I wouldn’t be against signing two or three experienced players who can help with the leadership side on a free (or a few million max) on a one or two year deal. But most of our money should be going for players abroad who are 25 or under. That said I’m not sure how many experienced players who have played in the premier league are available for free or a few million at this moment of time I’d hate us to sign players like Longstaff for 20 million and a five year contract for example.

It easily could be one of the upcoming academy lads if they have a good breakthrough season. Just because it’s pure profit. Wouldn’t even need to be a top six club either, someone like Brentford could buy Alves next season which is actually quite depressing.

Nelson signed an extension last season didn’t he? I would offer Alves and Braybrooke long terms deals this pre season though. Apart from them three are any of the current u’21s likely to push for a squad place this season? As no doubt we’ll struggle to send any out on loan again
