Koke Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Sousa is a credible manager. Definitely the best option out there, and I'm happy we're [allegedly] getting him, especially considering the usual shower of shite we were linked with. Happy with Sousa.

Happy with Sousa. yepp im happy aswell, the leicester mercury's list of candidates the other day were a joke, iain dowie, mickey adams etc. i just wounder how much money he has to spend ( if he has ) and if he will raid his old club swansea
ramboacdc Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 never heard anything bad about him so i cant judge him and i hope he does us proud
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 If we have any money and he fancies raiding Swansea, I wouldn't mind him bending Darren Pratley's ear about coming here....
MPH Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 If we have any money and he fancies raiding Swansea, I wouldn't mind him bending Darren Pratley's ear about coming here.... He can bring that angel rangel with him too.
richardsfoxes Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Hopefully will be a very good manager for us and actually get us playing nice football, the question is, how much dosh will milan give him, will DJ go or will Sousa/DJ fancy his chances of playing. Interesting times, looking folward to the new season .
poopbutt Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 best of the realistic targets out there at the mo, don't want us turning into a 1-0 team though
skinnydipper Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Maybe if Sousa's the man we'll see the return of the Shush Happy times for Thracian Sad times for Manwell My link
Mort Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 If true it's good news, there was a big risk MM might revert to putting his faith in an out of work veteran manager (names like Gregory, Megson, Dowie etc... spring to mind)... if he is after Sousa it suggests that he's learned from appointing a younger, emerging manager and wants to do the same again - that at least is encouraging.
ROS5 Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Sousa is a great option. Got Swansea to 7th last season, and yes lets hope he doesn't get us playing defensive and get 1-0 wins. Hopefully he won't becuase we've got fryatt, and Swansea didnt have a prolific striker. Milan needs to give him some transfer money though.
Craig Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 If he turns us into a 1-0 team and manages to get us promoted... to be honest, I couldn't care less
teblin Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 If he turns us into a 1-0 team and manages to get us promoted... to be honest, I couldn't care less Agreed!
davieG Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Wales online. LEICESTER CITY are weighing up an official approach for Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa. While Swans chairman Huw Jenkins yesterday insisted he hadn’t be contacted by the Foxes, it is understood that Sousa is still one of the leading candidates to replace Nigel Pearson at the Walkers Stadium. The Portuguese is still the favourite for the role with a number of bookmakers and sources in Leicester have indicated he is being considered for the post. One of the main reasons Sousa is being tipped for the job is that he is understood to be good friends with Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric. The former Portsmouth supremo is said to have a great respect for the work Sousa has done with limited financial resources at Swansea and invited him as a special guest in the chairman’s box for Leicester’s play-off semi-final first leg with Swansea. It was initially thought that a potential stumbling block in any move for Sousa would be the need to compensate the Swans. But, considering the size of the Portuguese’s wages and the fact Leicester received a reported £350,000 as part of the deal that took Pearson to Hull, that may not be as prohibitive as first thought. Jenkins though, has so far remained consistent in his beliefs that Sousa will be in charge at the Liberty Stadium when the new season begins on August 7. The former Champions League winner is yet to make any comment on the speculation, but, unless things change dramatically, he is expected to return for the start of pre-season training tomorrow. Murmurs of a strained relationship between manager and the board still persist. But, insisting he meets Sousa on a regular basis, Jenkins continues to deny any rift as the club prepares to try and build on last season’s seventh-placed finish. “I have never had a letter, an email or a phone call from anybody at Leicester,” Jenkins said. “There hasn’t been any contact and I have got no idea whether they are interested in Paulo. “I am not commenting on speculation. I have had a meeting with Paulo and he is concentrating on Swansea City.”
Jimothy Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Didn't really see all that much of Swansea last year. I know they didn't score a lot of goals, but how much of that was down to bad finish rather than not creating chances? All I can remember from Swansea's season is this And with finishing like that it's no wonder they didn't score many.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Some Swansea fans on another forum are glad to see the back of him, and a Portugese lad I spoke to on a football torrent site a few months ago said he hated him for being such a boring manager. That said, Swansea still finished 7th last year, and the man has two Champions League medals in his cabinet, so he can't be all bad!
davieG Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Not that experienced as a manager but everyone has to get that from somewhere. Apart from his ability as a manager it's critical that he can retain a relationship with Mandaric/Hoos and any new owner.

He didn't survive too long with the Briatore board at QPR with upstairs meddling, though he was sacked, rather than quit. Compared to Briatore, Mandaric is like Randy Lerner

Interesting thing about their lack of goals was the fact sousa brought in 4 or 5 strikers!! None of them were prolific and his nous re: the transfer market seemed to be badly lacking!! I think Sousa is a really poor appointment!! He hasn't proved anything yet. He inherited a good squad of players who lacked goals. Hence why Swansea played well but struggled to score!! I will be massively disapointed with Sousa as i really dont think hes our man!!!!
Edwards-lcfcfan Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Sousa-good replacement for a man that has served well over the past few years, oh and by the way whats the name of that song on the kuqi vid? thanks
Shrenchel Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 I don't like his trousers. I'm looking forward to Thracian butchering a prostitute to death or something when Paulo sets us up to get a 0-0 at home to S****horpe though.

marbelladave Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Interesting. Could well be a class act for us, surprised we are prepared to pay the kind of money (wages and compo) that he will cost... Bearing in mind that no manager is perfect and that few at our level tick as many boxes as Sousa, I think he would be a solid choice if we can get him. The fact that he already knows Manderic is a big plus too. He believes in playing passing football, which for me is the key. As many of you know, (I've gone on about it often enough) I believe that there is considerable potential in the current City squad that was left untouched by Pearson's over cautious and uninspiring approach, Sousa might just be the kind of coach to bring this out. Overall, I think is is a candidate of rather higher quality than I was expecting, I thought a lower league manager or a number 2 looking to step up would be more our level, (Steve Clarke was my choice,) but to get an experienced and relatively successful Championship manager with progressive ideas would be a fantastic result. I'm actually getting quite exited by this, I'll be gutted if it doesn't happen now. Nigel who?...

I live with Swansea Season ticket holders and all they do is moan about Sousa's signings and his tactics. Everyone seems to have the impression he will be brilliant but he hasn't been as impressive at Swansea as what everyone seems to think!
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 1 July 2010 Posted 1 July 2010 Would be very happy if this does happen. Still think that he will be appointed because potential investors will have heard of him rather than NP though. Still if it brings in some much needed investment then who's going to argue that it is a bad thing.
