  1. In 1917(yes that date) a temporary the one in the photo war memorial was erected to all those who died in the inappropriately named Great War. This was replaced in 1925 by Lutyens’s memorial on Victoria Park, although the temporary one was not taken down until 1954ish. Boer war memorial on north east corner was first commissioned in 1903 but not built for some years.
  2. Would recommend a visit to New Walk Museum, for the Leicester Vista exhibition is interesting albeit disorganised.
  3. War memorial in the Town Hall Square is for the Boer War.
  4. Went to the Western for one pint on a lunchtime walk, the place is in a sorry state. Pint stunk like fart/egg- Mystic by Everards. Staff member was conducting a family meeting across the bar. I miss a Steamin Billy pub in the city. Also whoever checked off the redecoration should be sacked.
  5. The bloke he ran the Prince of Punjab is dead …
  6. Has to be tenants like that, don’t want another Sommar either.
  7. He shouldn’t have been sacked by Gillingham, would probably get Cambridge as play off challengers within eighteen months.
  8. I just wish someone would take on the Brewdog building.
  9. West Brom have been steady all season, dead certs for the play offs, squad not strong enough for automatics most probably. Corberan is one of, if not, the best coaches in the Championship. He has done great at getting more than expected with the squads he’s been in charge of!
  10. Does he believe Maurizio’s has knocked Peter Pizzeria off the number one spot for pizza in Leicester?
  11. So they can tell their mates down the pub.
  12. Well the extension to the truce by two days is a good start.
  13. He’ll probably score against Wolves tonight. In all honesty it’s very sad, he was one of the best strikers outside the top 6.
  14. It’s a common name in Lincolnshire.
  15. Two pints in the two tailed lion after the game, one was steeple chase by round corner and the other was a girl from mars, a very decent IPA by Buxton Brewery. If I still had Untappd they’d have hit 4, although I think steeple chase works better as keg than cask.
  16. It will only get worse if a change of ownership goes through.
  17. May be a struggle selling him in January as clubs may prioritise players not going to the AFCON. I’m a big fan of his and believe he will sign a contract, however I think the time is right for him to leave.
  18. I think Iheanacho was that bad yesterday that Cannon didn’t need to play to move up.
  19. Feel like after yesterday, Vardy is 1st choice, Cannon has moved up to second and Iheanacho 3rd. Daka is still cleaning their boots nonetheless.
  20. Yes so would I but I’m sure he’ll back himself. He’ll attempt to do what Rodgers was attempting with us and use Villa as a stepping stone.
  21. I think Emery will end up at Man United.
  22. One thing that frustrated me yesterday was how often their RCB Porteous would clip the ball into the middle of the park, we hardly did anything to intercept it. Must have been 6/7 times in the first half!
  23. I do have that.
  24. Unfortunately Radio Leicester has no choice but to make these cuts. Give it a couple of seasons and there won’t be any live sport broadcast.
  25. That’s the key thing for me, I’m not expecting Souttar up top for the last 20 necessarily but sometimes pushing Ricardo further forward or having more than 1 striker on the pitch are warranted.
