Wout to Monaco (loan with ~€8m option, official)
Jazzy_Jeff replied to CloudFox's topic in Transfer Talk
Looking at his situation objectively; He joined us as a replacement for Fofana which I imagine was rushed through due to how Wes dealt with it. He was then made to play CB for a lot of the season with Amartey as Soyuncu and Vestergaard were out of favour and Evans was injured. We all know how that season ended. Championship season he was good despite having to cover vestergaards lack of pace and the space voided by Ricardo moving into midfield. Last season was a howler - for everyone. He didn’t play well - but in fairness how many players did? Could a new manager with a new centre back partnership bring out the best in him? We won’t know until we try. -

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Not sure anyone pays that. I’d love to keep him so hopefully the club won’t buckle and accepted a lower offer. Thought he looked very good (and happy) at today’s game. -
James Justin (signed for Leeds, official. 10m.)

Not sure I believe him, too much of a coincidence that journos have reported interest and then he’s got a “knock”. Makes even more sense with the news of VK’s more serious injury. I’m assuming JJ now goes and VK stays. -
My thinking is that prospective buyers wanted to make sure he was match fit before committing. Him playing the 90 mins today should remove any doubt and I’m sure we’ll see him move in the next 24/48hrs.
-
He should be 1st choice centre back. He would form a great partnership with Okoli or Faes. Ship Vestergaard out and let the three of them compete for the two spots with Souttar back in Jan.
-
The frustrating thing for me is that his first two actions were to win the ball that lead to shots on target. Problem then is when we pass towards him it just bounces off him. It’s got to be confidence as I know better Sunday league players with a better first touch.
-
If Traore completes his move to Forest (as reported by Percy) I could see him going back to Fulham. Harsh as it sounds I don’t think anyone else would take him

Brilliant 1st half, well done boys! 🦊

4/11 right 🤣🤣🤣

Because Marti inverts the RB and Hamza is better suited to this role than JJ
-
Will be interesting to see the lineup today. It should in theory be the side that starts next week (injuries permitting) and might give us an insight into any players close to moving on. My guess is we will line up like so; Stolarcyzk Choudhury Faes Nelson Thomas Winks Ndidi Mcateer BEK Monga/Mavididi (depending on Stephy fitness) Daka
-
The first talk of a bid came from their page though. Posters on here had suggested him but the likes of O’Rouke only named us after a Wycombe page on X had said we’d made a bid.
-
I’d be surprised if he was on £3k a week now. I reckon £10k would be a huge life changing increase for him
-
If he’s only had a couple of seasons in league one he can’t be on a lot. he would be a sensible pickup but I would be reluctant to hang my hat on him as main striker. Him and one more please

He’s the sort of signing we should be making. Much rather take a punt on the player who is on the way up and rather than someone using us as a retirement home. We need a striker regardless so if we can get him for £5m I would do it. Ideally then sell Daka and get another in.

All about opinions! I would rather keep Faes simply because at Championship level it would mean we could hold a higher line and dominate the ball higher up the pitch -

He would be better next to Nelson. Out of interest if you had to keep one would you keep Faes or Vestergaard? -
Fantastic news that he’s off! Overpaid, overhyped yet underperformed. Hoping this frees up the wages and squad place to go for a striker, if we move fast (😆) we could have one in by next weekend. Mads move will accelerate from here, Justin and BEK linked in recent days. At least things are starting to happen. Priority for me would be to move Vestergaard and Soumare next with central midfield the target.
-
Assuming Mads does go I think we sign another keeper. Jakub needs competition, as good as Begovic has been I can’t imagine he will be trying to outperform him in training to put pressure on Marti. We should either look abroad for another prospect ala Mads or see if there is a more ambitious younger keeper in England who wants to try to earn their place.
-
Would be good business if we can get £25m+. Hopefully this will kickstart some activity. Get this done, Coady gone and we can then hunt the striker we desperately need
-
My understanding is that if you sell someone for less than their book value that it’s a negative on PSR calculation - breaking even would be ideal
-
It’s all hypothetical unless we know what he was on at Burnley. For all we know they were offering him £40k a week for 2 years and we’ve offered him £50k a week for 3. Wouldn’t be the worst deal in the world assuming we shift Wilf and/or Bouba. Worth pointing out that he is a year older than Wilf so if his salary is less and we get a fee for Wilf that’s good business imo.
-
By my count we have 26 players who would need registering- take Souttar out as injured and we’re maxed out. We therefore need to shift two to bring our first in and then one in one out
