Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 Evening all, Well we've had the original idea, the list of contributors names, the emails with Peter Jones, the calls with Peter Jones, the meeting with Peter Jones (who I have to say all along has been fantastic), countless emails and phone calls back and forth with the staff of Barmy Flags, many of you have contributed any amounts - mostly £10, we've had a couple of 20s, one 30 and one 50. Now the flags have been ordered and the smaller flag will make its debut at Crystal Palace on August 2nd. The larger flag will take longer to produce but should be delivered in time for the first game of the season against MK Dons on August 9th. The larger flag will be displayed over the empty seats between N Block and the away section. The smaller flag I will transport to every away game. At this stage it's doubtful I will take it to home games although if anyone wants it for L1 then I'd be happy to bring it up for you to collect before games. I'd like to personally thank everyone who contributed, particularly the younger members of the forum to whom giving a tenner away on blind faith is quite a big thing to do. I hope we can make the flags worth it for you all, whether that be organising a mass signing or photograph, getting a few of you in the Mercury or whatever. You gave your money, any ideas you have are most welcome. It's also worth thanking the club for their support with this idea. They've been extremely helpful all along, primarily Peter Jones but also Chris Tinbergen, the manager of the ticket office. Both took time out to meet with me and show me the stadium so we could see whereabouts within the stadium the larger flag would be displayed. It's ended up being quite an undertaking and I just hope everyone feels it's worth it when they arrive. I want to just break down how it's been paid for; I set up a Paypal account for the flag. We received a total of £444.47 into this account. We also had cash contributions totalling £40 at Hinckley. There was one payment of £30 wired straight into my bank account - all making a grand total of £514.47. NB - I gather there will be one or two more payments coming in over the next few weeks but these can be limited to cash contributions from a couple of my mates at friendlies now. I don't want any more contributions to the Paypal account now, simply because I have now ordered the flag and you would effectively just be paying me for no reason! The actual flags cost a total of exactly £600. This was broken down as; £350 inc VAT and delivery for the 20 ft x 10 ft flag. Quite a big price due to the crest which is hand-stitched (thus no need for the vector graphic) £150 inc VAT and delivery for the smaller flag. £100 (IMPORTANT) - this will cover flame retardant material for BOTH flags. It was originally thought that just the smaller flag would get this treatment but upon speaking to Barmy Flags tonight they said they could do both for this cost. This is obviously a huge help and means we get the fire safety certificate covering both the bigger flag to be displayed over empty seats within the stadium and the smaller flag for away games. Once again, thanks to everyone who has contributed (especially the larger amounts) and also to those who have helped over the last few weeks, most notably Daggers, JTB, Monk, Hullfox and A Fox For Life. The final designs can be viewed in the larger threads. I will probably edit this post to include the images later on. The final text decided upon for the bigger flag was "LEICESTER CITY F.C. THE WHOLE WORLD SMILES WITH YOU" and for the smaller flag "FOXESTALK.CO.UK LCFC 1884 ON TOUR" If anyone has any further questions about the process, any suggestions for the future when the flags arrive or if you would like a refund, please let me know. Cheers, Fez

Simi Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 If anyone does pay something into PayPal, stick it towards the running costs of this site?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 July 2008 Author Posted 21 July 2008 If anyone does pay something into PayPal, stick it towards the running costs of this site? Probably easier for me just to delete the address. I'm not going to check it, less actually transfer it across. Not sure what the running cost situation is at the moment? If we could do with some money then we can come up with a different idea for the future. I need a new project once the flags have been delivered.
