I’ve just watched the entire 1969 Cup Final for the first time since being there at Wembley , having been unable to bear it before . In a number of ways it resembled the Chelsea game , playing a higher rated opponent who dominated possession ,but resilient defending denying them many clear cut chances . Interestingly, we created several very promising chances / half chances which on another day could have changed the outcome ,with Andy Lochhead (twice) ,Len Glover , Peter Rodrigues and Rodney Fern all spurning them . Poor Allan Woolllett was totally out of his depth and crucially was beaten by Mike Summerbee to set up the winning goal - a fit John Sjoberg would never have been rounded so easily . The 69 side was , typical of Leicester City teams in the pre King Power era , an excellent core group , with a smattering of top quality players , but always suffering from a lack of squad depth , resulting in there being at least one or two substandard players for crucial games - fundamental weak links that we don’t seem to have any more . I’ve finally exorcised my demons after 52 years !

Credit where it’s due , I thought she was a quality ref .The way she let the game flow and ignored the now familiar overreaction to challenges ,was a breath of fresh air - in total contrast to the fussy , card happy officiating we had in our CL league campaign and are accustomed to seeing in European competitions

Losing Wilf also massively diminishes our aerial competitiveness ,which I think is partly why he played 3 at the back last night .As Choudhury is nailed on to start on Sat , I wouldn't be surprised to see Benkovic brought back in if he's fit , especially as Fuchs has played so much recently ( although on form there would be a good case for dropping Chilwell instead )
