I was on the pitch before the game too, taking part in an inter-school penalty competition. We were all given free tickets to the game, right up in the seats of the main stand, the one and only time I was ever up there. It was such a good game and atmosphere that I was slightly peeved that I wasn't down in Pen 4 with my mates that I usually went with. Though not as peeved as I was with my mum who threw away my program of the game when we moved house a few months later!

That forward line is going to terrorise them! I expect at least one feigned injury in the Bristol defence in order to get off the pitch.

Well if the new manager wants a goalkeeper to play out from the back, then I can't see that Mike Stowell is the right coach to help train the goalie to do that, not to the required standard anyway. So good luck to him elsewhere, but I guess there's just not a place for him here anymore.

Yes me too. I won't be at all bothered if we don't go straight back up, I'm way more interested to see improvements across the whole spectrum ie the types of players we have coming in, winning mentality, fitness and injuries etc. These things won't happen dramatically overnight, it will probably need 2-3 years to see a real change, and I'll be happy with that if we can see definite signs of it happening in year one.

I'm not too fussed that it might be a bit of a risk, I'm just excited by the potential, especially if he brings in a whole new team of backroom staff and makes good use of the training ground. Can't wait to see if those things happen!

At least I found out there's a new series of Peaky Blinders coming out, so it wasn't all bad.

It was Entropy, a great little place at the time. On the corner with the old H.North sign. There was also Quando further up the road which later became a Polish bar.

Very soon after Martin Allen was sacked I was having a drink in one of the small bars on Hinkley Rd and got talking to the only other person in there. The bloke told me he had been MA's driver and the reason he was sacked was because of an incident in training. He said that Jimmy Nielsen had been laughing about the nice contract he had managed to secure at the club and about how much money he was earning without having to do anything. The bloke said that MA took exception to this and stuck one on him. The bloke seemed totally genuine and was a bit down about losing his job. No idea if this actually happened but I've often thought it had a ring of truth to it.

Can't wait to see these two linking up, it's got me really excited for the game.
