  1. I realise that you said "arguably", but steady on. That's frankly absurd.
  2. Very Turner-esque. I recall as a child being transfixed by 'Fishermen at Sea' at the Tate. Also, from a young age I also loved the detail and colour of the Pre-Raphaelites. Holman Hunt in particular. Excellent thread this.
  3. "They are throwing themselves into the road gladly. Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness." "Throw yourself into the road Darling - you haven't got a chance"
  4. The problem is, these days suburban residential street parking in North London is largely permitted or incurs a fee and very often time limited. It used to be possible to park in Brent, very near the tube station or Golders Green or off the Finchley Road as far down as West Hampstead. I'd suggest somewhere like Hendon, Barnet or Cockfosters, near to the M1, where there is cheap day parking and the underground, or as suggested, Stanmore or anywhere in Harrow within easy reach of the Tube. Even if you pay to park, combined with the petrol it is still vastly cheaper than taking the family on a train and that really shouldn't be the case. We should be subsidising our rail network to get people off the roads and incentivise public transport.
  5. Cat 5 now. Even if this downgrades by the time it makes landfall, it is still likely to be 4. This is a particularly dangerous storm, because much like Hurricane Sally that struck Florida in 2020, it is very slow moving leading to prolonged rainfall and intensified flooding.
  6. No, that would be Molla Wague Ranieri's last game as Leicester City manager was the 2-1 Champions League loss to Sevilla on February 22, 2017. He was sacked the following day.

Yes. None of my labs have ever been allowed to go upstairs, simply because they can be prone to elbow and hip dysplasia and there is evidence that repeated use of a staircase can aggravate or even hasten this in older age. I'm always horrified to see novice and even experienced owners using these ridiculous flingers on the park whatever the breed, which encourages them to get up to full speed then wheel around at a dead stop which places enormous strain on their joints. I toss an occasional ball, but short throws so she can catch it or grab it on the run. My current dog is an American field lab, so a water dog. Although she loves, streams, rivers and lakes, bizarrely, she doesn't like the shower or bath time though. Since she equates this with upstairs I have zero problems and have to coax her up there. The other day I carried her upstairs to my office and her little heart was pounding bless her. Like you, I have a stair gate at the bottom, but quite frankly, I don't need it anymore.
  8. Put very simply: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reports that carbon dioxide growth rates have tripled since the 1960s. This means the annual increase in CO2 levels has accelerated significantly, reaching a rate of approximately 2.4 ppm per year from 2011-2020, compared to about 0.8 ppm per year in the 1960s, whilst last year was the hottest since global records began. Assuming we immediately stopped burning fossil fuels, although about half of the excess CO2 would be absorbed relatively quickly by natural carbon sinks like oceans and land, atmospheric CO2 levels would not return to pre-industrial levels for many thousands of years. I'm curious to elicit the views of those that in this thread's poll voted for 'not real' or 'real just nature'. That CO2 absorbs infrared energy, re-emitting it back towards Earth as heat, acting like a blanket trapping heat and the fact that that levels have witnessed a threefold increase over the last half a century is not up for debate. Nor is the fact that burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Are you in denial of any of the above? Genuine question.
  9. S38 Block 2 and the final test of the Block 2 Super Heavy. The final boostback turn is so spectacular. Flight 12 will feature the first use of Block 3 vehicles and will again be sub-orbital into the Indian Ocean.
  10. It says it all that our dumb fanbase are amongst the few in the league stupid enough to still be singing this. Cringeworthy.
  11. Josh Murphy is dangerous and rains in a hail of crosses. Together with Callum Lang and Colby Bishop, could have our defence running for cover. Connor Chapman is back where he belongs. Andre Dozzell is decent in mf so is Adrian Segečić. Pretty sure their keepers Ben Killip and Nicolas Schmid are the same person! I recall the days of the 6.57 Crew. The Millwall Bushwhackers used to say they that aside from the ICF, they were the only firm to actually put up a decent fight.
  12. Aiyawatt is Top.
  13. I cannot sadly think of any reason why Skipp should have been brought in.

  15. Vardy used to contrive this all the time and we loved him for it. The worst display of inept officiating that I can recall for one of our matches in this league was the 3-1 defeat at Leeds in February 2024 but I'd forgotten who was responsible. Just looked it up, and it was Pawson which makes complete sense.
  16. I'm sorry to hear that. Both are very treatable if caught early but that does not make it any less of an ordeal for him. I have prostate cancer, stage 2 contained and have been on active surveillance for three years. I may decide to have treatment soon because it is increasing in volume and pushing up the PSA. Although the lesions are unchanged and the cancer is ostensibly stable, I suspect that there are slightly higher grade cells in there since 30% of prostate cancer biopsies undersample. Either that or they are mutating. Remember, prostate cancer is a stealth killer because it is asymptomatic until it has escaped. So providing that there is no metastasis, knowing that it is there is half the battle won. I hope that there is a favourable outcome. If it is Gleason Score 6 they will recommend 'watchful waiting' and it's likely something that he will die with as opposed to of.
  17. Count your blessings and never take anything for granted.

    Hunstanton:
  19. Tommy English should definitely feature, particularly since it was a straight swap with Coventry City at the expense of Jim Melrose. Aside from the obvious case of Junior Lewis, Martin Henderson, Lammie Robertson and Josh Low are probably the worst players that I've ever seen in a City shirt.
