  1. WTF. I meant the STATION!
  2. I'm reminded of something an old colleague of mine used to say: If two wrongs don't make a right, try 3 wrongs, or 4....... That seems to be Israel's approach.
  3. I know the footballing authorities care not one jot on fans feelings, but it would be interesting to find out what fans think about not just the nations league games, but international matches per se. I think there is a growing ambivalence towards Englands matches amongst the average fan these days. There is no where near the excitment and interest of yesteryear towards a lot of international matches I feel.
  4. I had my one and only hot pork pie at Elland Road back in the 70s. Bit into it and - not surprising when you think about it - the jelly had turned to a hot liquid which squirted out and ran down my scarf and coat. I stank of it all the way home on the coach.
  5. In our previous house we bought a wardrobe 'system', for want of a better word, which was basically two siding rails and two doors. It was relatively simple to screw the rails to the ceiling and floor and then hang the doors. All the fixtures and fittings were supplied. I did need to make a rail for the clothes to hang on, but that was simply a length of 1in wooden dowel running the entire length. I did need to also support it halfway however, to stop it sagging. It was then simply a case of buying a couple of racks for shoes to go on and I also fitted a shelf for other items. It was something similar to this @Unabomber
  6. Flightradar24 has down as Nottingham.
  7. Sony Walkman? Is this post 40 odd years old?
  8. No wonder Mads is outstanding, he's getting plenty of practice.
  9. Later Jools, much later. Ooò, sorry, it's Josh.
  10. As the OP of this thread, I can't believe where the last 3 years have gone. Apologies to a couple of posters who asked me to update them on my decision-- I'm not too sure I did so. I finally retired 9 months after my initial post so yes, I did finish and I have not regretted it one bit. Me and others have said you never know what is around the corner and that was very much the case with myself. Less than a week after my first post, I was taken ill, completely out of the blue. I've been lucky all my life to be fit and healthy so it came as quite a shock. A relatively simple procedure corrected things for a couple years, along with regular medication. I have been back in hospital again however - 3 times this year, with a promise of a further, more invasive procedure sometime next year. I'm lucky though, I can continue my life as before but with just a little wind taken from my sails. Financially, it was a little harder than when I was working of course but that is now offset as I have just received my first state pension payment.
  11. Good 'ole Leicester, second worse in the country for patient/GP ratio
  12. Harsh, but you're not far off. I think it's different if the death of a younger fan is known amongst the wider fan base, then some acknowledgment is understandable. However, there are occassions where applause suddenly breaks out in sections of the crowd and you can be found asking, what's this for then? Lets face it, there's a good chance that some supporters sadly die often during the season, there would commemorations virtually all the time.
  13. They're mad down there, aren't they? Don't trust anyone who wears silly head gear and beards - with the notable exception of Santa. I'm not trivialising this conflict - it's all so thoroughly heart breaking.
  14. Indeed he was. To my mind, this encourages players to roll around in apparent agony to try and get a booking/sending off. If a player leaps to his feet, after the tackle, the ref thinks if can't have been that bad.
  15. My wife woke me once asking, 'Who's Daphne?' Apparently, I had called out the name in my sleep.
  16. Guess he'll be at Chelsea next year.
  17. Posters in the match thread today, predicting we would concede in added time and then quoting their own post when it happened with comments like 'Called it', 'Told you'. Well; well done you, absolutely no one else saw that coming.
  18. The fact we showed some fight to pull it back to 2-2, has probably bought him 4 of 5 more games, no matter what happens.
  19. I bet Arsenal weren't expecting to employ the dark arts at halftime.
  20. The soup came from Leicester?
  21. Lucky escape
  22. Three of my young grandchildren eat nothing but convenience/processed foods. I didn't wish to be seen as an interfering grandparent but did raise it in an indirect manner with the parents once. Their Mum was totally ambivalent to any concerns, making out she had no idea it was less than ideal. There is plenty of information and education about this out there, why does it pass some folk by? I suspect though, if we discussed 'Five a day' foods, she would argue their 'Big Mac' has one or two pieces of cress in it, so that's one ticked off.
