red5 Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 I've looked everywhere but can't find anywhere that says Pearson's sacked, surely he had to go before Poyet.
5waller5 Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Crazy isn't it. I just cannot fathom how he's still in work. I'm a big fan of the owners but this does seem to question their ambition for the club.... watching this and doing nothing.
Donut Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Probably because our board has accepted we are down and when the deal is sealed he will be sacked, whereas Sunderland's board know they have more than a fighting chance of staying up.

Whilst I know a lot of people say this - i really struggle to see any logic in that.
Guest MattP Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Had Pearson took over a side who were lower mid table last season and been in the position he is he would have been sacked by now I think. I think he'd have gone had we been 0-4 at home to Villa as well.
queensguardfox Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Because we havnt been humiliated yet! a lot of teams have at least been thrashed once, but because we are always competitive and 'Could of' won matches he keeps his job
queensguardfox Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Would a win at Spurs change anything? 4 points from the last 2????
l444ry Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Because we havnt been humiliated yet! a lot of teams have at least been thrashed once, but because we are always competitive and 'Could of' won matches he keeps his job I think being marooned at the foot of the table is as humiliating as it gets!
Donut Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Whilst I know a lot of people say this - i really struggle to see any logic in that. Purely financial i guess, along with the fact that if we are eyeing up young highly promising managers like Howe and Warburton, or the vast experience of someone like an Allardyce (and please dont come on here Pearsonites and say my names are rubbish, im using them for illustrative purposes), are in jobs now and wouldnt leave them at the business end of the season when they can still achieve with their clubs
5waller5 Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Would a win at Spurs change anything? 4 points from the last 2???? How likely do you think that is??? I honestly can't see us winning again this season .... and that's from quite an optimistic fan ..... so surely it's time to get rid at that point???
Donut Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 I think being one of the worst teams in Premiership history is pretty humiliating myself.

But at the time few people thought he was good enough .... so surely there are names out there that would be a left field choice that could come in for a short term and see what they could do with the current players before we confirm a longer term appointment in the summer. I'm even warming to Cambiasso as a caretaker.

I wont write anything off it is Leicester city after all, What I can see happening is win against Spurswe will just hanging in there then the bubble will burst last day of the season.

Cant be much worse than not going for it, losing narrowly and bemoaning our luck. 3, 2, 1....

I'm even warming to Cambiasso as a caretaker. Short Term: Martin O'Neill. Short term contract, would unite absolutely everyone behind him, fans and players, would be a figure that every player looked up to, would get a more ruthless attacking style going that for a short period of time may spark a revival. And if it all went flat, he is free to leave in a couple of months time.
Jaspa Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Cause its a different club run by people who are still in a different position. It seems people are smelling blood on this forum. What are we going to gain from a change now? We'd either need someone with unfathomable power to win six or seven games now or someone ideal for building with this squad for the future. I still hold that if the players and the board are still behind the management setup we have in place its worth considering keeping it. There are attractive propositions like Big Sam who knows Nigel well and how he runs the show, he might be able to add something that will click, others will possibly need time to assemble their plan and team and anything else would be a miracle to hit the ground running. Alot of reactionary grumpynes about, still

Cant be much worse than not going for it, losing narrowly and bemoaning our luck. 3, 2, 1.... We have our own Paul Scholes here in Cambiasso. Who knows how good he is? he could be one of the greatest managers in history when we look back in years gone by, but if Pearson is to leave at the end of the season anyway, we have absolutely nothing to lose.
queensguardfox Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 What about Harry on a short term deal? Your joking right?

Alot of reactionary grumpynes about, still I love this word that is trotted out to defend Pearson. Have a look at the league table.... have a look at it for the last 3 months. Then check our results for the entire season ..... then have a think about how "reactionary" wanting the pr1ck out of our club really is.
Guest MattP Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Your joking right? Yes I was hoping to catch someone out being up for it.

It's really worth a try .... and would suit all parties in my view .... If he wins a few we can decide on what to do next season, and if he doesn't we haven't lost anything anyway - he was going to get paid as a player anyway.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Sunderland have ambition and don't want to go down We clearly couldn't give a fvck
Donut Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 Gus Poyet??? hes out of work, and has shown he can go in and have huge short term impact with what hes got to work with. What is to lose?
shailen Posted 16 March 2015 Posted 16 March 2015 He has had some horrendus results like the 8-0 loss and the 4-0 loss yesterday at home against Southampton and Villa respectively. They play some horrid football and just for that he deserves to go. We on the other hand, although we are underperforming, have looked a threat in almost every game, and at least we show intent whereas teams like Sunderland don't. What was refreshing to see was how their fans reacted on Sky Sports saying that it was the players fault, not much too do for the manager. Very similar to our situation. I know people will tell me he plays the wrong formation/bad tactics but he has changed this so many times throughout the season and it has not worked once yet. Tactics are only good if your players perform and produce the quality. We haven't. If we put 10 at the back it doesn't mean we wont concede and if we play 10 in attack it doesn't mean we will score. The players have to perform and that's what the underlying problem has been and remains. Take their chances. Although, if we go down I wouldn't overhaul the squad. I would keep most the players in and make a few tweaks to it because I believe these players have the quality but have not produced it
