Wesley Fofana - He is no more - finished - forgotten.
SixtiesFox replied to Sly's topic in Transfer Talk
According to Rodgers another bid from Chelsea for Fofana today. Rejected! -
Just listening to Rodgers on Radio Leicester. He's a dead man walking.
-
Perfect! Got through but a pitiful performance surely brings us closer to getting rid of Rodgers.

Appreciate your loyalty and optimism but the alarm bells are ringing. Not everything is Rodgers' fault and our quality players continue to paper over the cracks, but we are heading for a relegation battle if something doesn't change. I am sure that Top is fast coming to the conclusion that changing our manager would be the best way to turn things around. If we are still in the bottom 3 after the Spurs game then, if I were Top, that would be a good time to pull the trigger, particularly as our next game would be Forest at home..The atmosphere in the ground would be transformed. Win that, and with a run of winnable fixtures coming up, we'd be mid-table before the WC break. Waiting until the WC starts is the other option and in the end the timing will depend on when they have found a suitable replacement. I cannot believe that the search for a new coach has not already begun.

Soyuncu is a specialist central defender who we all know can play on the left in a successful partnership with Evans. We saw it for a year and were laughing all the way to the bank after selling Maguire. Amartey is a useful utility/squad player and a converted midfielder who, therefore, lacks a defender's instincts. He is also uncomfortable playing on the left. Not playing Soyuncu makes absolutely no sense at all. He backed out of a tackle? Give me a break! And what has Praet done wrong? He probably made it clear to Rodgers that he wanted to play. Vindictiveness on Rodger's part? Make no mistake this guy is taking us down!

Confidence is instilled by the coach. Likewise the coach can transmit fear. When you go out onto the battlefield you need a strong leader. Rodgers is a good coach on the practice field but not a good leader of men. Would you honestly let this guy lead you into battle? Big Nige was not a great technical coach but most of us would willingly follow him into battle. A hybrid of the two, not easy to find, is what we should be looking for as the search for a new coach, which has surely already begun, continues.

Watching other teams at the moment amplifies the fear of allowing Rodgers to continue in charge for much longer. The passion and commitment of a Leeds team with inferior talent to ours being galvanized by a passionate coach on the sideline and the pace that almost every other team seems to be playing at - these are worrying times indeed. We are sleepwalking towards disaster. Pull the trigger, Top, before it's too late!

Many of us are not surprised by what is happening on the field right now, as we sussed Rodgers months and, in some cases years ago. He is an egotist who only cares about his own reputation. He constantly manipulates the narrative to protect his own position. Unfortunately, he currently holds all the cards. He has already excused these disastrous opening results by constantly harping on about a refresh that he expected to happen and hasn't. He is not a leader. He shows little passion for the fight. Instead he constantly blames others: the club, the inadequacies of his players and why does he inexplicably keep freezing out talented assets. Would any of you let this man lead you into battle? Rodgers knows exactly what he is doing. He is simply waiting for Top to pull the trigger. He then gets a massive payout and leaves with his reputation in tact because, of course, none of this is his fault. Another gullible club will then come in and fall for his bullshit and... repeat. Yet, remarkably, I suspect that some of our fan base will still insist on Monday morning that he is the right man to take us forward. Come on Top, you know what needs to be done. Make a change now and with our current squad, even minus Fofana and Tielemans, we'll be mid-table after a dozen games then rebuild for next season with our a new coach and new head of recruitment firmly in place..Keep Rodgers in post and we'll be bottom 3 and heading for relegation which would be catastrophic!

Perez likes a game against Southampton!
-
Can we afford not to?
-
Absolutely agree. If he stays, he'll take us down. The club must be looking for a replacement. As soon as they find one he's gone.

Arsenal on fire. Most teams that go to Arsenal this season will lose. Throwing away a couple of points last week though, as we all knew, was unforgivable. But, given a fresh start with a new manager and head of recruitment incoming, there is no need to panic. We have a squad that's plenty good enough to avoid relegation this season, particularly if those players being frozen out are given a fair chance, then start a rebuild over the summer. Our club is in great shape and we must stay focused on the longer term goals shrewdly set out by the club last week. It seems to me that they have already made their minds up about Rodgers and that it's now just a question of timing before he is shown the door.

So depressing. It's all about Mr. Rodgers I'm afraid. Big Dan, a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter!.
-
Newcastle not prepared to meet Leicester's "...hefty price tag" or "...pay over the odds" for James Maddison.! They bid 45 million. What an insult! Clearly Saudi FC's dirty money has affected their judgment. In today's market, even with only 2 years left on his contract, Maddison is worth north of 60 million. Extend his contract and his value will go even higher.
-
Seems like those teeth have you hypnotized pal. Keep drinking the Rodgers' 'cool' aid but be careful what you're prepared to settle for. Rodgers needs to focus on improving his own performance levels rather than on manipulating the narrative. Blatantly throwing away 2 points on Sunday wasn't a great start no matter how big the salary you are hiding behind.

I don't think that the model to remain competitive in the premier league was hatched in response to the February UEFA rule changes. Those running our club plan years not months ahead and that is why they have been so successful in running businesses, be they football clubs or duty free empires. Rather the rule changes just reinforced that strategy. Rodgers has his own agenda and needs to tread more carefully if he wants to remain in one of the best coaching jobs in football.
-
The club is taking control of a narrative which was becoming quite damaging. Rodgers not sticking to the script with his 'refresh' assertion must have been extremely annoying to a club that is trying to implement a long term strategy to stay competitive in the Premier League despite the huge economic advantages enjoyed by the rich 6 plus. Yet again our owners are ahead of the curve. Rodgers' motives, however, are laid bare once again. He will spin his own narrative to protect his own reputation even if it conflicts with that of the club. As a consequence the club might decide that he is not the best man to be part of achieving their longer term goals. Time will tell, but our Brendan is treading on thin ice methinks!

As fans we're fuming about throwing away two vital points today, particularly in the context of a promised refresh that never happened, speculation that some of our key players may be poached and a difficult set of upcoming fixtures to start the season.. I imagine that most of our players, both those run into the ground on a baking hot day and those frozen out on the bench are equally annoyed that the two points were squandered largely due to Rodgers' baffling coaching decisions. Worse still, this is nothing new, he's got form. I really think that Top must pull the trigger and remove Rodgers as, I fear, the more he delays the worse things are likely to get.

Arsenal Away Sat 13.8.22 @ 1500. Pre match Doom and Gloom!
SixtiesFox replied to Sir Shep's topic in Leicester City Forum
Can't really see anything other than a defeat I'm afraid. But if it takes us a step closer to seeing the back of Rodgers then so be it. The only way we are going to see the promised 'refresh' before the next transfer window opens is with a new coach. -
Totally agree. Ironically the refresh Rodgers was spouting on about starts with him!
-
Bonkers!
-
We can only hope so. This coupled with the fact that the new head of recruitment hasn't arrived yet.
-
Once you get on the wrong side of Rodgers you're done. Starting Amartey ahead of Cags and not bringing on Praet and Mendy when, by his own admission the players were becoming fatigued, are decisions that beggar belief. A change of coach would revitalize this squad. I hope Top sees this and pulls the trigger sooner rather than later!
