As someone who is shit scared of heights, it gives me sweaty palms watching Alex Honnold. I preferrred his El Capitan climb as it was more varied and this one was quite repetitive, but the bloke is an absolute freak of nature.

I'm not usually keen on the Swiss. But their flags a big plus.

One of the fluorescent lights on the shop floor ceiling had gone out so I was sent to Wilkinsons to buy a 'six foot fallopian tube' I can still picture the look on the old dears face at the counter. The naivety of youth

Ah, Tandy. My first job as a 16 year old YTS was at Dixons the elecrical retailer in Rugby. It was in the shopping centre about 5 doors down from Tandy. Apparently our manager got on well with their manager and told me on my first day that we "take it in turns" every week to vacuum each others' shop floor at the end of days trading. This week was our turn to vac Tandy's and it was my job as the newbie. So once I'd finished doing our shop floor, I dragged the Henry vac down the precinct, walked into Tandy's who were just about to close for the day and told the manager I was from Dixons and was here to vac their shop. He smiled and said thanks so I plugged it in and got started. After about 5 minutes with my head down I looked up and saw all the Tandy staff gathered by the till looking at me pissing themselves laughing. That's when I knew I'd been stitched up, so I dragged Henry and my sorry ass back to Dixons where I was greeted by my new colleagues also pissing themselves laughing. One of many initiation ceremony's in my first few weeks that soon made me wise up.

Think Macron looks cool AF wearing his shades indoors gotta say

I don't think that's minor at all. I think it says a lot about our current set up.

Going to the football with your mates on the piss is what it's all about. The result is almost irrelevant, it's about being with your tribe and having a great day out. Enjoy your salad days Chris. You'll be old and cynical before you know it.

There's every chance this will be the first season since 81/82 that I don't go to a home game. Despite paying for my membership every year, I just can't muster up the energy anymore for a 150 mile, seven hour round trip. I feel guilty and sad about it all but when it stops being fun and exciting, what's the point? This isn't the same club I grew up watching and adoring. We've lost our soul and we've lost our identity.

Mate, we were fvcking awful 40+ years ago. Attendances of 15k, crap pitches, no money, and a million miles off the big time. But we sang every players name and one thing you could guarantee was workrate and effort. Apart from the odd player like Steve Lynex, the skill level was poor but they never shirked a tackle and left it all out there on the pitch. That's all we asked for really. And most of them were paid fvck all but played for the love of the game and realised how lucky they were. Don't get me started on modern day footballers. And I know I'm a rose tinted dinosaur.

Depends how you define 'average American'. I would imagine most educated, proffesionals, in metroploitan cities who have a passport and undertand there's a world outside of the US would indeed be embarrased by it all. But then I guess there's a big proportion of red neck, hillbillies who've never crossed their state line and spend all day hunting, fishing and watching Fox news who can't get enough of it. America is like no other place in the world. It's like 50 different countries and cultures all bolted together under one flag. As a nation that's only 250 years old, they're still in their teenage phase really.

They need a reality check. Put them all on performance based pay instead of inflated salaries and see if that makes a difference.

When I started watching Leicester in the early 80's we were a bang average, mid table, second tier team - just like now. The club had no money and little hope back then but the players cared. Despite their limited talent, they worked their nuts off and gave everything for the cause. That's all I ask of this lot. Just look like you're trying FFS.

Watching some old highlights on YouTube to cheer me up. Leicester 3-0 v Spurs December '73. Weller, Worthington, Birch, Sammels etc. What a team, unlike this current shower of shite.

Gary Coatsworth ran a pub in Broughton Astley for a while I'm sure

Re-doing our kitchen involved pulling the old artex ceiling down to re-wire everything and install an extractor fan. Also had to dig the floor up to put in new pipes so it was chaos for a few weeks but it looks good now. We also had creaky stairs but managed to fix them from the top without having to remove any plaster/drywall luckily. Shout out to Gorrila glue which is amazing stuff! Talking of detailing cars, I haven't washed mine for nearly a year. It's mainly been sat on the drive in front of a skip gathering dust so will be nice to get back into that hobby again when the weather improves. And you laugh about retirement delay but sadly it's inevitable. Hate the fact we've had to take another mortgage out in our 50's but needs must unfortunately

Apologies for quoting myself but we're nearly there with this renovation! Carpets going down this week and then all that's left to do is replace the internal doors. Gotta say the house looks fvcking amazing. Everything is new and I'm just staring to feel like it's all been worth it. Six months of hell but we're nearly there. Then there's the outside to tackle in the spring and sort the garden out. New fence going up soon then the next big job is to replace 200m2 of old timber cladding with new composite cladding. Will replace all the guttering at the same time and get it properly insulated, so another expensive job but it needs doing. Thanks again to @kenny and @Wolfox for their initial help and support. It's been a journey that I don't ever want to do again and we're 50% over budget so I'm now officailly skint.

All these playoff games have been brilliant so far.

Do you mean Simon Jordan? He hasn't been involved with Palace for over 15 years.

Cheltenham Town F.A Cup 3rd round match thread

The magic of the FA Cup is alive and well -
I've had a few pelters over the last few years on here for not hating Wrexham. The documentary series' have been class IMO and I can't help but be invested in their story. I don't mind Rob & Ryan and I quite like Humphrey too. They've put their money where their mouth is by expanding the stadium this season so I can't fault them really. I think it would be amazing if they went all the way from non-league to the PL at some stage. Good luck to them.
