I can understand some of his decisions yesterday, I actually don’t mind bdr, I’d prefer to see Mukassa but it’s hard to argue that bdr doesn’t do the dirty work and for a team with no clean sheeet in 30, I understand why a manager might prefer that to a creative kid at this moment in time. The one that I can’t piece together though is daka getting dropped. It’s not like he wasn’t working hard and you never know if he was going to be in a patch of form after a goal. Ignoring the fact ayew is useless, it’s just rare in football to see a striker dropped after a goal. Especially as ayew was available for Ipswich, so it’s not that he couldn’t have picked him. I wonder if he plans to rotate the strikers to keep players fresh

I think it’s a case of waiting until the end of the season. We are still technically in a honeymoon period. You have to see how the players react over a sustained period of time. If the effort levels are there for the rest of the season and the tactics/selections are working then of course he should get the job. Always the chance we feel safe and the players go back to doing the same half arsed efforts as before. the problem with assessing a manager in a relegation battle is that often the players raise their games simply because the magnitude of the situation hits them. I don’t doubt rowett is the right man for the moment but it’s hard to tell if the players are putting in the effort for him or because they finally realised we’re in big trouble

I don’t disagree but he goes from something very tidy to miscontrolling a ball 20 yards. It’s just one that feels he doesn’t really ‘have it’ I don’t think the consistency will ever be part of his game. you hate players like that because they suck you in with the good moments but never follow it up. He’s our best striker by a distance and I hoped that a good run as the #9 might see him turn a corner. At this stage we just need a mini purple patch from him desperately. I think the moment I realised he wasn’t going to work here was actually watching Zambia. He doesn’t really stand out no matter who he’s paying against. Yes he gets a few more goals but you don’t watch and see him stand out and some of those defenders are league 2 levels

Yeah daka is an odd one because it’s his all round game that I think is poor. He does the running but his awareness and touch are some of the worse we’ve seen. He has flashes of doing something well but he just doesn’t have the consistency of a professional footballer. I don’t think the finishing is a problem and it’s what got him where he is in a career but because he doesn’t get many chances he snatches at things. You just never know who you’re going to see on the pitch

Or perhaps his decline is partly because his football went stagnant because of cooper, at an age where you simply need to keep playing. And not just that, his role changed so drastically I think it was always going to be tough to transfer back to a regular right back. He spent a year ignoring defending and not to worry about leaving gaps. It’s hard to undo a lot of that .

The one positive if it is Enzo, is that he must know there’s a big reshuffle happening. Which we all half doubted with Rudkin still being here. But it definitely gives us a bit of hope that maybe top is clearing things out and if what he’s putting together attracts Enzo that has to be a good thing
