I chose The Seahawks when I first started watching because I liked the logo and dark purple colour and so I brought a hoodie as well, which I still wear to this day.

Then I thought about switching to The Steelers purely for the gold/black colours but they were so shit at the time I couldn't do it.

Nowadays I don't really follow any team.

Funny, I live in Hamilton where we have a CFL(Canadian Football League) team that wears the black and gold, so a lot of supporters here also support the Steelers.

Also, Hamilton is known as the 'steel' city, which Pittsburgh is also, in the US.

Maybe based on that, people here would support one of the Sheffield teams.

What reasons do you support the team that you do in NFL? Is it just vibes?

Double reason for me:

Started following in 1990 watching Channel 4 & watched week by week waiting for a team to emerge. Then, on 7th October 1990, I was blown away by the Houston Oilers. The logo, the colours, the Astrodome, the run and shoot offence & was instantly a fan. I then got to watch my first game live in 1992 at Wembley - Redskins v 49ers, and supported the Niners. (My mate I went with was a Redskins fan and rubbed it in a lot when the Skins beat the Oilers the year before on a last minute field goal miss - so I had to go with San Francisco). They became my 2nd team. My teenage bedroom walls had cut outs of calendars & catalogues, with the Oilers on one wall & the 49ers on the other. So the 49ers got promoted to my only team when the Oilers became defunct :(.

Went to the States for the first time via working at Summer Camps for a couple of summers after leaving school. Didn't really have a say in where I went, but ended up near Santa Cruz, to the south of San Francisco. Loved the place & made a lot of friends in the Bay Area & have been back since, so adopted all the local teams: Giants/Sharks/49ers.

Just coincidence that both reasons led me to the same team! Just a shame the only Super Bowl I've seen them claim was all the way back in 1995 when they were still my 2nd team...

Was introduced to the NFL via Madden by a mate who was a Ravens fan back around '05. He had a Ray Lewis Jersey. That was it.

It's been many things but never boring.

Was undrafted and spent the first part of his career in the CFL playing for the Edmonton Eskimos, before making his move to the NFL.

Only player to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Football League HoF.

My aunt had one of her friends over and she brought her friend with her who was from Pittsburgh and got talking about the NFL so I just naturally starting following the Steelers.

That was it!

It still stirs the emotions looking at pics from back then...

Autographed WARREN MOON 8X10 Houston ...

They were 9-7 that first year of 1990, and then became a regular season powerhouse: with the next few seasons of 11-5, 10-6, 12-4.

But they didn't even make it as far as an AFC title game. In 1991 they had to go to the Bills in the Playoffs who were dominating the AFC at the time. A pick 6 just after half-time made the score 35-3 to Houston... we all know what happened next.

It was fun while it lasted!

I was still living at home and was watching the game with my dad. First half was so frustrating as a Bills fan, and when we started the 2nd half throwing the interception, I'd had enough.

So I'm now downstairs, watching something else, when my dad comes down the stairs and says "You might want to put the game back on".

Still remember that so well :D

Salah fired by the Jets. He's not a good head coach but I'm not sure what that achieves as their defense has still been decent and Hackett/Rodgers are remain in charge of the offense. Hard to see anything other than Rodgers retiring at the end of the season and the Jets rebuilding.

I was watching it on Channel 4, but had to go to bed just after half time. I remember they actually switched to a different game as the game was dead and buried, and had just shown the highlight of the pick six as I went upstairs very happy.

I used to just about manage to pickup Armed Forces radio in my bedroom if I got the dial positioned about right. That night, I couldn't pick it up other than just the really excited start of a sentence of "The Bills...". So with just that phrase to go on, I spent the whole of the next day replaying that phrase over and over in my head, with the sense of dread building, and then watched the rest of Channel 4 on video that evening to see the sorry thing play out.

Still hate the Bills to this day!

Could be good timing. The door is wide open for him to come back as DC for the 49ers...

He would be a massive upgrade for the 49ers at DC, that's a good shout

Anyone remember listening to the NFL on armed forces radio back in the early 80's?

I think it was called BFBS and the signal was a bit crap on MW or LW.

I used to listen on my little transistor radio in bed as a youth at some ungodly hour.

Edit: I've just read @Golden Fox post above lol

Yes indeed. Signal fading in and out all the time. It was a result getting about 2 mins of continuous commentary. I particularly remember following Tony Eason and the Patriots on the radio in the '85 season when they won an unprecedented 3 road play-off games, only to be wiped out in the Superbowl by Mike Ditka's ferocious Bears

Ah yes, Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, William 'The Fridge' Perry etc.

Wish I was still as interested in today's NFL as I was back in the 80's and 90's.

Must have lost interest at some point and for some reason. A bit like F1..

I was at that game too. In fact I went to 5 American Bowls in a row starting in '89 (although I seem to have misplaced the Raiders/Saints programme from 1990, or maybe I just didn't buy one that year)

Just the 2 for me.

Surprisingly managed to find the programmes within about 2 mins - just above Play Off final programmes! And loads of Leicester Panthers ones.

That 49ers one got used so much - playing the 49ers on Madden on the Megadrive and looking up the numbers in the programme. Back then, it was accurate numbers in the game, but no names! I watched their old Superbowls recently, and couldn't believe how many players I knew from numbers alone.

Why does it always seem to be the same teams anytime there's a game in London? Any reason for this?

The Jaguars have a long term deal to play 1 game a year, so they are regular.

I think they do actually share it round a lot other than them. Its a real pain for teams to come over - particularly from the West Coast, and they do complain if they have to do it too often!

Jaguars make sense as I believe the Khans own them who own Fulham. Would love the Steelers to play in London one day as that's probably the only realistic chance I'll get to watch them. As much as I'd love to go to Pittsburgh and watch a game it's just easier and cheaper money wise to try and watch them over here. So hopefully one day they'll have a game in London.

Damn that looked nasty for Hutchinson for Lions. Broken leg by looks of it...

Looked to me like his leg was impacted whilst dangling in the air rather than set on the ground. Unusual one

Yeah like a mid-air impact that has just wrecked him.
