Was on the Heath today and saw Melvin Bragg, no Wout Faes though.

I doubt anyone would have the time or energy to do a PhD and play first team QB for a major college
-
For the artichokes apparently in the 70s they opened up the naming of the team to the student body with predictable consequences...
-
That sounds like a PhD to be fair
-
Best team name has to be the fighting artichokes

I like college football I just wish they'd tell you what they're studying. I guess most of the big linemen are doing business management or something similar or perhaps I'm just being prejudiced. Love it when you get some speccy walk on kicker winning the iron bowl or something in the last second.
-
Is the college stuff still on TNT? Not a massive gridiron fan but the college football was always quite enjoyable for the reasons outlined above. Would love to go to a game in the southern states some time.

Yes true about austerity although as economic policy it's still pretty radical, and tbf the Cameron government was one of the most right wing we've ever had. Not sure what people mean when they talk about the state of the EU. Many countries especially in western Europe suffer from similar problems to us but still have superior quality of life and infrastructure and the countries that transitioned away from socialism have seen their living standards rise massively. I don't really know what the solution is but I think that a lot of Brits erroneously believe we are a rich country still and we simply need to redistribute wealth from people less deserving to those who need it more.

It's not 'centrism' that has precipitated the decline of the British state. It's a combination of global changes and quite radical and very stupid economic policy like austerity and Brexit which is partially in response to anti immigrant feeling. Nothing centrist about it at all.

Leicester City, worst ever squad numbers

Eadie definitely wasn't a number 9 -
No but I think England is more susceptible because of the language and also a more desirable target because of reasons outlined in my first post. My point is that 'truth decay' is not really anything new. The English press and media arguably pioneered it.
-
A lot of what the English complain is misinformation about their country circling online is basically what their press and politicians have said about other countries since forever.
-
Palace are in the conference league though
-
Something great about those players when you know what they're going to do but can't stop it
-
You're moving the goalposts somewhat. If someone didn't want to sign a player because they've supported a cause they disagreed with, I would never say they are xenophobic.
-
No you wouldn't Also there's a bit more to Israel than just disagreeing with their government
-
Yeah it is to be fair. Got a bit rattled by MadsEmil

Yes they have. A poster was replying to me basically asking "why don't you really like Solomon eh eh?" and called me bigoted. Another poster talked about Islamic terrorism and attitudes towards Muslim players. The implication is clear.

During the American led invasion of Iraq Americans travelling often pretended to be Canadian for obvious reasons. The fact is if you are seen to support, even tacitly support, your country's actions then people will judge you on that, rightly or wrongly. And your countrymen's actions taint you, as Irish in Britain will know and as South Africans will know. Now I'm not saying that Solomon is necessarily a bad person or that he shouldn't play for us, but people will have more reservations at the moment about signing an Israeli or Russian player especially if that player has not explicitly condemned what their country is doing. Worth remembering also Israel is judged obviously not just by the events post October 2023, but also what the country has been doing for decades. One thing this thread shows is how many people have internalised the lie that Israel gets more criticism, and Israelis are more disliked, because they are Jewish.
-
None of those people are Tunisian or support terrorist groups as far as I'm aware?
-
Remarkable. I think we best leave it here as you've clearly convinced yourself everyone is biased and prejudiced, apart from you of course.
-
Disliking Israel more than Poland is "bigotry"
-
Sorry Finnegan
-
Yeah but you see I dislike Israel more than any of those countries. Also, comparing Poland's new president to what Israel is doing is beyond "silly", it reveals your own biases and prejudices.
-
Has he condemned what Netanyahu is doing? Fair enough if he has, as I said I don't really follow footballer instagram pages that closely.
