  1. How will it be a 'net gain'. For it to be a 'net gain' we'd have to score more within two touches of the ball from a goal kick than we do concede within two touches from a goal kick. It's currently 0-1 for conceding.
  2. Fickle AND pretentious.
  3. A better player than Damarai Grey.
  4. The Stadium announcer pronouncing Faes as 'farce' just has to be a piss take.
  5. It is something I was unprepared for going into full adulthood. When I was a nipper I'd have slept like a dream until midday. Now it's up and awake at 2 with no ****ing chance of sleep.
  6. Unfortunately, the majority of the fan base want a dogmatic manager. I pointed out the lack of depth in the tactics when we were winning and was met with hostility. One poster called it 'breathtaking' and said we didn't need any other plan. It happens cos ya let it; all involved at the club have allowed this complacency. We've the most talented squad in the division. Better hope the manager can sort something out.
  7. Are you part of the midnight wake up club after drinking, too?
  8. Both the owners and the fans love dogmatic leadership. That's it.
  9. The hard truth. Not a comment on Maresca but they were big big chances.
  10. Why isn't Coady playing?
  11. Goodness me, my dudes, the bad news just keeps on coming doesn't it? It's hellishly bad at present isn't it.
  12. I'd argue you have a short memory. That last season he was with us I saw 80% of his games home and away. The bloke looked less bothered than almost any other footballer I've ever seen and I include Gareth Williams in that. He simply gave up. He did have the odd good game because he's immensely talented but, largely, he stunk the place out. And it isn't an isolated case either. It was very much the case at Monaco too. He's got form for doing **** all if it doesn't suit him.
  13. This won't stop the conspiracy theorists going utterly nuts over it.
  14. I think he was outstanding in a Chelsea team that was at the tail end of its outstanding period. Since they’ve hit the skids he’s become pretty poor. It’s a mentality issue - he doesn’t have the elite mindset like Drogba or Lampard to drag performances out themselves and others. He’s lost 6 out of 7 finals with them and that’s partly the issue. This type of player used to be called ‘big time Charlies’ but ‘mentally fragile’ is more germane. See Milwall away. Or the last season with us when the chips were down. He’s wrapped up in his own importance, that lad. Could be brilliant if he was a bit more self aware.
  15. I keep trying to see past that as he's given us a final and a semi-final. However, the tactics in that final were honking. One-nil up after ten minutes was the invitation to actually play the game rather than sit back and try not to concede. Eighty minutes of panicking followed by frankly negligent penalty taker selections. It still hurts.
  16. The sky is the limit. We have teenagers at the ground that offer you support in getting through the turnstiles. I had a season ticket at Filbert Street but sure, I need help navigating the complex entry systems. The game has left the communities that built it and is now some weird HR/PR mutant.
  17. Whereas the premier league is tiny by comparison and sure to have a team of Lionel Hutzs?
  18. Has it been given a release date on Xbox, yet?
  19. I think when you say screw modern football you're actually meaning screw the Premier League. There was a chap on TalkSport a while back who pointed out just how embarrassing the Premier League has become and he was so on the money it was painful. Foreign fans must look on and laugh at : The inability to get VAR right in any way shape or form. It isn't just for a few bits or bobs here and there it's a total inability to use it efficiently. The money awash throughout. It's not really a sporting competition anymore - perhaps in a nominal sense. But it's become more of a financial playing field with Premier League teams seeking to ringfence and protect their bank balances. Why the hell would they want that competition played out in a football match!? The ownership. I'm aware other foreign leagues have foreign owners but I can't think of another foreign league where there aren't any national owners of the clubs in their top division. The community element. You know who has more influence of what is happening in the Premier League than the match going fans? The fans of Africa/Asia/South America. These are lucrative markets by comparison. The points deduction situation. The chap who spoke on TalkSport said it a lot better than I am about to but he was right - we're supposed to be the global standard and we're meting out point punishments and appeals mid-season. The impact of this on the league and teams is significant. It also speaks to an ad-hoc management of the league. The transparent rule massaging for the elite. It's obvious. It's clearly obvious. It's like the financial doping of Barcelona and Madrid. Painful to watch. All of the things that made the Premier League great are dead or dying and in its place we've just got a horrible garbled mess of avarice.
  20. A keeper and Justin away from what I'd say is our strongest line up.
  21. Yeah can't say fair enough. He's hardly going to say ' I hope we get Liverpool or Man City so we can be spanked like a naughty school girl '
  22. There seems to be a need for extremism amongst the support base at all points. You should never moan. We're top of the league vs Crikey O'Rielly it's the dooms day. The reality is, however, that the club has - over the past 5 or 6 years - regressed significantly. The supporter base is largely the same. Seeing the club in such an unhealthy position, comparative to the last 5 or 6 years, has upset large sections of the support. It is hard to appreciate being top by X points because we shouldn't be here in the first place. That's why people are negative. Only 4 years ago we were competing for the Champions League and looked set up for a decade plus of success. Now we're in financial peril and scrapping about in the Championship. It doesn't take intensive study to understand exactly why folks who watched some of these very players play for us in the Champions league aren't exactly thrilled. With the above in mind - it has been a relatively fun season. And I'm sure people would admit that. The cup run. The winning run. A new manager. There are bright points. But - realistically - if the fans AREN'T complaining about our regression then they wouldn't be fans, would they? I don't think a fan's role should be to blithely accept the club going backwards without comment.
  23. It's not just thinking it but also vocally defending it. It's no wonder the country is a shit hole. If you challenge people yakking shit on the floors you're just going to get abused. I think it's deeper than rubbish and general laziness. As a nation we've allowed the less intelligent to become more vocal and have added footing in society. Very much an anti-intellectual society driven by narcissism. Don't like what someone is saying? Get online. Get hostile. Insist you are the most important factor. Receive validation.
  24. Local to where I am school kids often leave bagfulls of shite on the local cricket ground. Any form of criticism and the parents are vitriolic in defence. 'Oh they're just kids; they need to let off steam' etc. It's a taught entitlement and probably a generation or two old. I don't think it fixes.
