If we sell him we promote Page to first team regular. He’s ready.

We have a game 48hrs later so have to be careful not to overload Ricardo, Fatawu and Monga especially. Subs will be vital in both games so important that we have a strategy in place.

What’s frustrating is that we traded really well pre the Daka/Soumare summer. The issue was we didn’t make a sale that summer and over 2/3 years we dished out some big contracts - the majority pre-PSR. Those are mitigating factors, combining them with the fact that we had adhered to previous rules (due to a loophole admittedly) and have severely cut costs in the last couple of years we might be ok.

I was buzzing when we signed David Bell on loan. Uninspiring.

Aside from the last 15 mins of the first half I thought we were very comfortable. Could arguably have scored 5 or 6 and Swanseas penalty was a joke of a decision. Winks and James are a great partnership and Fatawu looked back to his best. Happy with Daka, I stand by it that we look better as a team when he plays. Only change I would make for Pompey is Ramsey for BDCR.

With the one loan spot left I would go with Awoniyi. Not getting a sniff at Forest.

My guess is that we don’t want someone on Vestergaards wages sat on the bench or in the stands. I also wouldn’t want Faes or Okoli guiding Nelson through a game. When he’s back fit I think Nelson and Souttar would be a great partnership. Harry is excellent at this level and they would compliment each other really well

Really disappointed with that. the result hinged on two decisions. Taking BDCR off for Skipp was baffling. It completely lost our momentum and made us instantly weaker. If Bobbys race was run, straight swap with Ayew. JJ looked great in the 8, he is so much more effective there. Got Praet for Iheanacho vibes. Then for the goal Jannik has to clear his lines. I don’t know what he (and then later VK) were thinking. I thought that Bobby and Daka did really well. Considering it was their first starts I thought they worked hard and we looked more dangerous with them on the pitch. Winks was great, Hamza was class one minute - league 2 the next, Monga looked lively but Fatawu struggled. When he is doubled up on we need to use the extra man better. CB’s were steady apart from a couple of brain farts (one very costly) and both LB’s were a bit meh. I understand what Marti meant by the “arrogant” comment. With Brendan and Enzo we created this complex where we thought we have a divine right to win football matches. I believe this was apparent last season and so far this there is an element of us thinking we can just turn up and it will be ok. Let’s see what Saturday brings but either way the international break is coming at a good time.

We are a team that needs to score first, haven’t conceded a goal this season so far when we’ve been in front. I would go front foot and attacking with some more defensive options on the bench. Watching the replay of their goal it looks likes Faes loses his footing on his right side and throws out the left in desperation- still not great. Either Vesty or Bouba should have cleared them out when the flick happens. Big 45 ahead.

We should be going into every game looking to dominate the ball and come home with 3 points. Should have won the last two - tonight is an ideal opportunity to put a marker down and get back on track.

Worth pointing out that Americans own Ipswich and Indians own Blackburn. I’ve said for ages that the US are taking over English football. The American involvement in both ownership/investment is growing and some of the rules changes (past and future) are simply here to control the outcomes. The future of domestic football in this country is bleak.

Overall, I’m happy with the performance yesterday. The changes that Marti made had us more solid defensively - still needs work at top end of the pitch. All four that came in were class - need to keep their places going forward. The final third is what concerns me the most. Ayew is a 10, I liked what I saw from Carranza so I would take Soumare out next week (who did ok btw) move JJ back and make that change. Stephy needs taking out, he’s a shadow of the player from 2yrs ago. Lacks confidence going forward which is affecting his decision making and didn’t do enough defensively. Got to start Monga next week. The only other change I would make is Kristensen for Thomas. Luke hasn’t played badly but offers little going forward. VK would offer more of a threat especially with a “9” in the box. Thought Cov were ok - Rudoni is a player. Never felt overly threatened and if we had nicked a goal I think we would have comfortably seen it out. We are still a work in progress but I think we’re getting there. It will click soon.

We should go in to every league game this season with the mindset that we are going to win it. In my opinion, we have one of the best squads and starting 11’s in the league. Hopefully this is the game that we start to believe it.

The more I think of it, it’s clear that his agent was in his ear ahead of the Birmingham game. There were 3 days of the window left and I’m sure they expected some interest if he performed well. It didn’t come, and he played on Saturday like he didn’t want to be there. Winks and James in CM for me - then Skipp, Choudhury, Page, Tea lady, Soumare.

They’ll want to appease the fans if a change is made by recruiting Welsh. I know Pulis is, however could see them going for Page or Coleman.

It’s a big game for both - difference being that if we win we’ll briefly enjoy it then focus on WBA. If cov win, there will be an open top bus parade.
