Isn't it like a 4-year ban? What's the problem? It's not as if cannabis is a performance-enhancing drug.. As far as I know, he's not currently in training for any major tournaments. Not for the first time, the NOTW is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill..

I'm not sure whether he can or not, probably can't if it's not performance enhancing. Different sport I know, but footballers get bans for failing drug tests for any kind of substance. I know cannabis isn't the hardest drug in the world, but this hardly shows him in a great light does it? For the athelete he is, it's kind of disappointing.

I hate all this role model bollocks, every teenager has been offered/done weed before, just because Phelps is doing some off-season doesn't mean they are going to. Id be much happier with the cannabis charge than this Cannabis is not performance enhancing..so a 3 month ban at worst less harmful than alcohol, so better him do that than get drunk. Get over it people.

He was out of training at the time, just won how ever many gold medals and was at a party. Why should he be different to anyone else? If it was a performance enhancing drug, then I could see the problem, but I think it is a load of rubbish myself.

Perhaps the most successful swimmer of all time. I can see where you're coming from, but at the end of the day, he needs to be more careful with what he's doing. Surely, he, and you'd know that something like this would get publicised, especially with it being someone like him. Not really setting a great example either.
