Poyet gone, why not Pearson?

Recommended Posts

No it wasn't.

it kicked off the season in the Premier League.

So its either a manager without a clue of what skills a Premier League player needs to be successful, one that cant attract anyone to the club, one that completely evaluated the players he already had here wrongly, or one that didnt have the nouse to get performances.

So now we sit bottom of the league, we ignore all of that and whats happened this season, and we talk about how his objective was building a young championship side?

This is hillarious. What a nugget.

At some point the Thais have to make a decision. In some ways it seems pretty pointless to get rid of him now but without him and 10 games to go could we do any worse?

This is all down to the owner's naivety on footballing matters. They surely know that Pearson has to go at some stage and at this low point it seems an ideal opportunity.

I wonder what the situation would be if one of their King Power employees was so abysmal at their job?

good post - with one one exception...  the point of getting rid now would be to send a message to the employees and fans of the club that what we saw on Saturday was just not acceptable.  Running an organisation (say King Power... as you suggest) surely you have to have standards otherwise you are just undermining those on your payroll who do strive for better.  It is just not acceptable to have someone in pearson's role who goes in to such a game with such a poor ambition.  Whatever the costs there is value in making this point.

Short term options are pathetic and are mostly embarrassing - I can't see Blunderland getting anyone of any real importance or skill as a manager, they've been hovering at the wrong end of the Premiership for a reason. Poyet was sacked because they've been pathetic in performance and results, in a free fall, and they 'hope' a short term replacement can change that. They've been in the Prem for a number of years and don't want to drop out of that.

In terms of why we haven't sacked Pearson.

We don't need to, it's costly, it can tear the team apart, and it can ruin the form of players and raise questions to do with their futures and positions at the club - tearing apart the success of last year rather than getting back to it with the same man. Pearson is proven in the Championship at creating a very good attacking and challenging team with his backroom staff, if the owners want to sack him because we've not challenged enough this year, then fine - theirs reasons to sack Pearson sure, the 'incidents', his behaviour, and lack of understanding of the tasks hes had to face come to mind when his position will inevitably be reviewed at the end of the season.

I think they'll take a long look at what they want the future to be, and their number 1 goal will be to get promoted back to the Premier League, as a stronger team, and retain a place in the Premier League - I think Pearson is the right man for the job. Remember we're a promoted side just like Burnley and QPR, no amount of investment can buy you the luck of escaping the drop as a newbie with the big boys.

You are Wrong!

In terms of attracting players, that isn't really in his hands. It's the image of the club and the fact we were able to attract Esteban and Kramaric kinda makes that point invalid and most importantly the DOF was overseeing things in terms of transfer activity. I'd argue that the majority of his signings have been effective to some decree, it's just the lack of activity in crucial positions. He gave the team who walked the championship a chance this season with a few minor adjustments and they've failed him, you can't fault him for giving players like Drinkwater, Vardy(He looks as if he's starting to pick up again, but for the majority no) a chance. We haven't gotten any worse, we've simply gotten a reality check and we've realised how huge the step to premier league is. I don't agree with the young championship side thing anyway

Maybe the owners aren't that fussed we go down.  Nice little payoff from parachute payments to recoup some of their investments.  Sell the club off to the highest bidder, they've had their fun in the sun, raised their own profile a bit and walked away not losing too much money.  Job done.

Doubt it's "job done" walking away losing money

Job done could be recovering x amount of losses given what they ran up in the first couple of years.

They own the training ground and stadium as well don't forget.

No, the Einstein quote is about doing the same thing and expecting different results.

You turned it around on its head to say chopping managers was "doing the same thing" and that it wouldnt produce any different results.

So by your logic, Spurs would still be managed by Juande Ramos, Ian Holloway would be managing Crystal Palace and Alan Irvine would be at West Brom.

You keep using this phrase "by your logic" but I don't think you understand the concept of logic.

But keep believing that sacking Nige will improve the results if it helps you sleep at night.

Fact is that the squad isn't ready.

The same squad that finished above QPR and Burnley?

The same squad that got a Champions League Winner and had £20million spent on it?

If it's not ready with those upgrades then whose fault is that?

Loved this statement for its simplicity and truth. You could replace "logic" with hundreds of other terms too and it would be quite accurate. It has become clear now that it's the people with a sense of proportion and reason that are ridiculed here, and always by the ones who are in no better position to make judgements than anybody else but still deliver their opinions as if they are leaders in the field. It's like you can't have an opinion unless you shout it in caps and disregard even the possibility you might be slightly wrong about something. Throw in some feigned incredulity and a couple of personal jibes when someone tries to present a balanced view and you've got a standard FT argument.

We need to act soon.

If we are going to get ride of Pearson we need to do it asap. I am hearing Sunderland are lining Allardyce up, now Sunderland are a far more attractive propersition that we are, they stand a chance of staying up for one, but with Allardyce out of contract at the of the season with West Ham not renewing of we stand any chance of getting him we need to act soon.

We gone, we're dead and buried so it's a case of will Allardyce drop down to the Championship, I think the answer is yes, unfortunately though I don't think he'd be willing to do it with us though.

Eh?

This is a young, Championship side that Nigel Pearson is developing.

Peter Taylor took over an experienced Premier League side and dismantled it. No comparison whatsoever.

Its entirely possible sacking him could cause results to improve. Why is it bad logic to suggest that?

We are talking about 10 games. THE SHORT TERM.

Was sacking Lambert to bring in Shwerwood illogical then? have the clubs who have changed managers had exactly the same results?

Why isnt the squad ready? Your man is running the club. So why isnt it ready? where does the buck stop?

You didnt even make a point in this post im quoting, all you did was have a little pop and make a really weak point about the squad not being ready.

You dont really have a point anymore thats the problem. Logic has been used to defeat your feebleness.

All this silly I'm sick of negativity bollocks.

What do you expect when we are bottom of the league, and have played some pathetic stuff since September time, there is nothing to be jolly about.

People calling him to be sacked its seems more of a punishment for the way things are going, which is wrong the wrong way to think..... if we are going to get relegated who better then him to bring us back up... its his squad and if he goes to another championship squad some players may well follow...... I bet you if we sack he will be at Wednesday with there new owners. We have had the days of sacking managers all the time.... I still believe consistency in management is better then swapping for a string of bad results.

Why do people completely ignore that the situation at the start of next season will be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to the situation at the start of the 102 point season, as discussed in several threads with regards to the makeup of the squad.

And why should we care about Sheffield Wednesday and what they do?

Hull on saturday

Villa FA CUP

Villa away in the league

Swansea away

Southampton away

Stoke home

Palace home

West Brom home

Newcastle away

Probably more. there have been loads. Close scoreline doesnt mean great performance.

because....

they have rich new owners

a 3 year promotion plan

Np is a local lad

I'd rather him next season then risk or guess with another manager.

Ask your self.....'IF' we are in the championship next season would you rather have NP or a new manager?
