills time with chat and I haven't got a clue what's going on on the pitch.

He's a shocking commentator!!!!

You should try listening to the local commentators other teams have to put up with sometime. Stringer isn't the best commentator ever, but he is in no way the worst or distinctly terrible at it.

Seriously try tuning in to Forest or Derby's commentary one weekend, then you'll see how bad it can actually get.

And we know his professional qualifications?

Actually - looking at his website, it would appear he has no qualifications so I guess that makes you half right. He is a broadcast journo but I accept that without a recognised qualification, he is struggling to call himself a qualified journo

Maybe another 10 years experience and he can do so!

Stringer is a journalist, just not a very good one.

Gary Neville is a pundit. Very different. Stringers job title is Sports Journalist. When he moves on he'll be a journalist somewhere else. He's not very good but lets not be unrealistic about his job title and role.

Seeing as he's been stopped from asking his questions at the main team he covers I'd suggest journalist was pushing it at the moment. Even when he is allowed he's more fan/presenter than journalist

I'm sorry, but a journalist comes with qualifications, expertise and an education.

I mean, I can call myself a journalist like that without ever having attended a corresponding school. It's so simple.

Stringer is not a journalist. He's a football show presenter and commentator on a local radio station.

As much as I hate Stringer I think the local media know what has happened but don't want to sour the relationship with the club by fully reporting it.

On Twitter that guy from The Mercury has tweeted something along the lines of, I 'think' something has happened so read between the lines, in a tweet defending the Sky reporter.

Also, the Sky reporter who broke the story refers to his source being well connected so don't be shocked if Pearson isn't here by the end of the week. John Persys 'he will be in charge for the Arsenal match' suggests to me he has been asked to take this to be paid up.

No football club would ever ask a manager to take charge of a game knowing that they'd been given the boot - why risk a disgruntled manager undermining the efforts to get something from the game?

They'd just get caretakers to do it.

I think the funniest thing of the whole night was Stringer having to rock up to work over nothing. lol

I think the thing is that he didn't have to go into work. Since when did a Leicester manager being sacked require an emergency football forum on the local radio?

It was all just further sensationalising of the situation and almost an opportunity to revel in and celebrate it.

The only special programme BBC Radio Leicester should do in the event of Pearson being sacked is a special programme documenting and celebrating the achievements that he made during his two spells in charge and the roller coaster ride that it has been.

Gary Neville writes for a leading national paper, is well respected and well listened to by the fans and those in football and is the face of football for one of the leading companies in football coverage. Oh and he's also an assistant coach for the English national team.

In short Gary Neville is more of a sports journalist then Stringer will ever be. Stringer is a ten a penny local radio commentator who has ideas above his station. That's it. He's a nobody trying his hardest to be somebody, and he's failing miserably.

Whether you think Pearson should be sacked or not, all sides surely agree that Stringer is an absolute clown.

This. It's not really about Pearson, it's about Stringer being a dickwad.

Yeah but his business card says sports journalist, so that's what he is.

I've seen Stringer down Coalville Town before.  He reminds me of that slightly geeky kid that had no mates, who everybody had one of in their class at school.

Posted

he acts at being impartial but it is clear he dislikes Nige. He reveled in Pearson's confrontation of the 'fan', he is waiting til the day Pearson is sacked. Hope Pearson out stays Stringer. I back the players and management not talking to this muppet
