Is defending a dying part of the game? Teams playing loose football and not caring about the back line appear to be getting rewarded. Spurs, villa and brighton the obvious ones that appear to be focusing on scoring goals and not too concerned about keeping things tight. But even man city, liverpool and arsenal seem to be fine with allowing holes in the back line. Newcastle seem to be the only successful team that are still building off of a solid defensive line. Enzos system is similar imo, we just aren’t conceding many due to having so much of the ball and pressure but there are still visible gaps that we are happy to have in order to allow us an extra player forwards.

iversen? yeah i’d think so. Hadnt proved himself when he got his deal and likely got a reduction when we went down.

If enzo doesn’t rate him enough to be a bit part player in the championship he’s obviously going to sign someone else for the prem. In truth, almost anyone on the fringes will likely be replaced if we go up. You can’t be overly sentimental with the step up.

can’t help but feel he will never excel at the top level because of his physical conditioning. You need to be more than just technically excellent at the highest level and i just feel like he’s holding himself back with something he could probably fix

no Ba or pritchard. Ballard is supposed to be a very decent cb, he’s had a fair bit of prem interest. Then obviously clarke and robert’s the 2 to watch out for. Decent team and i’m sure they won’t just park the bus. You’d have to think it will be our biggest test of the season.

exactly. Typically when someone in football says someone has all the tools, that means the physical ability to do things. It’s commonly used to describe someone who mentally isn’t applying themselves to take advantage of the talent… which is what @Aus Fox was alluding to.
