davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 The worst it's ever been yesterday. Not sure if it's because we haven't scored much recently but yesterday - oh dear. Talk about control and performing monkeys - they were right on the ball with it starting as soon as the ball hit the back of the net but the affect when it finished oh so quickly - 15, 20 secs . Have you ever seen a crowd switch off and silenced so uniformly absolutely shocking. The music stopped, the crowd on cue conveniently stopped as one and sat down like good little boys and girls do when the head teacher enters the class room. This was followed by what seem to be many expulsions as I noticed several people being frog marched out.
Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Funniest (Or should I say the most embarrassing and painful to watch) was after the second goal the music didn't come on straight away and to me it looked as if people were waiting for the music to start before they celebrated!
davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Author Posted 10 August 2008 its the same as it was last season Well the music maybe but people's response to it has become more controlled and exact. The spontaneity of a football crowd is being seriously eroded. It's no wonder there are complaints about the atmosphere people are losing the art of acting impulsively and reacting to situations in a humorous and exciting manner. They either can't cope with out some sort of signal and if they do react spontaneously they are more than likely to be expelled. It seemed to me like anyone that carried on standing up cheering the goal after the music stopped was in serious danger of being expelled. We'll soon need a clapping machine to let people know when it's time to clap a decent bit of football, we already have the drum to indicate when to make a noise.
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 This is what really gets me. The club are concerned about the lack of atmosphere at games, and then they go and do the one thing that kills any possible atmosphere or source of!
l444ry Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Makes this club, and any other parties that partake in this bloody nonsense, an absolute embarrasment. It's so frustrating to have to curtail your own natural celebration for this childish crap. For me, the only downside on a great start to the season.
Foxy1984 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 It cut short my celebrations. It's hard to do your own thing when everyone around you is doing that silly dance. It was good when it was delayed for the 2nd goal because i had a chance to celebrate!
Jordan Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 From the radio broadcast, "Chelsea Dagger" sounded like it was being blasted at a ridiculously loud volume.

Foxy1984 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 And on another note - what was the fiar play thing getting a child to read stuff out before kick off!!!???!!!!????
Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 And on another note - what was the fiar play thing getting a child to read stuff out before kick off!!!???!!!!???? That was awful. I know they want to get the point across but it was just awful.
Father Ted Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 The music was awful. The Chelsea dagger symbolises our relegation season but I also realised we could well do with Goal music at The Walkers but not the Chelsea Dagger.
purpleronnie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Its one of the reasons I will never go back.
Simi Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I noticed a few people in L1 yesterday completely stop celebrating when it came on. Tommeh, Kilworth and myself all looked at each and just stopped when it came on. It's painful. I literally cannot celebrate to it, it's now become impossible. Call me miserable or whatever, but I feel such a clown dancing to it like a mug.
blueharmie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 has anyone told the club about this? its embarassing. Its martin allens fault he put it on. Its just so shitty why cant they stop playing it??
purpleronnie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I emailed them and they stated the amanager wanted it. But when I asked if he came up with the idea or was he asked which song he thought should be played they never got back to me. I think we might be in the minority. But it really does kill any noise from the crowd. It would be interesting what the clubs stance would be if people from here contacted them. I would say complain to them not on here and maybe just maybe things might change.
Simi Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 has anyone told the club about this? its embarassing. Its martin allens fault he put it on. Its just so shitty why cant they stop playing it?? I have on many occasions. Have you? I urge anyone who hasn't already to write into Peter Jones and tell him your views, more the better. [email protected]
Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 has anyone told the club about this? its embarassing. Its martin allens fault he put it on. Its just so shitty why cant they stop playing it?? We had it well before him did we not? I remember him saying he liked it but i'm sure we had it before him.
Mark Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 We had it well before him did we not? I remember him saying he liked it but i'm sure we had it before him. We had that ridiculous PHG remix blasted out every time we scored previously, I don't know whats worse
blueharmie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 We had it well before him did we not? I remember him saying he liked it but i'm sure we had it before him. i will send an email to that guy, not that it will do any good. im sure martin allen was the one that put it on, i remember him saying he changed the music when he changed all the flowers at the training ground or something stupid like that.
Magictv Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 When was the last time we didn't have music, I'm not sure if I remember or not...
JoelGoddard Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 And on another note - what was the fiar play thing getting a child to read stuff out before kick off!!!???!!!!???? It was only marginally better than getting the kids to read out the teams last season; and given how awful it was to hear some snotty nosed kid getting players names wrong, it just goes to show how bad the club's latest effort to involve the kids is. There must be someone at the club somewhere who is clever enough to understand that people really don't care about the message being put across; and that if they want it to have some effect then they should not use kids to read it.
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 has anyone told the club about this? Yes. The majority of the FCC think it's a good thing and in the absence of any mass protest, they put the apathy of a lot of fans down to approval or acceptance of post-goal music. Unless more people complain, as Ched suggested, then don't expect the music to go away.

Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Simple poll to gauge opinion. If it gets a good enough response (i.e. enough people respond) I will bring it up at the next opportunity.
