Gaffer Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 First Poll I've done, Hope it works! Thoughts? Would be nice to see how optimistic people are
Asha Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 We'll do a Swansea - finish about 9th. And I'll be happy with this.
Fosse Boy Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Judging by the fact that three people have voted "champions" so far, I'm guessing most people are deciding to vote flippantly (myself included).
Legend_in_blue Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I think we can make the playoffs. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't finish comfortably in the top half. Considering the small points margin between midtable and the bottom.
Daggers Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Midtable is good for me. Playoffs would be incredible. Getting to Wembley would be amazing. Anything better than this is unthinkable. I hope that no matter what Pearson is our manager this time next year, he has earned the right.
Joe. Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Mid to lower table I think. I'd just like to see us competing next season; another season of defeats, despair and poor performances is unthinkable.
Granno Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I would be more than happy with a secure mid table position. As long as we never, ever get sucked into the mix at the bottom ever again
Salieri Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Bit difficult to predict until we know what players will be coming to (or leaving) the club in the summer. At this point however, i'll go for a safe mid-table finish which would do me just fine! P.S hope everybody has had an excellent weekend of celebrations, I know I have and am paying the price, bigtime!
maddog Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Its way too early to say. Need to see who we sign/sell, how well we play pre-season, who our manager is etc, Pearson may go to Boro Id like to think we will be in the playoffs pushing for automatic though, but rekon we will be in about 14th.
clazkel Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I think firmly in play-offs. Hopefully we can carry the team spirit from this season into next, and hopefully keep the main part of the team the same. I know we need more players but i hope many players stay the same, as too much change isnt good! And i think Pearson will stay but i do worry that someone bigger than us will come in for him!
Guest Bilo Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 We'll do a Swansea - finish about 9th.And I'll be happy with this. Agree 100%. Absolutely no reason why we can't emulate their achievements so long as Milan backs Nigel and the Big Man makes the right signings. We've proved a tough team to beat and this can continue into next season. Bristol City reached the play-off final, Swansea came close to makiing the play-offs and I think we should aiming for a similar position.
act smiley Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 A decent unspectacular 16th or so. Which is fine. Playoffs is the dream, of course, but blatantly unrealistic!
Tilley Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Missing out on play-offs. I'd be over the moon with a top 10 finish.
Mort Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Can still remember all the high hopes folks had at the begining of last season and look where that got us. Having said that, we've done well this season; gone up as Champions, scored a shed load of goals, played some decent football and we've got a setteled, motivated coaching and playing staff with a level headed, experianced manager - there's no reason why we shouldnt do credibly so, on balance, I'm optimistic
C-man Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Give me 3 years of play-off heart-break until the Premiership goes some way to becoming enjoyable and cheaper for fans and then promotion would be nice. I seriously would be pleased if we had nothing to play for after 40 games.
iancognito Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Head over heart, upper mid table with hopefully an outside chance of making the play-offs. I don't think we can go up again given the quality of some of the clubs we'll be playing, definitely not automatically but we all know that the Championship always depends on putting a run together. Two or three wins, you're a play off team, two or three defeats and you're down with the dead men. Given that there'll be the likes of West Brom, Middlesboro and maybe Newcastle or Blackburn plus a choice of Birmingham, Reading and Sheff Utd, and at least six local derbies it'll be harder than ever next year. We need to look at what Swansea have done and take heart and look at what Forest have done and be realistic. It's pretty heartening to see just how many people are happy with mid-table next season, if nothing else this season seems to have made us all a bit more realistic about where we should expect be.
J.Lisemore Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Mid-table i think is the genuine aim next season. Anything more is a bonus.
carterfox90 Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 just fail to get into the play offs imo want to be more optimistic but it all depends on who nigel buys in the summer we will know his intentions if we get some real class players in & not has beens looking for a last pay check
Daggers Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 IIn one year we will all be living in under water cities and have sex-robots
Guest Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 IIn one year we will all be living in under water cities and have sex-robots Scuba gear for the away trip to Newcastle then
Monk Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Lest we forget that there are some piss poor teams in the Championship. I don't think the bottom half of the Championship is much better than the top 7 of League 1, really. Especially this season. So, assuming we don't throw it all away I would expect us to finish 12th - 14th with no changes to the squad. However with a couple of purchases in the close season and in January maybe we could mount a late push for the playoffs.
