Guest Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 First for 10 years. Must be worthy of at least one thread. Hero. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/9786902/David-Bowie-releases-first-single-in-decade.html
Guest Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 Shame about the song though.... Dull Melancholic. Reflective, A comment on the present day.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 1 Shame about the song though.... Dull Agreed. Melancholic. Reflective, A comment on the present day. No, the dull meanderings of an old man. I've always said that rock/pop stars should be culled at 40 to prevent them creating anything open to ridicule. It's a very rare talent that can still make great music into their 5th decade and more (Young, Dylan, Cohen... it's a short list.)
Smudge Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 1 Agreed. No, the dull meanderings of an old man. I'd need to listen to a few more songs before I'd draw any conclusions about his current ability. The last album I bought of his was "Heathen" a tribute to the Pixies, wonderfully produced and powerful. I especially like his version of Cactus.

You know what I don't think I have ever heard a Neil Young Song Where do I start ????????????

My reply wasn't serious, I wouldn't make a judgement until I actually heard his album. Can't agree with your list either. pretty sure I've liked quite a few Sting tracks in the last 21 years, Arjen Lucassen has put out plenty of highly talented music since he hit 40, Peter Gabriel, Roine Stolt, in fact there are so many over 40's making great music.
Mack Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 This has been all over the news today. And the music journalists are all masturbating over this release. Sadly it's crap, and just because he made it does not make it any good. A bit like the i phone 5.
Babylon Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 [ You know what I don't think I have ever heard a Neil Young Song Where do I start ???????????? Neither have I... just listening on Spotify, don't think I'll carry on zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
21st Century Fox Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 His son's one of the hottest properties in Hollywood right now and he went with that video!!?
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 I'm a huge Bowie fan Hunky Dory (1971) The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972) Aladdin Sane (1973) Diamond Dogs (1974) Station to Station (1976) Low (1977) All the works of genius, things got a bit boring in the eighties but I think some of his more recent stuff is quite underrated.
Zingari Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 I've just heard one of the songs on the Simon Mayo show on my way home and it doesn't sound too good. His voice sounds a bit quivery .
AoWW Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 His latest Shame about the song though.... Dull Agreed.
Webbo Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 They've played it virtually once an hour on Radio 2 today. It's okay, nothing special.
Webbo Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 Great vocal performance in this. Just a great song. PS. Who puts on a Bowie voice when one of his records come on the radio?
Mack Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 I've just heard one of the songs on the Simon Mayo show on my way home and it doesn't sound too good. His voice sounds a bit quivery . Have you ever heard him sing before? It was like that 30 years ago.
MC Prussian Posted 26 February 2013 Posted 26 February 2013 Unlike the rest of the album and my scepticism for the old/elderly Bowie, I like both the track AND the video for "The Stars". Bowie and Swinton make such a wonderful couple. They could also be great siblings in real life.
sdb Posted 3 March 2013 Posted 3 March 2013 Is the stream still available? I couldn't access it the other day. It's getting rave reviews, hopefully not from rose-tinted nostalgia.
sdb Posted 3 March 2013 Posted 3 March 2013 I just get a blank page when I click. Argghh!! Cheer though rico - I did find it at least!
