Langley Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 If players didn't want to join arrogant managers then Mourinho, Feguson, Clough etc would never have had any players! I'm open to criticise Pearson but the constant "arrogant" criticism is rubbish. Some of the greatest managers ever were arrogant. “I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one.” “Rome wasn’t built in a day. But I wasn’t on that particular job.”
hackneyfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 We didn't get decent players in because we would have been the last but one team most would sign for, Burnley being the last. I don't think it had anything to do with NFP BUT It may make a difference should we get promoted again under him as he will be seen my many as a manager who struggles at this level.
Fox92 Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 “I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one.” “Rome wasn’t built in a day. But I wasn’t on that particular job.” Exactly. I admire Cloughie for everything he did, one of the greatest managers ever, and he had that arrogant side to him. Just like Ferguson did. I'm not sure why people criticize Pearson for this - he isn't the first and won't be last.

Don't have a problem with the manager believing in himself and having the biggest ego at the club a la Ferguson. I also expect Managers to have their favourites but to continue to shun Albrigton even when Mahrez and Schlupp are having mares I don't understand.
Alf Bentley Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Pearson doesn't seem to have been a problem when it came to getting in promising young talents from France (Mahrez) or Man Utd (James, De Laet etc.), or players with extensive Premier League experience (Huth, Upson), or one of the most promising young international strikers in Europe (Krameric), or one of the most successful, respected midfielders in Europe (Cambiasso).....

Absolutely!
MPH Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 All this Leicester being a dump is not washing it with me as a reason to not join us as a club. No one is asking a player to live in a council house in Braunstone,. or New parks or *insert you least favourite area here*. There are some absolute high class and beautiful areas for someone to live in who has the money.... And quite frankly if someone doesnt want to move here because the nightlife isnt up to what he wants then then i don't want him at the club anyway - i'd want someone who is primarily motivated by the football over the nightlife.
cullenfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 It's not Nigel Pearson's fault we're not attracting players. Our league position and our displays in some of the games are the major reasons.

We have got the players it getting Nigel 'its all about me' Pearson to get them to perform. There's no me in TEAM

Don't be silly Alf, Maloney didn't sign for him so he must be an arrogant arsehole. I don't mind criticism when it's rational but this 'arrogant' argument and is just people using every stick they can to beat him with.

m4DD0gg Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Would imagine there are a few deals that we did not hear about falling through because said agent and player could see that Coco was a complete caaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnt
Alf Bentley Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 We have got the players it getting Nigel 'its all about me' Pearson to get them to perform. There's no me in TEAM There are certainly arguments to be had about Pearson's tactics and team selection, and they've been amply discussed in other threads. I've seen/heard precious little evidence of player discontent, though. Whatever our failings on the pitch, there's been no lack of effort - and I don't remember hearing of players criticising Pearson or demanding to be put on the transfer list (GTF wanted a move as he wanted to play 1st team football, so it was arranged; Nick Powell's loan was terminated, allegedly by LCFC due to his lack of commitment; can't think of any others).
cullenfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Is this tongue in cheek? If not who else is to for our league position and displays? Maybe some of the players? I know he picks them but they are the ones on the pitch and they are the ones who have to score goals.
Donut Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 I would say Pearson has a flat out arrogance, as opposed to an arrogant "charisma" in the way a Mourinho, Clough had for example. But no, I dont think he is the reason for struggling to get new players in. And whos to say in his eyes we struggled? He was probably very happy with the squad.
hackneyfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Maybe some of the players? I know he picks them but they are the ones on the pitch and they are the ones who have to score goals.Perhaps he should stop picking them then? After this number of games the buck stops with the manager.
Guest MattP Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Perhaps he should stop picking them then? After this number of games the buck stops with the manager. Yet after 46 games it's more to do with the back room staff and people who make the signings.....
HankMarvin Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Hamer is a reserve GK. He hasn't doenanything to show he's a starting GK in the Prem. Kasper failed, he was given a chance, he was as average as the rest of the team. We bought Schwarzer in to see if he could do any better. He's about the same as Hamer (better leader, better distribution, not as good shot stopper) but with more experience. Hamer in doesn't save our season. Coincidently picked up 11 of our 17 points in the 8 games his started as opposed to 6 points in 17 games with the other keepers starting
Corky Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Would imagine there are a few deals that we did not hear about falling through because said agent and player could see that Coco was a complete caaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnt So why does Pearson seem to have a good reputation with players, club staff, even top managers are prepared to send loan players to us if he was this arrogant bully who treated players disgracefully?
RedSoxUK Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 You're talking bolux OP Money / A options, and wankers kept us from signing certain players, but we managed to land two of our best bought naturally talented players in Cambiasso and Kramaric. I think some of that comes down to the club / management / and the structure within it. As for missing targets in January - we are bottom of the league. As for lack of signings in Summer - we were not established in the prem.

cullenfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 I still maintain its not all Pearson's fault. However his management style is not helping.
cullenfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Perhaps he should stop picking them then? After this number of games the buck stops with the manager. As if Pearson will drop his favourites. Yeah, you have a point.

It's weird and obsessive.
